if you check my profile I don't write reviews on business bc everyone has bad days. my pedicure lasted 3 hours where she cut my nail beds sprayed alcohol on them and filed it scratched me with her nails during exfoliatng and even put the exfoliated on my feet and when I said ow or moved away or no I was ignored. I have slight bruising from the tapotement massage where she punched so hard on my legs. Best nail salon I've been to in a long time! I went in about 11am on a Wednesday, and there was only a 10 minute wait. The girl who did my nails was very polite and occasionally talked to me throughout the session. She was very professional and did my nails exactly how I like them- short and squoval. I love them! She made sure to ask if I was happy with each thing before she proceeded with the next thing. So great! I will definitely go back! I went here based of reviews on yelp so I'm leaving mines for the next person. My father was in Memphis having surgery the day before my birthday and I needed my nails done. I went in asked for a full set coffin shaped with gel polish. The guy told me $47 which is about normally what I pay. I thought as he was putting on my tips. That's too close to the edge. But hey. Then he started polishing my nails. After about 4 layers bottom, 2 colors, top. He filed them down and applied another layer of polish and a top coat then proceeded to shape my nails more. Best nail salon I have ever been to. Hands down. I've tried maybe half a dozen in Memphis and the manicures don't last, which makes me apprehensive to spend the money on it. I've also had terrible experiences with other places when I go in for a repair (accused of lying, half-assed repairs). This place though!! Friendly staff. They do the job right. I've now had two consecutive dip manicures here and both have lasted between 2.5-3 weeks! This is amazing for me. As a field biologist and restaurant worker, I'm very rough on my hands. My technician coughed repeatedly and had to leave three times to hack cough in the back hallway. I've gone here twice now. Both times I was in search of a fancy little nail spot in the nearby area and both times I was turned away because they were booked. And both times I landed at Andy's. I am also happy to say that both times I left very satisfied. This place certainly isn't fancy. It's a hole in the wall kind of nail salon. No fancy drink service, colorful flashing lights, or decorative waterfall pieces. It has the essentials - pedicure chairs, manicure tables, a tv and a drying desk. That is it...I don't even think they have fancy wall paper. So if you're wanting to go in and feel like a princess...this probably isn't going to be a place for you. Andy's is however (at least with pedicures) time efficient quality work. Both times I've gone in I've truely enjoyed my pedicures. The massage chairs are some of the best I've ever sat in and they have a WIDE variety of colors from both Essie and OPI. What makes this even better is that it's a quality pedicure in a low fuss environment that is well priced ($30 for spa pedicure). No needing to wait for Wednesday specials like other nearby places...any day of the week you can get a good pedi at a good price! I went for years under the previous management, always great work, people not ultra friendly but did a very good job @ a very good price. But now... do you want to go where you're treated rudely, not listened to even when you tell the nail tech the cutting is painful and you're BLEEDING! Then he finally looks up! If I could give a 0 star rating I would. Nails chipped almost 30 minutes after I left the salon. I went back . They redid my nails and bubbles appeared all over them immediately. I told the technician that i thought something was wrong with the polish ( which looked like it had been there since circa 1998) she looked me in the face and ignored me. She proceeded to use the same polish again, adding even more thinner. This time my nails were covered in what looked like clothing fibers . I told the technician who rolled her eyes at me and told me that nail polish was not meant to be imperfection free. She was extremely condescending and rude. I have been a loyal customer to this establishment for about 3 years now and the experience that I had today has made me decide to no longer support this business. I got my nails done as usual and it is very common for nail polish to peel if the polish just isnt good. 2 days after I get my nails done, the polish starts peeling off so I go back to the shop to change the color (which i have done before in the past when a polish peels). After i changed the peeling polish HENRY tells me that I have to pay $30. $30 for a polish change that WAS PEELING when I literally just got my nails done 2 days ago. How is that fair? When i asked for an explanation, He gave me the most bullshit explanation as to why i had to pay $30 TO FIX A POLISH THAT WAS PEELING. His excuse was that it's because I completely changed the nail color. In what world does it make sense to keep the same color that is PEELING as opposed to getting a new one? I have always gone to Spa Nails on McLean. Although they are a bit pricey, the old saying "You get what you pay for" couldn't be more true. I always like having a back up salon so I wanted to try Andy's Nails because of all the reviews. During a storm after work last night, I decided to give it a go. I was the only customer which probably should've been a sign but I was going to chalk it up to the weather. Now, I had dip on my nails and simply wanted it removed, then a manicure with a clear coat. That's it. I like to give my nails a break from any gel or dip every couple of months. This was the WORST manicure that I've ever had in my entire life. First of all, she soaked my nails rather than wrapping - which isn't my preference but everyone has their own technique. She overly used the drill to sand down my nails which caused them to become paper thin. Painfully, paper thin. She did not ask if I wanted a cut down and hardly even filed to shape them - they were all uneven, misshapened and looked awful. Barely cleaning my cuticles, she nicked me so badly that my nail bled for 10 minutes. There was no apology, no real effort to stop it from bleeding, and finally super glued my finger to prevent any further bleeding. Yes, super glue. Did I mention that a lady came in after me and had dip - low and behold, they wrapped her nails instead of shoving her fingers in a giant bowl of acetone - very frustrating to see. I was much too exhausted to complain and paid the $20 for the "manicure" when really it was just an overpriced dip removal. When I got home, the first thing I did when I walked in the door was go cut and file my own nails. Needless to say, I will NEVER go back to Andy's Nails and I'm certainly glad I didn't waste even more money on my usual gel or dip manicure. I've been looking for a decent nail salon in Memphis for months and I decided to give Andy's a try. I didn't make an appointment but I was lucky enough to be helped immediately when I walked in. I asked for a pedi and a fill, and apparently they have two different types of pedis which are both overpriced (but that seems to be the case everywhere in Memphis-- they should be 20-25 like a manicure). The man who did my fill-in was friendly, but he took so long to do my nails that the girl at the next station finished two customers before he was done with mine. When I tried to explain that I wanted the shellac polish he told me it would be $20 extra. Either he was confused or their prices are ridiculous... that's a more than a whole bottle of that stuff costs! I went for regular polish instead. While the staff here seems to at least make my nails look how I want them to (not the case with many salons in this city), I can't say I've finally settled on a regular salon yet. I visited andys nails based on reviews on here and didn't have a similar experience. When I went there were no other customers except a friend and I. The woman doing my nails was on the phone with her home insurance people the entire time and they were on speaker phone. She was giving out all of her information to them and her son, which must have been about 3, was running around barefoot. I visited Andy Nails around 10:30 this morning based on the high reviews. I had seen it across the street from Kroger but never stopped in until today. I'm so glad I did. There was no one in there because it was so early (they had only opened at 10). I was greeted by a younger girl who asked me what I wanted. I told her I needed a mani and pedi. She asked which pedi I wanted and I had no idea what the difference was. She did a wonderful job explaining. I got the "Natural Pedicure" I believe is what she called it. I also got a manicure with shellac. There was so much attention to detail. She took her time and made sure my oddly shaped nails were all the same shape. It is probably the best pedicure I've ever gotten and my nails look fantastic. It was $65 total. You can't beat that, especially considering how fantastic everything was. I have come here several times now and waited to write this review because I wanted to ensure the awesome experience wasn't a fluke. Well, I'm happy to say that the attentive service and lasting polish have been consistent! Both manicures and pedicures here are fine. I like the warm mitts they use to soften hands and cuticles during manicures. I also like the hot towel featured in the pedicure. Most impressive is how long the "regular" polish lasts- at least 4 or 5 days- before it begins chipping. My lifestyle is very active, so any polish job that lasts this long is a victory in my book! This last visit I had another "new" tech doing my pedi and during my cut down she actually tried to cut my small nails that needed to be filed instead.
