If you have never been to Eurostar, this is a train that can go from London to Paris and many other places. But the one I usually take is from London to Paris. You will have to get to St Pancras station. This place is quite large but easy to navigate. Our trip was in the early morning and many people came here earlier than the time the train leaves. Everyone will have to pass through immigration and security with their luggage and bags. The train itself is spotless but the process for getting to the train track is a little strange. They won't let you know which number it will be until it is super close to the time. When that happens then everyone is trying to hurry up to that certain number. That was a little bit on the hectic side. Overall though the train ride itself is smooth and we got premium seats so we also got a light meal and drinks while we were traveling on board. It takes about 2 hours and 16 minutes to get to Paris and I really love train rides so this wasn't feeling too long or too short. Had a fun time and a cool thing about this one is that we go underwater!! read more

Very smooth transition from cab to Eurostar train station with a herd of humans efficiently coasting through the safety entry points. They have an international currency exchange kiosk. Once in the terminal for Paris departure, we found refuge at a few basic seats. They offer two cafes and a clean bathroom. The train arrived on time with quick boarding. The lower large luggage area on the train is limited on a first come first serve basis, although has higher shelving available. The ride was great without any issues with clean bathrooms. They offer a Eurostar Cafe onboard where we ordered water and chips. The cashier was friendly and offered us French mini chocolates, which we graciously took. At the cafe we purchased subway passes for Paris called Navigo. Much easier process than flying. read more

This is a main train to Europe from London. A good way to travel from the UK. The trains are comfy but in a heat wave not so cool. The other thing is our train was cancelled and we got no notice and had to reschedule and wait 5hrs for the next train and that hosed up our plans. There was no "Sorry for the delay or inconvenience" or "for your troubles here's an upgrade". Nothing but here's your ticket. Would I use again, yes. Would I pay the upgrade fee yes. read more

2 stars for a smooth train ride from London to Brussels. But I was very unhappy Eurostar instructed to arrive 2-hours early to go through security. My party did as told, BREEZED through security, right into a waiting area that had some seating, but it was limited and every seat was taken. And most of this area had boundaries on where exactly you could stand. We were travel weary and desperately needed to rest, not a 2-hour stand around session. So other travelers beware. My future plan is to arrive there 45 mins in advance of departure, y'all do what y'all want. read more

I know this might sound a bit silly but I think it's important to make it clear that your experience is really dependent on what you're willing to pay for. Eurostar is one of the more prominent express train companies that offers direct connects between some of the most prominent cities throughout the UK and Europe. They have economy seats which is similar to southwest (more of a pay as you go) and standard seating to their Plus series which is similar to premium economy and business including complimentary meal, extra legroom, seating, food and drink service included in your ticket, and closer bathrooms. Of course you can go for the full shebang and opt for their First Class ticket which includes its own entry for security, a VIP lounge, and much much more. Their team is super efficient and very accomadating. The carts here allow you to purchase alcohol, snacks, and some hot items. I personally enjoy Plus and feel like it's a good value:price ratio. read more

Took the train out of London the other day and it was a slightly chaotic experience out of St. Pancreas. The train station is connected to the London underground which is convenient. Check-in for the train is fully automated by scanning the barcode on the ticket. After entering, there is a security check, before going through UK and EU immigrations. There are some e-gates entering the EU. Post immigration, there is a departure hall which is crowded and chaotic. There are a couple shops selling sandwiches and duty-free items. Boarding the train was also rather chaotic, despite assigned seats. There is space for luggage at the ends of each carriage. Small bags can be placed on top of the seating or underneath the seat. The standard seat features a slight recline, a tabletop, and a coat hook. Wifi was complimentary and worked well. The electric train was very quiet and stable. Most passengers were quiet and well behaved except for a few passengers that were heavily coughing...disposable masks and gloves might be a good idea. There are a couple cafe cars for standard passengers which feature a seletion of beverages and sandwiches. Payment can be made with Pounds or Euros. They have a card machine but I couldn't get it to work with my cards... Arrival at Gare du Nord was quick and easy. Got off the train within minutes of arrival and was on the Metro within minutes! read more

Eurostar ruined our one day in Paris! Our 11:33 a.m. train was cancelled and the next available wasn't until around 2:00 p.m. When we arrived close to 5:00 p.m., we only had time for a 30-minute taxi ride to the Eiffel Tower to snap a few pics before taking another 30 minute ride back to the train station for our 9:00 p.m. return to London -- an absolute waste of a day we'd planned for months. We couldn't reschedule since we were only in Europe for the weekend, and Eurostar offered no meaningful compensation. Although the agent who rebooked our trip to Paris politely upgraded us to Eurostar Plus seating, I was glad we did not pay for the enhanced seating because the food they served was disgusting -- bland, with an awful taste, and entirely unworthy of a "premium" seat. I will say the train ride was smooth and comfortable and the service was acceptable but avoid this company if you have a schedule to keep. You may end up paying luxury prices for stress, disappointment, and a ruined itinerary. read more

Took the Eurostar from London to Gare du nord in the early afternoon. We arrived around 90 minutes before our departure as suggested by others. It's a very busy place but relatively to navigate with clear signage and helpful staff. The line to the 2 passport controls weren't too bad. The staff held you at the entrance to the line and had signs and verbally let you know when it was time to enter the line. We went thru baggage security check (like U.S. TSA) and then thru the UK passport control then thru EU passport control. We had booked Standard Premier seats which was spacious and came with a hot meal. Comfortable seats for the 2-1/2 hour journey to Paris. The staff was very nice-ours had a great sense of humor! Arrival at Gare du Nord was another matter. It was pretty chaotic and confusing! But it beats the hassle of flying! read more

We purchased tickets on line & took the Eurostar line from the Pantras station through the Chunnel to Brussels. It is a 2 hr ride & costs 165 lbs per person. We were limited with 1 bag and a carryon each. We were told to get here 90 minutes early as we have to go through customs. Our ride was 2 hrs & we lost an hour. The train had over 20 cars and was very full. We took 2 steps up and into our car. There was space in the front & overhead for luggage. There was WiFi, power for technology , restrooms & food for sale. The New Zealand Blacks were in our car & were rather loud & rowdy. Eurostar is the high-speed passenger train linking London with Paris, Lille & Brussels via the Channel Tunnel. They started in 1994 and the 200 mph trains on high-speed lines began in 2010. We took a 1:31 Sunday train from London (St Pancreas) to Paris (du Nord). It ended up leaving at 2:16, and arrived into Paris around 5:40 (with one hour time change)...so about a 2.5 hour ride. Just absolutely amazing. We purchased the ticket on the Eurostar website (recommendation is to use a site like Rail Europe to plan a train trip, but actually use each provider's site to book/buy the tickets). We chose the time that was the most budget friendly, so the 1:31 one-way train cost $130 per adult, letting you choose your seats (since we wanted to sit together). We did not partake of any optional food or beverages while on board. We got on the train, car 17, seat 85, 86 (which was the very back). Unfortunately, the seats were facing the opposite of where we were going. There was space for our carry-on to be placed on the luggage racks above our seats and we got settled in. There was free wi-fi available immediately (speed of 40mb). We left the station at 2;16, about 45 minutes late. Our car was full, and there were a lot of commuters doing work while on board. The seats were comfortable with enough pitch. There are both European and British electric outlets available and the intercom system was very clear. Throughout our journey in England, we entered and exited out of tunnels constantly (losing internet whenever we entered a tunnel). But since we had internet, I was able to track our progress against Google maps, and gave me something to do on our trip. We actually don't follow a direct line to Paris, instead crossing the Strait of Dover at a narrow point. We entered a tunnel a bit before then, so I don't know when exactly we started to cross the Strait, but estimate it was around 2:57 (41 minutes into our trip). The crossing took about 17 minutes and there is nothing to see outside, with regaining navigational awareness at 4:14 (you lose an hour when going into France). This was near Sangatte. The journey through France was all above ground, and there was snow on the ground. We went first towards Lille, then towards Paris. One interesting observation was that the same Frenchman would make his announcements first in English then French in England, but then changed the order as soon as we were in France. There were no announcements while we were in the Chunnel, but I'm sure there is a protocol for that as well. We got to Paris du nord around 5:40, so most of our journey is actually on the French side. Paris du nord is huge (the biggest train station in Europe). Getting off was easy, and we entered the city of Paris around 6. It was wet and dreary, and our hotel room was so small, but it ended up fine the next day. read more

Definitely fast and efficient. Most of the staff we felt with were very nice and patient with American tourists who speak no French. My only complaints are: the lights are always on. We took a morning (6:01 am) train and everyone slept. But the lights were on the entire time which wasn't helpful. (And the seats are small and not very comfy but that's not exactly unexpected) the woman in the food cart was so incredibly rude. This was my third time using it to go from London to Paris and I have set in regular, business class, and in regular but at a table. Obviously business class is the the most preferred but at the table would be my next choice. You can put a pillow down and hide your eyes from the light. read more

Two words - organized chaos!! Going anywhere as a first-timer can be overwhelming, but I am always up for the task. I pay careful attention to signs for direction and if/when all else fails, I do not hesitate to ask an employee for assistance. As soon as I stepped into the station, I was confused. There were growing, long lines everywhere and all I wanted to do was figure out which line did I need to embrace myself to enter (before it became any longer). Sadly, no one was helpful, so I eventually figured it out on my own via loud speaker announcements and deciphering codes from what seemed like a million destination boards/screens. Although it was crowded and the lines were super long (on a Monday), the flow was nearly flawless. From check-in to embarking via the platform, it was a smooth process. Everything is numbered and labeled to find your seat on the train. The wifi was intermittent, but the ride from London to Amsterdam was not bad. I'm reviewing a train. Oh man. But what a great train this is. Europe has their rail network down. I'm so jealous. So jealous. This is the way to go if you need to go to/from Paris and London. Purchase was a breeze. Although check-in left much to be desired. We left from Paris Gare du Nord and the area around the train station is teeming with people. Good and bad though. Keep your wits about yourself because there are tons of pickpocketers here waiting. If someone gets unreasonably close to you, assume they're coming at you. And turn away or make a sudden movement. We got there about an hour before departure, but on this hot summer day, there were multiple trains leaving. It was hot and stuffy, and there was some chaos in figuring out where to que up. We eventually got through security and once inside the terminal area, it was nice and comfy. Way better than CDG I tell you that much. Journey was flawless and just over 2 hours long. Pass the time awing at the French countryside and the insane speeds youre going. Its definitely an experience. Will do again 10/10. read more

The entire experience with London to Paris was as smooth and efficient as could be. Although we were told to arrive 75 min early, the actual passport checking took less than 5 minutes, and boarding was a cinch as well. If only airports security could implement the same process. No silly requests to take laptops out or pour out all your water containers! The "snap" tickets allowed us to book a next day travel ticket for only 70 pounds each, and despite numerous warnings that our group could likely be separated, the four of us were seated adjacent. If you book more than 7 days in advance, you can select your departure time, make a seat selection, and still pay the same or even a little less. On board the train was super comfortable and well chilled. There was plenty of overhead rack space enough for one carry-on per person, plus end of the car bulk luggage racks that could handle much more. If this company wants to raise revenue, they would require people sitting face forward to pay a 10 Euro surcharge. Although sitting backwards never bothered me enough to care, I am sure that many would jump at the chance. USVlB charging ports or reliable wifi on board would have been so nice to have but since the trip's duration is rather short, our portable batteries did sufficiently well to pick up the sporadic signal. I would estimate the wifi worked unpredictably for 25% of the trip, but this was still better than nothing. Optional cafe on board dinner was reasonably priced at only 6 euros per entree, and served quickly. It was quite delicious and serving sizes were generous for either solo or sharing. read more

Most important tip is to book early to get a cheaper price. Have gone twice for London-Paris and it's a great way to travel. This time we were on a direct train (no stops) and it was about 2hrs 20min. St Pancras station is very nice, although the Paris Gare du Nord is not in the best neighborhood, with random people asking you if you want ride as soon as you get off the platform. Never thought I would Yelp review a train before. However, I had such a great experience I needed to highlight it. Fast and easy onboarding and comfy interior. I was expecting this to be a mess. Like an Amtrak....no offense to Amtrak fans. My expectations of trains are that they normally smell like a toilet and it's filthy. This wasn't the case with the Eurostar. It was very efficient. On time. The snack car was well stocked and surprisingly had a lot of foods on there. All around great experience if you are traveling between UK and Paris. This is my third trip on the Eurostar from London to Paris and it is a well-oiled and fast-running machine. These trains run right on schedule and right on time - staff hurry you through baggage and customs and prompt everyone to have their paperwork out and ready so the lines move quickly. Limited seating and tables available in the holding area where you may wait for up to 2 hours before your platform is announced and you can begin boarding. We showed up about 1.5 hours before departure, made it through security and customs in about 20 minutes, and then had warm food and coffee on the inside before we easily found and boarded our cabin, stored bags, and found receipts. The trains are very clean and new. Bathrooms were clean and all was in good working order. Only issue is the wi-fi was pretty bad/spotty the entire time so wasn't able to do any work. read more

After missing our initial train, I was pleased to sit solo without the family members who made us late. I sat with a nice couple celebrating their wedding anniversary with their teenage son, and across from us was a mother and daughter from Chicago. We got along so well, we ended up talking as a group about different places, experiences and visiting other places. Very friendly people made the trip fun. As soon as I found out they had a dining car, I went to purchase some wine and water to enjoy on my trip. Talking and enjoying a little fine wine made the time go by. read more

I have always been a fan of Eurostar but not having ridden on this train for a number of years was really disappointed with the in train WiFi and the service in the cafe was the slowest I have seen in years. The train journey itself was good and on time. The staff in our car were lovely and friendly. The seat quality left a bit to be desired and the service in the food car was slow as. One poor lady dealing with everything and the queue stretched two cars and it took me 40 mins wait to get a drink and I was only behind ten people. Truly disappointing and to top that the Wi-Fi kept dropping every minute and did not work for most of the trip. The waiting area before entering the gates is a disaster. Not as many places to sit given how many patrons they have, good luck with that or get there a lot earlier than your departure time The workers are nice by the security gate, but when you go into the gates and trying to find your car, it's a little bit confusing and they're not as helpful The inside is clean and roomy even if you dont get premium DONT get car 8 or 9 unless you want to be near a bunch of drunks because that's where the booze car is and the people we had drinking had no manners and just sounded like a loud frat party even though it was a later departure travel so people might've wanted to rest.. On my way back, we paid a little more for premium and the seats were more roomy, we weren't near the booze car so it was nice and quiet, the light meal they provided was actually very yummy It's still a great way to travel around europe and would recommend if you want to experience all the little countries around Europe read more

Pre-COVID review: Instead of flying into Paris from London, BF and I decided to take the Eurostar. The prices were good and it seemed like a fun way to travel. We booked a standard premier seat for the London-Paris part of the journey and a standard seat for the Paris-London segment. If you're lucky when checking out the tickets, the standard premier price could be a very good deal and cost almost the same or just a smidge more than standard. Some things to note from our experience: * Make sure you leave enough time to get through security and passport checks. * The standard premier includes comfy seats with ample leg room, mirror, book light, USB port, and charge port. You are also served a light meal: chicken or vegetarian main dish, bread and butter, dessert, chocolate, tea/coffee, wine/soft drink, and water. You can get refills of coffee and tea and wine. * For the standard, bring your own snacks or buy some for purchase. The seats have no extra amenities. No single seats. * Depart on the second level of Gard du Nord in Paris for London. * Depart on the International side of St. Pancras. Traveled during February vacation. London to Paris (round trip.) I bought our family tickets on the internet about a month before travel. Very easy process with a lot of times offered. We paid about $330 round trip for 2 adults and a child- I thought this was a great deal! HEADS UP: Arrive 30+ minutes prior to your departure or you will not be let on your trip. St. Pancreas has a very nice waiting area once you make it through security/customs which was very efficient- moved right along! The waiting area does not allow everyone a seat but the earlier you arrive the easier it is to find a seat. Super high tech bathrooms- individual stalls. Opportunities to buy food and drinks at the station. Everyone on your train all wait together and board at the same time. It was really easy identifying our car and seats. Plenty of space for luggage as a lot of patrons are just travelling for the day or take back packs. The train was clean and bathrooms too! Our wifi was great on our way to Paris (not so much on the way home.) There were plugs to recharge our electronics at our seat and I felt like it was pretty spacious. If i could give ZERO stars I would. I booked 3 tickets from London to Paris and exactly 1 week prior I had to cancel one ticket. I called and no answer. No way to cancel online so I had to wait until the next day to call again. I was rudely told no refund due to within 7 days. Um...I tried to call the day before and no answer so I did indeed call outside of the 7 days. After going back and forth with several rude people via email they will not refund the approximately $350 USD for one unused ticket. They should have done the right thing and USD $300 is a drop in the bucket for them. I feel that this company is a scam and are only interested in themselves. The WORST customer service I have ever encounted. Do the right thing as I did contact you withing the refund policy time frame. read more

Smooth journey on our trip to London from Paris, and back. The customs process from London is a lot more painless than in Paris. The train is a bit difficult to get on if you have heavy luggage. You also have to lift up your luggage onto the chrome racks which is also hard to do. The seats are comfortable and but not the widest. I tried to use the WiFi but it wasn't working properly for both journeys. The train travels very fast and it makes the London/Paris trip super short in time, just over 2 hours. I used the Eurostar for the first time in August 2020 and found the whole experience to be really good, saving the hassle of flying especially during the Coronavirus year. I like how the services go from city centre to city centre, meaning you don't have to mess about going to the airport. I estimate it actually saved me time on my recent trip to Paris, even including the 2 hours 8-minute train journey to London before-hand. The staff in majority seem really friendly, a few are a little rusty such as the staff member who refused to let me in the Business Lounge at Gare Du Nord, he was really friendly though and did apologise for this. The trains were comfortable and spaced out to support social distancing, they did appear to run on time other than my return journey which had a slight delay in Stratford due to customs? Security is also pretty straightforward, enter the ticket gate, go through passport control (you do this twice in the same location first for France and the UK at both London St Pancras and Paris Gare Du Nord, you then put your bags through airport-style scanners, do try to allow up to an hour, it doesn't normally take that long but to avoid rushing and to get a drink and get on your train before it departs to settle down, it is well worth it. Despite free wi-fi and meals being mentioned when booking, they were not provided, this was stated elsewhere on the website and ticket so it was kind of clear, but there was confusion as the online website still let me request a gluten-free meal. Do plan ahead and feel free to bring food, unlike on a flight you can bring liquids - I would advise it too as there was no gluten-free food after reaching the Eurostar area at Gare Du Nord, including in the Business Lounge. My prices did go up during booking despite being advised by Eurostar to wait a couple of days to be able to use my vouchers, in the end, I used my vouchers with a loyalty scheme and still ended up paying more, plus I lost the vouchers I could have spent elsewhere. I would have liked more information around the journey such as a map or perhaps an announcement when entering a new country / Channel Tunnel. I still really do like the Eurostar and I wish they expanded and provided services from The UK to beyond Netherlands, Belgium and France which they do now, it takes the hassle out of travelling, you can even use your mobile signal on the Eurostar too, even during the 30 or so mile-long tunnel. Obviously, at certain points, the signal can be intermittent as it goes through various tunnels and the country along the route, do note that while travelling from London-Paris your UK phone operator will take place while in the UK until you leave the channel tunnel, and vice versa for the other way around. While many aspects of my experience could be better, this is mainly issues due to clarity and the ongoing pandemic, the ticket price increase is another story where I felt deceived and lied too - the tickets still represented value for money and probably worked out similar, or perhaps slightly cheaper when considering bags and connections to the airport in comparison to flying, and this is something I look forward to doing again. What an incredible experience on a clean & comfortable train that actually runs on time! Germany, you are officially on notice with this one. If departing the UK for Paris (this train also goes the opposite direction into Brussels, Belgium), the Tube station that you'll have to take is King's Crossing/St. Pancras. This is off of the Picadilly line, which is colored in purple. St. Pancras International is a HUGE railway terminal that you'll have to read very carefully in proceeding to. You absolutely do not go outside of the building to access the Eurostar station. Let me repeat: DO NOT EXIT THIS BUILDING!!! You have to go up some stairs at around 200 meters inside the terminal, then you'll see the passport controls for UK citizens + non-citizens. Eurostar tickets are comparable to airline tickets with regard to pricing, and overall booking. Depending on how early or late you book your tickets, pricing can vary from 100-250 pounds per person, if not more. This is for Paris traveling. Highly recommended to book online (like everything else). While the travel time to Paris is normally two hours and twenty-one minutes, you'll have only one stop in between that is located in the south England countryside (Ebbets). For those curious about how long you will be in the tunnel underneath the English Channel, the answer is not long. Probably 20-30 minutes. Most of the travel is within the English & French countryside, which can seem somewhat unremarkable. WiFi onboard is pretty so-so (sporadic connection, 3G-like speed), and there is food served at a cafe onboard (Car #8, I think). Conductor instructions are usually presented in both English & French. You'll know that you are in Paris upon seeing the graffiti on the walls of buildings & adjacent structures on the tracks due to being in the south part of the city. Sad, but true. Other than this, the rest of Paris architecture is magnificent. Taxi drivers are plentiful at the Paris train station, and well-organized. Probably waited 20 minutes while there was 40 people in front of me. Afterwards, a 15-18 minute ride to the area around George V Boulevard, and Rue Clement Marot & Rue Marbouf. We paid 15 Euros for the taxi, which was reasonable. The Eurostar- a reasonable option that is fun versus flying into Charles DeGaulle or Orly airports. Try it! read more

I took the Eurostar train twice. Once going from London to Paris, and then about two weeks later on the return from Paris to London. This high speed train is seriously fast and a great time saver. The ride is just over two hours long for 214 miles and best of all, it runs every hour or so. read more

Best train ride I've ever taken. Quick, accommodating, clean, and awesome. The trip from London to Paris was smooth like butter. We arrived at the station earlier than we thought, and we went over to the Eurostar desk to see if we could move our trip up earlier. It cost £30 per person to make the switch, but it was worth it to get in to Paris three hours earlier. Overall, I was impressed with how efficient the Eurostar was. On the way back from Paris to London, we had premium seats, and the cost of the tickets included breakfast. It was perfect for the ride back! If you can train it, you're on track for an adventure! Flying in from the US, we planned to be in London for a week. With so much to do and see, we opted for the Eurostar to Paris and to Lyon. We stayed near Tower of London so leaving from King's Cross St. Pancras Station is conveniently closer than Heathrow or Gatwick. Fantastic way to travel and see the countryside, complimented by the beverage cart! Nice selection of beers, decent snacks and sandwiches and comfortable seats. Arrived to both destinations as scheduled and easily maneuvered through the train stations. Flying is another option but in comparison to the security lines the difference is an hour less by train. read more
