Just moved to the area and had high hopes for fresh produce reasonably priced with aisles of ethnic goodies not found at the supermarket just a few thousand feet away... The produce was lackluster in volume and choice and priced at or higher than area prices for in-season fruits and vegetables. Specialty items were definitely at a premium. There were some aisles with ethnic finds such as Greek, Italian, Polish but skip the deli and looked more like a hangout for locals at Angelo's - prepared foods. Next to that area appear to be what once was fish and seafood now filled in with random sale items. It was depressing and disappointing. The price here at D'Angelo's is very good, I walked out for some good produce to make a salad this evening, and I found delicious escarole for $1.49 I saw the service team just before 7:00 PM getting all their closing work done there's many TVs inside by the hot food bar and the check out, some interesting advertisements on display... And during normal shopping hours, there's music! It's a nice clean operation in there, some of the discounted produce is wrapped up toward the back by the deli, and I highly recommend checking it out if you're shopping on a budget. read more

Got there at 6:23PM on Sep 22nd, 2025 and the lady at register 1 announced it was 6:30 and the Deli was closing ant to finish ip your shopping. Got tonthe Deli at 6:26 (3 people behind counter) and asked what time they closed. Reponse was 6:30. Asked it I could get a small container of macaroni salad and they said it was too late. I moved to McHenry about 4 years ago I then started shopping here but as soon as I started shopping here I found myself resisting going here for one huge reason.. The employees that work in the deli. Section seemed. Extremely Resistant to give me my deli meat cut to my ordering how I like it. I like my meat always slice shredded!! They always give me a resistance to preform this task which I am assuming is. Quote. There. Job !! So I stayed away for a long time from Angelo because of their behavior. So I decided to try it again today and exactly same problem. The lady who waited on me was rude and she didn't cut my meat how I requested she sliced it. Thin not. Shredded. I asked her. 3. Times is that shredded? She. Ignored me . Extremely rude deli people now I'm going to have to stay away from Angelo again. Very very sad otherwise I like the place.. read more

I love Angelo's. The hot food section is always great and the store smells good. It's maddening! I love the Italian Beef. The Au Jus is a restorative. I love the deli salads to death and I can always find sales. It's just super selection and Old World variety. Being able to find Polish products is also a boon, as well as other Global and European specialties. All around a great store. read more

Where did you get these thighs, off a Cornish hen? $8.23 for this? I will never pick up this up out of the cold case again. When we would get this off the steamer tray at the deli, it was breasts. I was shocked when I opened up this container from the cold case and saw what was in it. How am I supposed to parse this out between two people? Thanks for the $8 worth of gravy. The only reasons that Angelo's is not getting a full five stars from me are that they don't always have everything that I need, and the produce is a little iffy. Other than that, this is one of the best supermarkets in McHenry! And it's a small, family-owned business, so shopping here supports their livelihood. Angelo's has great prices on almost everything, especially their deli meats and butcher meats. Often when I'm in town, my dad and I will walk in, see what's on sale, and then decide what we're making for dinner. Even when stuff's not on sale, the prices are still great, especially compared to somewhere like Jewel. We picked up some not-on-sale flank steak there last night for $7.99 a pound! Pretty good deal. You can often get massive boneless, skinless chicken breasts there for $1.99 a pound, and the serving will last you days. They have some interesting imported foods, a lot from Poland in particular. Sometimes it's fun to peruse that aisle and try something totally random. They also have a large selection of jarred Italian goods, like peppers and spreads and olives. The staff are all incredibly nice and friendly and they'll know your name after a few visits. Every time I visit Angelo's, I walk out happy! read more

Angelos is a great business, full of hardworking individuals. Most of the people you see complaining on here are just Karens and Kens who didn't get their way. The shelves are always stocked, deli is always serving quality food (especially the fried chicken), and the managers do a great job of keeping the store alive and well. This is the best grocery store in town and don't let any of those other reviews deture you from coming in. Favorite store of all time! read more

I ordered chicken wings for a party in Addison. I picked up the wing yesterday 12/12/20. I got to the party only to find the wings were raw. I ordered 1/2 bbq and half hot. You could tell that all wings were made hot then they must have realized their mistake and dumped bbq sauce on 1/2. I called because I was so embarrassed that the wings weren't cooked. I had to put them in the oven to cook just so we could eat them. The person at store I spoke to was a jerk. Flat out said that this never happens. Well it did and they weren't even apologetic. I've used them for years and I understand things happen but don't tell customers they are lying. That is unforgivable. Shame on whoever I spoke to. Horrible customer service. read more

Extremely weak bakery...I'm talking one rack of baked product to select from. Produce is just OK & the deli pretty much stunk. Sloooooow checkout...the chick had to closely examine every item to locate the barcode. I can't foresee a reason to come back and shop here...there are many other places to pickup groceries. This day in age, you really need to have something unique in the store that keeps customers coming back every week. They have nothing & it looks like they haven't updated the store since the 80's. Can't see this store staying around for very much longer. Sad, cause I know they are family owned. They need to take notes for Caputos and Josephs. read more

We are never disappointed with the meat or deli. On Tuesday 5/5/20 every Mexican restaurant and grocery store was so busy that we kept getting a busy signal because of Cinco de Mayo. So we stopped at Angelo's and got el pastor. They had chicken and pork . Delicious! What a treat! read more

I stopped into Angelo's twice in the last week, to their Johnsburg location. I was very disappointed both times. They are no longer requiring masks, but besides that every single employee I saw or was waited on by had their masks on worn beneath their nose, making them entirely useless. As someone who is higher risk I am very careful where I shop. If stores can't be careful to follow sensible guidelines in a pandemic, how careful are they about other health requirements? Amazing Italian cookies, especially the ones with fig filling! I don't think I'll be able to eat Fig Newtons again after trying these. Everything in the bakery and prepared for counter looks deliciously homemade and yummy. Not sure about the rest of the store. read more

I find that shopping at Angelo's is a wonderful experience. The produce is fresh the deli selections are vast with low prices and without losing the quality. The service is exceptional they don't act like robots. Unlike most stores these days you're appreciated and not scowled at for asking a question or needing direction. They don't have a large bakery but they do carry baked goods from other bakeries downtown When you are on a budget for groceries you shop for sales at many stores but I never miss a week at Angelo's for their reasonable everyday prices as well as their sale pricing. Some people don't understand that the cost of upgrades to a store gets passed on to the customers, so I don't mind the store not being fancy. read more

Literally spent an hour filling my cart with groceries to get to the register to find out their computer system is down, basically saying I have to pay cash! I really like this store. I shop here often. They have great prices on meat, deli and produce. The Deli has a nice selection and carries some hard to find specialty items at great prices. Also good prices on the basics like milk, bread and eggs. Yes - it is an older store - but you pay a lot of money to shop at stores with fancy displays, and expensive flooring. I like the fact that it is locally owned, and not a corporate conglomerate. You can't buy tires, jogging pants or a trampoline here ....... just groceries. A good old fashioned small town grocer. There is nothing better than to have found this store in McHenry. No more large Jewel for us! Italian home cooked dishes in their hot foods area and original cannoli and chocolate cannoli in their little bakery. The owner and his wife are always there to answer any questions (order your fresh turkey NOW, or your brisket for BBQs). Amazing that this grocery is such a secret!
