Well, not quite, but at least north of the Thames they are. Yeah, this station was pretty handy, and was also quite nice. I do certainly love delving down into the depths of these places, and just experiencing the joy of being in a metro station that is over 100 years old, but still working as it should.

You'd think that such a small station would be on the list to be upgraded for more capacity but…read more.. it's not. Russell Square gets insane during the (weekday) (and weekend) rush hours because it's very close to several major office buildings and the massive British Museum. The station is in Travelcard Zone 1 on the Piccadilly Line, between King's Cross St Pancras and Holborn. Another station that has lifts, but it is not step free between the street level and platform level. It's worth noting that even though there are stairs (no escalators), there is a warning sign suggesting that you really should reconsider and take the lift. 175 stairs is a goodly number and unless you've completed your training for the London Marathon or an Ironman, you probably won't survive. If the lifts are out of order, get back on the train to the next station because it's less than a half mile walk. At street level, Russell Square is a Leslie Green designed structure that is a listed building.

Then again, like a lot of the London Underground stations, the trains are pretty frequent, and it isn't a huge walk to find something that it interesting, like a pub.

The Station has a great beer and dining garden, which is perfect for those hot, steamy summer evenings (hopefully...). Inside is just as pleasant with an interior of oak, mosaic walls and candles. The Station serves a blend of Mediterranean and modern European cuisine, aswell traditional British favourites. Overall I would describe the Station as a venue with a laid back, relaxed atmosphere and pleasant for grabbing a local pint.

This was the third time I have traveled with the train and it was clean, relaxing, we had breakfast and the train staff was very helpful if anything was needed. The waiting area and lounge can get a bit busy and there is limited seating. Depending on the arrival/departure schedule you may need to stand for a bit until seats open. But don't worry, you'll be at your destination very soon!

Incredibly rude staff. My husband forgot to take his phone out of his pocket. We were then berated for bringing luggage (normal sized bag plus carry-on). Then we were told more than once to get into the wrong line. One lady said that whatever she told us to do was correct (despite the signage and us questioning it), but the very next lady demanded to know who told us to go to her line, because it was incorrect. There was absolutely no need for the staff to be as rude as they were. You'd think they were all given notice this morning or something. We are not rude passengers. We try to make sure we're following the rules, we read signs before we ask questions, and we don't bring prohibited items, etc. We know it was nothing we did, nor was it anything we could have differently (apart from remembering to remove the phone from the pocket). They were treating everyone this way. I would rather brave CDG than do this again.

My trip is 3 months out and all they would have had to do is switch the date to one day earlier. I will not book with them again.

Our driver was there with a smile and a sign with our name on it. What a welcome sight after 12 hours of travel time! Our driver was so friendly. He told jokes most of the way to our Heathrow connection, and kept us very amused. He also had the car stocked with waters & CANDY! Kids thought he was the best driver ever. The company was professional. I arranged everything over the internet, pre-paid the fare and it all went as planned. No complaints. We haven't always had good luck with transportation companies, seems like they're never where they should be. This place is fantastic - highly recommend.

Overview: a beautiful station, very big and can be confusing, many stores and food options…read more ---- I stayed a hostel 5 minutes away by walking and this station was so convenient. The architecture was so beautiful at any time of the day. The inside being quite beautiful as well, especially when you walk upstairs overlooking the Eurostar trains and see a couple different statues there. My favorite was the large one of the couple embracing. Platform 9 3/4 is located in this station, for Harry Potter fans, the cart is available during the day to take a picture with for a price, but after hours they remove it and you can still take pics and videos with it! During my stay they had free ice cream outside the station that was super yummy and a nice little treat to have before heading out in my way to the trains. Inside the station are lots of places to eat and has cheap, convenient food spots like Greggs, and nicer sit-down places as well. It can be a bit tough navigating through the station because it's so big (especially when using maps and trying to find places like restaurants inside of the station) but for the train areas just follow the signs and it's pretty self explanatory. They even have a piano for people to play for fun which was cool to see and hear. Scanning in and out of the station is also easy because all you need is a credit/debit card and you don't even need to purchase a ticket which is so much more convenient compared to places in the US or France. ---- Overall: a great station to stay near and to go to, easy-ish to navigate and lots of places to eat at, very beautiful station as well

In my four months in London this year, the Piccadilly Line proved to be by far the most consistent…read moreline in the Underground circuit. Almost never late or with mysterious gaps in service, I could always rely on it to get me where I needed to go. This was often to the Holloway Road stop, which is the home of London Metropolitan University (city campus), the Russell Square stop (home to University of London at Birkbeck) and to Heathrow. Heathrow International Airport terminals 1 through 5 are the last stops on the train. if you are going to terminals 1, 2, or 3, they are all at one stop. There are two different Heathrow trains. One that goes to 1/2/3 and then 5, and another that first stops at 4 and then loops back around to 1/2/3, now headed towards Cockfosters. Due to the loop and such, it is faster to get to 1/2/3 using the one that also goes 5, not 4. The Piccadilly line, perhaps more than most others, goes quite far outside of central London. It can take you to the suburbs and some pretty far-out areas. You can get to Uxbridge or Hounslow or Osterly on this line - pretty distant. Therefore it is great for commuters. The Piccadilly Line also stops in some extremely busy and popular London areas. Stops such as Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square, Covent Gardens are tourist centers as well as huge shopping and dining areas. It also, like many other lines, runs through Kings Cross so you can transfer to nearly any other line easily. Overall, loved the Piccadilly Line, always in my heart!

Piccadilly Circus stop is my usual stop when I'm staying in SOHO but I promise I'm not Jack lol! A convenient location, really... in the heart of London with the Theatre District a stones throw away and iconic Carnaby street within a stroll. Boots is the convenience store or Primark if you're into souvenir tees and socks. British Pubs a plenty too! Piccadilly Circus stop is also where I met my soul mate... pretty English-ish lady with Twiggy lashes and angelic Bardot lips. We made eye contact and... "You're beautiful You're beautiful You're beautiful, it's true I saw your face in a crowded place And I don't know what to do 'Cause I'll never be with you..." And no romantic tragedy here:) The end.
