The problem: Andersen inswing patio door very difficult to open & close. There were two problems: worn out weatherstripping gasket and need for adjustment for this complicated door. It took 2 visits to measure to the satisfaction of Andersen to correctly identify the right replacement gasket (Andersen may have as many as 20 models). Before the repairs, I had to slam the door vigorously and finish by kicking the door in order to get it closed. Thieves robbed my next door neighbor, perhaps having seen how difficult it would be to open my door! After repairs, the back door can now be opened & closed like a normal door. It has proper weatherstripping that makes it more energy efficient. Good job, difficult, but mission was accomplished. read more

Hired company to install an attic stair ladder in my home. The team of Kate and David did an outstanding job. They showed on time, thoroughly explained the work to be done, and explained how the new ladder worked. They took care to cover the walls and floor around the work area, and even removed and then put back dozens of pictures I had on the wall. They vacuumed the area and took good care of my home while working. As for the ladder, they did a superb job of painting the new trim and caulking the area. I hired this service to close a gap behind the kitchen stove to prevent mice from entering the apartment. I was not present for the job but my tenants are happy and told me how very satisfied they were with the entire experience. The email communication with Matt was excellent. The bill was reasonable and lower than another company's quote for the same job. I live in another state from my rental property and the payment process was professional, I've had one exterminator told me that he doesn't take credit card and I had to mail a check. This is not efficient for me, I really appreciate the credit card payment option Andy has, it makes the process quick and seamless. I would hire them again for other jobs. read more

David and Martin did an excellent job of patching drywall and plaster wall holes from a pipe refitting. I can not tell where the holes were. They worked with my budget and only painted the walls and ceiling where the holes were. They used paint matching instead of having me repaint the whole room. I definitely plan on using them again. His proposal was the most innovative and creative use of the space and demonstrated a firm knowledge of older homes in our area. During the remodel itself, we couldn't have been happier with the service provided. Living in an older Oak Park home, taking care of property was paramount. This was also a priority to Andy. Andy and his colleagues have done work a handful of times for me- minor and major repairs, building beautiful wood handrails, painting, electrical repair carpentry, installations etc. The handrails were tricky and I have had several estimates. Andy did an amazing job problem solving and finding a solution. They are great to work with, do great work, and are super good people. Andy is a really smart, earnest person who is very professional and respectful. I really enjoy working w everyone on his team. Like any good professionals they tend to get busy, but it's worth waiting to get the job done right. When you do schedule something you don't get a "appointment" aka four hours window of time. You get a time and they show up when they say they will. I also love the ease of paying the invoice via the online portal quickbook. The most clunky thing is talking to the answering service, giving them all the information every time and waiting for a call to schedule something. But it's really how most services are because it's not feasible to answer the calls while on a job and it adds a lot to the overhead to have someone in the office. I hired Andy Sjostrom to do multiple things at my house. I saw that his ratings were all excellent, so he was the person I chose. This is his own business, and he takes a lot of pride in it. Totally knowledgeable and professional. Hire this man! I would have him back in a minute. If I need anything, he is now my go-to fellow. He takes his work very seriously, he is conscientious. I am delighted that he could get this all done. Again, very conscientious, hard working, and communicates very well and is very respectful. I was delighted when he called me to say he would be a few minutes late the second day, as he was still at Home Depot picking up wood and more drywall. I really appreciated that. I trusted him so much that I was gone from the house for much of the day, and just left him do his thing. He had to cut the ceiling out a bit for one of them, did the drywall patching, primed and painted both ceilings.
