She is dishonest, cold, and completely unfit to work with terminally ill patients. I came to her during one of the most vulnerable times of my life, battling stage 4 cancer. Instead of compassion, I was met with lies, avoidance, and outright negligence. She deliberately gave me false information and dismissed my care needs multiple times -- not just once. She's not only untrustworthy, she's dangerous. Palliative care is supposed to be about improving quality of life. Charlotte Byrd made mine worse. She lied to get out of doing her job, left me without support, and treated me as a burden, not a human being. Her behavior is not only unethical -- it borders on medical malpractice. No one in this condition should have to endure her attitude, her deception, or her refusal to fulfill basic responsibilities. I do not feel safe around her and I fear for any other patient under her care. I have reported her to hospital administration and am filing a formal complaint with the Alabama Board of Nursing. I strongly urge Mitchell Cancer Institute to remove her from their staff immediately. No patient--especially someone in palliative care--should be treated like this. She should be fired. Immediately.

The medication was ordered and I paid to have it shipped to the office, and then the office called me back to schedule the appointment for the procedure. When we arrived for the appointment, I asked if the visit would be covered by our copay or applied to our deductible and what the approximate cost would be. I was told they couldn't give any estimate because they "wouldn't know the codes" until after the visit. Honestly that didn't make much sense to me since the treatment had already been decided, the medication had already been ordered, and the appointment was scheduled specifically for that purpose. I understand billing can vary, but it seems reasonable to at least give patients a rough price range before agreeing to a procedure. I just didn't want to be surprised by a large bill. I was able to get the cost after asking the PA about it, which he had to go up to the front desk to let them know the procedure and find out what I will owe. This is something that you should be able to tell your patients upfront, before entering the treatment room. The interaction at the front desk was also uncomfortable. When I asked about the cost, the tone felt dismissive and passive aggressive and I was made to feel like my question was unreasonable. The lack of upfront transparency and the way this was handled at the front desk was off putting. Because of that, I don't think I would return to this office

This place is what's wrong with the healthcare industry. Its a complete money grab.I called to see…read moreif treated a certain condition that I had and I was completely lied too. The receptionist had to ask someone if they treated this condition and they told the receptionist yes, I waited on the phone for several minutes for them to ask.I had already called several other dermatologist and even went to one that my family doctor referred me too and they did not treat the condition. So thats why I told the receptionist at Pensacola derm that I was having a hard time finding someone to treat my mild condition. Well once they get me in I see the doctor and he states that he does not do the procedure because he does not get good results, of course this is already after they get my money. So money and time wasted over what a simple yes or no over the phone would have done. The other dermatologist office were able to tell me no, but nope that an easy $250 for less than a 5 min waste of time conversation. Please do not support this establishment and band togeather to change this money grab mindset of healthcare.
