I first visited September Nail Salon when I first moved to Memphis in 2014. I don't remember who performed my mani/pedi. I reacquainted with the salon this year after meeting the owner, Jennifer through a mutual acquaintance. While I have enjoyed the services received at other nail places, I prefer having a consistent person and that's not always the case. The ambiance of this salon is so warm, yet bright and inviting! I love the mirrors behind the stations that have affirmations on them. The restroom is cute too! It is VERY clean and staff wears masks and sanitize after each service. I was in dire need of a pedi/mani and decided to try September Nail Salon again. OMG!! I'm so glad I did. I booked the hot stone pedi and all I can say is that Zach is the TRUTH! The water was just the right temp to relax my entire body. He massaged the hell out of my feet and legs, which desperately needed it. The massage chair was a good addition to help put me to sleep too. Zach took his time and was very attentive to me. I don't remember the scent he used for the scrub but it was subtle and light and not greasy. He has a very calm demeanor that is so relaxing to his clients. He has a great sense of humor too. The people were super nice I'm visiting from out of town, but I feel for the price that they charge I should have had a better job done. The shape is uneven, the polish is bumpy and uneven, I have polish on my skin I was cut and still was bleeding hours after I got home. Even the polish on my toes looks off. The polish is already lifting/chipping and I got my nails done today. I was really looking forward to getting my nails done as this was the only high rated place in the area but I just left really upset and disappointed. read more

This shop is a little gem in Germantown. Very clean. I'm impressed with their sterilization procedures. In a town where no one abides by state law and uses the illegal "cheese grater" on unsuspecting customers. This place does not even have one. My nail tech was very gentle and gives a great polish job. I enjoyed our conversation. They take pride in the salon and it shows.... If you want a safe, excellent pedicure. Owner Jennifer Purnell has turned a generic Germantown storefront into a chic, inviting nail salon. The space is sleek and sunny, and it's the sort of place that you won't mind hanging out in while your nails dry. I had a pedicure at September last week, and it was pretty great. Honestly, I would go back just to hang out in the pedicure chairs: they're huge, they're comfotable, and - best part - they give a pretty great massage. Being a latecomer to most of the girlier things in life (I didn't learn to walk in heels or wear makeup until college), I'm not entirely sure what was going on during the pedicure, but I know that it involved lotion, a scrub, having my feet mummified in hot towels, and a little foot jacuzzi that had colored lights to make the water change color. mummy-feet (As you can see, I obviously don't know what I'm doing, wearing skinny jeans and sneakers to a pedicure.) The polish selection isn't massive, but there are plenty of choices, including OPI and Essie colors (I went with a bright, springy green). This review is based solely on service. I'm visiting from out if town, this nail salon was in the area. I came in was greeted and told someone would be with me shortly. About 5 minutes later, someone came over & greeted me...asked if I wanted anything. And told me I had about a 10 or 15 minute wait. In total I waited about 20 minutes or so to be told the receptionist thought I was someone else and they had no appointments available. Rihanna did my nails today and she does exactly on how you want them! She also pays really close attention to details of your nails and on making your nails look super clean. I really appreciated that! I was also stuck between choosing 2 different colors that were honestly really close in colors. She helped me choose by describing to me how they come out. Just left the most amazing appointment with Rhianna Bishop at September Nails. She is absolutely the best. For years, I was inconsistent in having my nails serviced. This is mostly because I have been fearful of running into some kind of forever nail problem. A friend recommended September Nail Salon and I have been hooked ever since. I only work with Rhianna. She has done my nails for over a year. My cuticles are extraordinarily difficult and grow like wild weeds. She is patient and gentle and gives me great advice on nail care. This is by far the best nail salon I've ever been to in Memphis! For a while I stopped going. Only reason because I started getting my acrylic *fake) nails again and they only speacialize in healthy and natural nail care. I LOVE this about the salon! I now get my gel manicures about every 2 weeks and it last and holds up so well, and has a long durability. Many nail salons these days are only concerned with money, so they try their hardest to seat everyone that walks through the door. In doing so, they essentially lose money because the customer service is not there. And by customer service...I mean cleanliness as well. They are in a rush to get you in and out so that they can get all the "clients" ($$$) that walks through the door. So cleanliness in between clients is not a huge deal. september Nail Salon, however, cherish their clients. Each client gets a disposable manicure kit (buffing pad, and nail file) that are thrown away after you leave. Not only that, but they only have 2-3 clients at time and the wait time for me has never been longer than 10 minutes. Now I will say, if you are just in the neighborhood and want to stop by and get services, they do operate on an appointment only basis. They will, however, seat you if their book isn't full and they have room for you. The price is more than what you'd pay at a traditionally owned Asian salon, but that's where the phrase "you pay for what you get" comes into play. The overall ambiance of the salon is comforting, not to mention having the door opened for you when you come in and out of the salon. They offer you your choice of beverage during your visit and work on building a personal relationship with you. The great thing is..they know you by name because they have so few clients per visit. By mid day on 2/13/2020 the margins of the shellac were peeling away from my nails, most of the polish being able to be completely peeled off in one piece. I returned Saturday 2/15/2020 for shellac re-do & they were super nice & professional about the situation. So today is 2/18/2020 & this is what my nails look like just from the Saturday appointment. I don't know if it's the top coat or the process, but I have never, ever, had this much trouble with shellac. I have gone to September Nails twice and have had good service both times. My pedicure was done nicely and the staff was friendly. The salon itself is very nice, clean and welcoming. They offer you a drink when you first come in and make you feel comfortable. They also have beautiful chandeliers that add to the decor. I would have given them 5 stars but yesterday I was told over the phone I was signed up for a manicure and pedicure before I got there but when I got there they said I was only suppose to get a pedicure. Well I still wanted a manicure but was told that there was no one to do it. They also were closing around 4 which made it difficult for me to add on a service. I didn't like that I couldn't get a manicure because I didn't have an appointment for it. This place is great but they only work off of appointments which is efficient and means you don't have to wait but bad because you can't add on anything once you get there. read more

After a terrible experience at the last nail salon I went to, I decided to try this one based off of other reviews. It was fabulous! Definitely a boutique salon but it is worth the money! I would call and set up an appointment because it is such a small salon with limited nail stations and pedicure chairs, but that's what made it so perfect! I got a shellac manicure and a basic pedicure and they were great! Kristie did both of mine and was wonderful. I like the sanitary standards this nail salon uses. However, the quality of the service is just ok. Plus, the services are definitely overpriced. Over $80 for a shellac manicure and basic pedicure (and no that did not include a tip). Considering I moved to this area from Atlanta where I was a regular customer at a luxury nail salon in Buckhead is saying a lot. Maybe I'm picky, but I came from somewhere that had amazing salons. However, here, I find merely adequate quality. Out of all that I've tried, however, September is the best. They have a very limited selection of OPI gel colors. That can be drastically improved! They offer you a very meager pour of mediocre wine. Don't be stingy, ladies... This is my only "me" time. Their customer service is why I keep coming back, though. They really are very kind, and try to do a good job, even though I've definitely had a better, cleaner, more spa-like manicure elsewhere (not in Memphis, sadly). Tiffany is THE BEST! The salon is clean, friendly, and she does excellent shellac manicures. I'm a teacher and very hard on my fingernails - Tiffany's shellac lasts three weeks, no joke - I was floored! You get a drink with your service and the employees are always professional. Updated Review: I love this salon, and they have terrific customer service. But they are a little pricey and unfortunately, I can't get an appointment even a week out. It's just not worth it, every time I try to schedule an appointment, I am told, sorry no appointments available that day. Hair appointments I understand being booked out, but nail appointments? I'm not saying that I expect them to be able to work me in if I just show up, but I've tried multiple times to book a week out. Just not worth it to me. Service here is great! This is my third time here and the ladies are so sweet! They always offer me refreshments and they even got my boyfriend a redbull and he was so happy of course! Love the color selection they have! I got the ultimate pedi and it was nice! I really wish the massages were longer especially if you're paying $54 for a pedi, but I'm sure everyone wants a longer massage. It just seemed really quick and not very hard or effective to feeling the relaxation of a massage which is the whole point?! Besides that can't complain everything here is wonderful! read more

This place is awesome! My friend and I were searching for a nice nail shop and we found this fabulous place! Blake and Kelly did an excellent job! We got the Ultimate Pedicure which includes a REAL foot massage, clay mask, and paraffin wax! My feet feel wonderful! The wine and calming music were added bonuses. This is not a crappy mall or drop in nail shop; this is a spa that specializes in nails. I liken it to getting a pedicure at an authentic hotel spa. Think Vegas, DC, or Paris. I will be back during my next trip. In the meantime, I'm going to recommend this place to everyone I know from the Memphis area. Really wanted to like September Nail Salon - had great reviews online and has a beautiful salon. I made an appointment for a mani/pedi over a month in advance as I knew was coming into town. I was greeted by three different staff members and hurried along the color choosing process, although it didn't seem that my nail tech was ready yet, as I waited another 5 minutes after selecting colors to actually sit, about 15 minutes after my appointment time. Each person who greeted me asked if I wanted water, to which I replied yes. My nail tech, after my pedicure and halfway through my manicure, asked if I wanted water and I responded that a couple people had already said they were bringing some, but she was the one to actually grab it while the other staff chatted at the front desk. I don't think it's necessary at all to offer a drink, but if it's offered, it would be great to actually have! The speed of service was also disappointing. I mentioned that I had gel on my hands when I came in, however they waited to soak my nails until after my pedi - I was in the salon for over 2.5 hours for a pedicure and gel manicure. The pedicure was as expected. The manicure however, turned a strange shade of brown (it was supposed to be a light gray) the next day and continued to change colors for the next three days until I could get to my regular salon back home to get them redone. Regrettably, I was unable to go back to give them a chance to make it right as I was already headed for the airport, which is why this is a 2 star instead of a 1. My nail tech was very nice and made great conversation. Perhaps the products have a quality issue as I've never experience a discoloration issue like that before. Overall, this salon was not worth the money even after the first time discount I was offered. I am more than happy to pay premium prices for premium services but unfortunately will need to look elsewhere in Memphis. read more
