The coffee itself was good and I liked that the açaí bowl came with a good assortment of fruits and granola to add different textures. After a short wait and on a very busy day, thankfully we were able to get a table for brunch and staff seemed to be very accommodating. There were 4 of us in group, and we ordered food, drinks, coffee. Things seemed to be coming randomly, and my entire group h received their food except for me, and I ordered yogurt and granola, which was the easiest and fastest to make but after my group finished having breakfast, I finally received my yogurt and granola after I had to find the waiter and ask what has happened. They didn't seem to care and they were not accommodating making it seem like the kitchen was taking too long when in truth, they probably forgot about it. We also ordered juices and immunity shot, which took forever to arrive, way after I received my yogurt. But the worst part was the immunity shot, it was not only disgusting and awfully tasty, it made my throat, and mouth hurt, and made my lips numb. When I told the staff that the drink was awful, they didn't seem to care and they were not apologetic or empathetic about it. It destroyed my sense of taste and I couldn't enjoy my day afterwards. Angelina's is our go to brunch spot after a workout class in midtown. We love that they serve labneh on their toast, and we especially love their toast with labneh jam and honey plate. The jam is a berry jam that is very dark and thick. Taste homemade and not like it came out of a jar. Perfectly sweet. The combination of the labneh and honey is great. The bread they use for their toast here is also delicious and usually warm. The Angelina breakfast comes with crunch thick bacon that is slightly sweet. The potatoes are thick with just the right amount of spice. The service is a hit or miss depending on how busy they are. It may take some time for the waiter to come by your table. The manager is usually seen when we go on the weekends and he makes sure that we are enjoying our food. They froth their espresso here for their iced americanos so they taste creamy without the need for milk. The smoothies here are BIG but they taste delicious and natural and not like they have syrups. I came on Monday early afternoon as I wanted to have a heartier brunch before heading to the airport. I ordered their detox of oz green juice and the #3 adult grilled cheese with turkey and avocado. My friends also followed suit with ordering other adult grilled cheeses and the crepes. Needless to say, we were all quiet as we scarfed down our food! It was so tasty! I personally like my sandwich though wouldn't call it a "grilled cheese" as it seemed lacking in the cheese department. The honey Dijon was an interesting flavor as well, I'm not sure I'd keep it on if I order it again. But overall, it was very tasty and filling. My friends also enjoyed their grilled cheeses and one ordered crepes and said they were the best they had. Definitely a car full of happy customers! My only critique would be the lack of staff. Love this local cafe and all of its menu selections. It's located in the shops of midtown on the opposite side of Target. You can find parking in the street *if you're lucky* or can park in the garage and take the walk here. It's great for breakfast/brunch and they even serve mimosa which is awesome. It does tend to get really busy and the inside is rather small and the outside has a few tables but for the amount of clients, not enough. Once you do snag a table, you're set as the food doesn't take a long time to come out and it's fresh and delicious. I've tried a few of their items on the menu but my favorites are the waffles (add your own toppings), the crepes are great! I've tried #1,2 and the Nutella crepe with strawberries. I stumbled upon Angelina's on Instagram and, after seeing their mouthwatering grilled cheeses and because of our shared name, I knew I had to go! The quaint cafe seemed overshadowed and hidden between much larger eateries. Though quieter than its neighboring competitors, there was something alluring and cozy about Angelina's physical venue. Servers were warm and welcoming. Service was quite quick as well, but a bit unstructured. We ended up eating our entrees at least halfway before our side dishes (chips and a croissant) were brought out. Fun fact, the side chips are actually plantain chips. We only ordered food from the cafe and it was alright, but nothing out of the ordinary. The "Parmesan Crusted Grilled Cheese", aka the legendary dish that attracted us to the restaurant, did not live to its expectation. It wasn't oozing with melted cheese and dripping with grease... rather, it was kind of dry and flaky. It tasted like something that we could've made at home. The "Apple & Brie Grilled Cheese" was actually oozing with cheese, more flavorful, and messier that the latter (likely because of the added honey mustard and those delicious caramelized onions). This sandwich was very enjoyable, but surprisingly lite and still left me a little hungry. Unfortunately, the venue was sold out of most of their items today (waffles, empanadas, cookies, to name a few...) so we opted for their "guava and cheese croissant" to satisfy our sweet tooth. It was flaky, soft, warm, and lightly sweetened. My own bias perhaps, but I would've liked it to have been more buttery and filled with more guava. While it was admittedly more enjoyable than the "Parmesan Crusted Grilled Cheese", we still didn't feel the croissant was good enough for a return trip. All in all, it's a cute place to stop by for a quick bite when in the area. Not worth the drive from Fort Lauderdale to Miami though. This is me and my boyfriend's go to breakfast spot. Although there's normally a short wait on the weekends, the outdoor seating is great for sunny mornings over coffee. In the past, we've ordered the smoothies, açaí bowls, chicken and strawberry salad (amazing!) and omelets. All of which were fantastic.
