This school has been great to the development of my child. He started at this school when he just turned 3. He was one of those kids where the average parenting tips and tricks did not work. Believe me, I've read more parenting books than I'm willing to admit. His favorite time is playing outside where there are multiple play structures, a garden and a chicken coop. He follows rules better and generally enjoys playing with all his friends. Academically, he will be 5 soon and reads at 3rd grade level. He never liked coloring or writing so he doesn't​ write much. He also does simple math and count by 2s and 5s. If you look at his development, it is quite uneven. I'm glad this school has always tried to guide him to practice skills he needs to master but never forced him to do what everyone does. His class teacher is Ms Maria and my child loves her. Ms Mariyam teaches the other class but also teaches him when they prep for special events. Throughout the year, they do spring gardening, mother's day tea party, father's day and all the family holiday celebrations. I especially love the Thanksgiving activities. I would recommend this school to anyone without hesitation. read more

My daughter attended AMS for a little over 2 years, we came from a home daycare so this was a big change for all of us. From the first visit to the school with Maryam we felt comfortable with her as well as with the cleanliness and maintenance of the school. My daughter had so much fun at school everyday and by the time she left for kindergarten she was well on her way to reading. Maryam makes learning fun for the kids and does so many great projects with them, my daughter loved when they planted the garden and got to raise little chicks. She made great friends and gained self confidence while attending AMS and I know we definitely made the right choice in letting her attend pre school there. read more

We started our first son at Angels during the pandemic. We were already extremely nervous to be sending our child anywhere, but our child flourished at AMS. Maryam went above and beyond to help us get him into a great school when it was his time, and even helped improve his fine motor skills (a challenge point for him) so he would be ready. I loved the Mother's Day tea dates! My child loved when they would take care and raise little chicks. For his first time in a school environment ever, his excitement for school was cultivated and nurtured at AMS which will continue on as he grows. Had no issues adjusting his schedule with trips or family functions. Maryam was very flexible for any appointments, and sent occasional pictures and videos with updates on his academic progress. We didn't always see him do certain things at home, but he did them with her at school. If your focus is on the kids, what they are getting out of it, and getting a Montessori education, that's what we got from here. read more

All my 3 kids have received great education from this school. Teachers are knowledgeable and friendly. Miss Maryam loves every kid like they are her own. Kids developed different skills in life. My older son who is 16 now started to read at 5 and have always love to read and learn by himself. His books piled up can be taller than him. My daughter loves to paint and love to create her arts. The baby of our family learnt to count and spell. He loves to try to pronounce every word he sees. This is not a day care, it creates a solid foundation for kids. Even though my son was only in for 3 months (we had a sudden move come up so we have to leave the school) he had a great time! He made some amazing progress with the school. He was very messy before and now he is much better about cleaning up, he is better at eating food, and he isn't as shy when it comes to singing and dancing. Before when anyone noticed he was dancing or singing he would stop right away. Now we can sing with him! I'm so glad he got to have this experience (even though short) at this school! read more

A real, classic and inclusive Montessori program in Concord. AMS is a small school with a dedicated set of teachers. My son has attended AMS for about a year and has grown tremendously (both academically and socially). My son has a learning disability and has had a hard time learning to read. We had nearly given up when we discovered AMS. The teachers took extraordinary steps to help him learn his letters, sight words and begin the blending process. Our son also has begun simple math problems and counts up to 100. AMS has developed our child's social skills by allowing our insurance company to place a behavioral therapist to mentor our son. Our child now has friends and even goes to an after school program with his friends. During the year, he has played with newly emerged butterflies, planted plants and visited pumpkin patches. We are pleased with our son's progress and highly recommend this school. read more

AMS blends montessori teaching with family values. Ms. Angel and Ms. Maryam balance each other out. Ms Angel brings discipline and order in the classroom while Ms. Maryam focuses on fun and learning. Don't get me wrong, no one gets spanked at this school but the kids are polite and well behaved. There is also Ms. Shuba (sp?) who helps out at the school--very kind and sweet. Our daughter started AMS after she turned two and we couldn't be any happier. At age four, she is reading and starting with math. AMS is not a daycare business. The teachers are passionate about teaching and we get treated like family. If you were to interview principals at nearby schools, they are likely to give good reviews about this school. read more

I LOVE THIS SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!! My son started here at the beginning of summer and has fallen in love with the teachers and the method of teaching. In the few months that he has been attending Angel's Montessori Pre-School (AMS) he has learned to read short words like "MAT, CAT, SAM and DAD". He is also a a better listener and has made lots of friends that are very happy children as well. Everyday when I drop him off he has a little play time and then has his learning time and is always excited that he is learning. You know when you have a great place taking care of your child? When they are not ready to leave when you come to get them. They want to play with their friends and hang out with the teachers that are there specifically because they love children and their job shaping and molding the bright minds of these children. The only time I have ever seen a sad face here is when there have been skinned knees or a kid that had to stay inside cause they didn't do their daily work. I love these teachers. They are very vocal in how the child is progressing and concerns they have. My son writes with a very light hand and was given special homework to strengthen his handwriting. These teachers have taught my son several songs that he has memorized quickly and knows his seven continents by heart and can even point them out. How could you not like that. I am very happy with this school and how happy they keep my son. He has constant access to water fountain, bathroom and his lunch box that also has a spill proof cup in it everyday. These teachers don't just let the kids run crazy and don't deny them anything they may need. As a parent I am allowed to come and watch my son work or play and that makes me very happy and gives me comfort to know their door is always open for questions or concerns. If there is a question take your time with one of the teachers, they will answer them for you. I did a lot of looking and price checking and this school is cheaper and more close knit and makes it feel like a family gathering everyday. read more

My 2 kids (2 & 4 yrs old) have been going to school here for about a year. I absolutely love the school, the teachers, and how well my kids have grown since they started here. My favorite thing is that even though they are different ages they share a classroom. This seems simple, but it's seriously made my children so much closer as siblings. My older daughter has become much more caring, and loves teaching her younger brother how to do new things. Same goes for my son. He learns so much from the older kids in the class, just by watching them do things. On top of that, I love how warm AMS is. They don't just say hi and bye, they give their kids hugs, and have a real emotional bond with each child. Angel's Montessori has been an excellent fit for our son. He started at AMS at 3.5 years old after being at a small in-home daycare and needing more structured and challenging stimulation. He is extremely active, meticulous, and independent and we were searching for a school that would respect his natural psychological, physical, and social development. AMS has proven to be effective in fostering a highly supportive, comfortable, and engaging environment. We chose AMS not only because of their ratings and qualified staff, but also because of the amazing outdoor space complete with a vegetable garden, grass area, play structure, swings, chicken coop, and covered patio. The space is enormous and well maintained. The classrooms are clean and organized with many challenging (and fun!) activities for the children that seem to be rotated and updated regularly. The teachers at AMS are caring, kind, patient and clearly dedicated. There is good communication and I am aware of how my son is doing. In just the 5 months he has been there, he has made tremendous developmental progress. It's quite astounding. He can't wait to share everything he's learned with me when I pick him up and talks incessantly about all his friends and the work they did that day. When he first started at AMS he would not sing in public, now he's belting out songs everywhere we go, trying to sound out and spell words he sees, is much more fluent with his alphabet and numbers by sight. I appreciate that the teachers also focus on developing effective communication skills and proper etiquette. The kids are allowed to get their hands dirty in the garden picking vegetables and looking for rolly polly bugs. When you visit AMS, you are greeted with lots of smiles and hellos. We enrolled our 2.5 year old daughter into Angels after looking at many different preschools. We were really nervous about the new journey for her as she's always been watched by her grandparents. It started out rough for her, crying lasted awhile, she wasn't eating her lunch and she was still shy around the other kids. The teachers were very patient with her and spent the necessary time to acclimate her to her surroundings during her first few months. Now, she's been there a little over 4 months and things are greatly improving. She doesn't cry, she's eating her lunch and making new friends. I truly love AMS. I enrolled my son a year ago, I looked for a school that can help me with my son's social skill and they have done amazing everyday he is happy and looks forward to come back and learn. Sharing days are one of his favorite days ,where he can share a story, picture or books of his like. I definitely recommend this school, teachers are very helpful and understanding, they are all certified Montessori teachers. Class rooms are very clean and organize a perfect environment for kids to learn. Another amazing feature AMS has is the play ground, a large land where kids can run and be active with areas to plant vegetables . They keep parents involved with the school app where I can see daily activities and work process also with events and parties like Mother's Day tea party, spring concert, thanksgiving lunch pumpkin patch field trip and many others. My son has gone to AMS for 2 years now and truly could not speak more highly of a school in all aspects a parent and student could speak to. Let's start with the outstanding curriculum; he is 5 years old, reading, writing, knows 70% of the states and their locations, geography all together, science and biology's, and all the appropriate social interactions and skills people need to build sturdy foundations for life. The teachers; I won't deny they are strict, but not in a negative way. The rules and boundaries they teach our children help them become organized, focused and aware. Let me just say this, as soon as I carried over their method of rules into my home, life has become sooo easy! In addition, the teachers are all very well educated, friendly and truly caring to the students. The tend to their needs appropriately. I have had many hours helping in the classrooms or during school events to be able to observe these things outside of just the time dropping off and picking up my son. The school physically; off of the main strip so its not completely out there in the open and is surrounded by a residential area. These classrooms are very clean and organized. Cubbies, hangers and folders for each child so no need to share. There are plenty of materials for all of the diffent levels and stages of learning. A big thing that was a plus is the kids get raised cots and you having individual easy to use bedding for each child during nap time. The outside is fitted with a large covered patio, swings, grass space, large play structure, large enclosed sand box, chicken coupe and gardens. They get great life experiences and lessons with gardening and taking care of the chickens. The teachers are very good about making time to talk with parents regarding the happenings of the day, how good or hard a child is doing in something and to answer any questions or address concerns. The person that said they called, but got no answer...you really missed out! I have a step daughter going to another preschool unfortunately and as we researched other schools, I have never found one that compares to AMS! If you want to give your child the best foundation in life, this would be it! I wish I had learned of AMS sooner! read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. I took my child out of this school in less than a week after starting. The teachers were great, but the woman who runs the place and is in charge was......bizarre? tyrannical? rude? in need of medication? All of those descriptions fit. I could not believe the way she would speak to me and my wife. I can only imagine how she was with the children. I noticed right off of the bat that when my child came home, she was DYING of thirst. I thought that was strange. Then I found out why. Apparently the strange old woman who runs the place, would only allow the children to drink from one fountain. My child does not drink from other peoples cups, much less from water fountains. Quite frankly, that's the quickest way to spread sickness amongst children. So my child stayed without water for the whole time there. To make matters worse, the place had no climate control whatsoever. I had the displeasure of attending a parent meeting there this week and I felt like I was going to pass out because it was so hot. This was after 5pm, I can only imagine how hot it must be during the afternoon hours. This is Concord, it gets pretty toasty during the summer. I brought this up during the meeting and was told air flows in through the other room. But air conditioning? No. I took my child out of this miserable place the next day while the strange old woman yelled at me and my child in front of all of the other children and teachers, making my child cry. She was yelling that she does not need me or my child here. I could not believe it. Can you imagine the damage she has done to my 4 year old by screaming at her and me in front of everyone like this? This person has no place around children. My greatest wish is that no other parent wastes their time with this place. I was warned by another parent about this place, but I went ahead and gave it a shot. I can only guess what psychological damage my 4 year old has sustained from that creepy old woman. She should be taken as far away from children as possible. Her personality disorder is quite obvious, and it's disturbing to think that this person has children in her "care" and is responsible for teaching them. Please do yourself a favor, and avoid this place. Your child is worth a whole lot more than this. read more

I have to say, I and my daughter are more than blessed. My daughter was at St. Claire's Christian Preschool in Pleasanton, Ca prior to Angel's. I was fortunate to purchase a condo in Concord. I would not move in until I found a good school. I interviewed many schools and just about gave up hope at any school I thought would meet my expectations. Six schools later and still not moved into my home I had my eye on Angels but finally called. A gal named Maryam picked up the phone with a warm voice. I went on, basically on a tangent explaining how frustrated I was about not being able to find an education for my one and only daughter. Explaining that education is my number one priority she reassured me that this was not the same as any preschool. She was kind and said please come visit. Needless to say I did. When I went in and had a tour, to my surprise children were reading at three years old. I was amazed. I entered my child. My child has had challenges, for she is extremely boisterous, as well as loving but longs for attention. This school and the teachers have taught her how to learn, listen, follow direction and be a leader. It was a challenge for myself as well at first. I learned I needed discipline in a healthy way as well. My daughter has learned more at this school than anywhere I have ever had her. I am so proud to have her in a healthy atmosphere where she is challenged and knows she is smart, loved, and an influence on other children. Furthermore, I pack her lunch everyday and if I forget a water? They make sure she is nourished. When I pick her up, every day for some reason she always says, "I'm thirsty mommy" she runs to the fountain and drinks water? Hhhhmmmmm, it's fun for children to be independent. I know for a fact water and nourishment is not kept from them. It is absurd to me that adults would accuse such things. For heaven sakes, they have chickens, and build a beautiful garden every year in which is shared with the families. My child has grown leaps and bounds. I love the fact that they have individual attention to grow. When the child is having trouble with a subject they take the time to teach. These people have the highest education even so much more than I. I have the upmost respect for people running, not a daycare, but an actual school because after all, isn't this what we need our children to grow up to learn? Angel, the owner has a double master's degree in child psychology as well as in education. Maryam has a bachelor's degree in human service's with a focus of early childhood development. Ms. Shubida, another teacher, has her bachelor's degree in English, liberal arts, and computer science. I mean really, how can anyone second guess the clear choice of taking their child to Angel's Montessori School? The choice was clear to me as still is. This is the most solid foundation for a child to have a successful life. When a child shows aggressive behavior it is corrected immediately to teach not only self respect but respect for others. I am actually offended at a bad review. It is amazing to me that parents let their children get away with bad behavior. I recommend this school to any parent that wants an education for their child rather than just a daycare. I love this SCHOOL. read more

My family moved to Walnut Creek about 2 years ago and we had to uproot our children mid-school year for a transfer. I was not excited about having to go through the trouble of finding a comparable Montessori school to the one we were going to in another city, and to do so mid-school year was a challenge. I called Angels and Maryam answered the phone. Right away she started answering my questions intelligently and honestly. We were able to set up a meeting that same day and when we walked in I could tell right away my children would be happy. The teachers were all very accommodating and kind. They were patient with the children and really paid attention to them making sure their needs were met. The children at Angels are happy and also very bright! All the teachers make it so the children are eager to learn and "show off" what they know. I had a 3 year old boy read me a story and another 3 or 4 year old do division and multiplication for me. Obviously these kids are very bright and not the norm, but the Montessori style of learning shows children they can do anything they put their mind to, and their age does not define what they can or cannot do. I am extremely happy with this school and would recommend Angels Montessori and Maryam and Angel to anyone who will listen. I am writing this review because I want every parent to know how wonderful Angels Montessori School is. When my family moved to Northern California finding a Montessori Pre-School was our top priority. We have a 3 and 2 year old. We visited every Montessori Pre-School that was around within a 20 mile radius. As soon as we walked into Angels Montessori School (AMS) we just knew it was for the right one for us. AMS should be the catalyst for every Montessori School. I have to admit I was a bit apprehensive with enrolling my kids, especially my son, because all the students, even the 2 year olds, were so well behaved and all worked so obediently. I didn't want to be the parent with the rowdy kids running around. In my meeting with Angel and Maryam my initial feelings about the school were validated upon learning that Angels Montessori School is a member of the American Montessori Society. They are visited annually by National consultants that evaluate their classrooms and help to continually upgrade their programs. And all their teachers are fully certified Montessori teachers! By the end of the first week my son stopped crying after I dropped him off. Which is crazy! The last Montessori Daycare we enrolled him in he still cried months after dropping him off, all the way to the very end when we moved. They also assisted with potty training him. I've noticed a huge difference since my kids have been coming here. My kids clean up after themselves now. The other day my son spilt his drink and said, "I need to clean," and then goes into the kitchen to get a rag to wipe up his mess. My daughter is constantly now saying, "I'll do it myself," and then attempts to do it herself. That's what AMS does, they breed little leaders that want to learn and aren't afraid to tackle challenges. Another thing that I love about this place is the way that they encourage kids to resolve conflict. My kids use to fight all the time and now they are like best buds. My son will say to his sister, "will you share with me?" instead just grabbing something out of her hand like he use to. I seriously am so thankful for what AMS has done for my family. read more

I am writing this review almost 3 years late since my son attended last, however, I am very happy with his development since he attended Angels Montessori. He attended Angels Montessori for almost 2 years ever since he was 3. He is now 7 years old and in second grade with academic skills that surprise us every day. When he first started attending Angels, it took a few months to adjust to the environment, but once he did, his focus and academic stamina improved and that has carried that with him ever since he left. Our second child is now 3 and unfortunately we have moved too far for him to attend Angels, however we are looking for Montessori schools with similar practices to Angels. read more

I like Angels Montessori so much!!! It is one of the best Montessori schools in that area. My son stayed in this school for two years and I had to send him to a new school due to our relocation. My son's progress at this school was tremendous! He is now 5.5 year old and can read chapter books and do multiplication. Ms Angle teaches kids to their best potential. I am so grateful of all the hard work of the teachers. Ms. Maryam loves kids so much! I am very sad that we have to change school for my son. I love this school & the teachers. My son hasn't gone to AMS long but he changed immediately for the positive. His listening skills are better, He's following rules better. I didn't know how he we would behave w the stricter rules & the uniforms but he handled it like a champ. He's learned more at AMS in the little time he's been there than at his previous preschool. We liked so much about this school, but cannot recommend it. The teachers are very engaged, and both of our kids who attended it love learning. The person who runs the school, unfortunately, is extremely unaccommodating and rude. An example is that I travel twice every year. My daughter attended three days, and I asked if twice a year we could have her go for a Friday instead of one of the other three days that week. My request was NEVER approved. Additionally, they charge even returning families an application or registration fee for no reason (there are no additional administrative duties in rolling over a student because they don't even ask for new shot records). Field trips you are overcharged on what the actual place charges, and you have to pay for the use of a graduation gown every year. They will fight over every.single.dollar. It got to where I just could not communicate with the school director, and asked her to talk to my partner about any issues. On balance, we decided it was worth enduring her to have our kids in this learning environment. I just don't get why she has to be so insanely unfriendly, uncompromising, and mean! read more
