We have had both of our sons attend and graduate from Woodrose Preschool over the past six years, and we have nothing but wonderful things to say about the school, its curriculum, and, most importantly, its teachers and staff - specifically Ms. Yoli, Ms. Esperanza, Ms. Marci, Ms Claudia.... (really all of them!) They genuinely care about each child and take the time to get to know them as individuals, allowing them to nurture and teach each child in a way that best supports their unique needs. The love they show the children is evident in the strong bonds they build. Our boys were so attached to their teachers that saying goodbye at graduation was incredibly emotional, which speaks volumes about the care, kindness, and dedication they experienced every day.My husband and I can't recommend the preschool enough! read more

Our experience with Wood Rose has been nothing short of wonderful. Both of our children attend the school and we have nothing but gratitude for the entire staff. They have always been respectful, kind, responsive, and, above all, incredibly caring. Academically, our experience has also been very positive and the Spanish-English program was a must for us. But what stands out the most is the warmth and kindness with which our whole family has always been treated. We love Wood Rose academy and our child is enjoying being there. The teachers and staff are kind and care deeply for the students and the community . The class size is small allowing for focused attention for the students. In addition, there are no SCREENS! We love our Wood Rose community! The teachers are so caring and loving toward our children and they have loved going to school from day one. We started our son at 2-1/2 as we were late to find out about WRAP and he will now be entering into the Academy Kindergarten next year. Our daughter started at 18 months and continues to thrive. The teachers have continued to work with us as we face certain behavior challenges and are supportive along the journey. ZERO STARS: PLEASE do NOT send your child to this preschool! Completely unstructured, disorganized and children are NOT emotionally supported. Lots of teacher turnover....my son had 3 different teachers in 4 months which was extremely tough for him. Kids need adult connection to emotionally regulate and with so many changes he was unhappy and angry. The director is a NIGHTMARE; immature, horrible communication, rude and defensive. It's astonishing that she is involved in early childhood development/education...she's clueless. She blamed my sons emotional struggles on our FAMILY, even labeling him as violent and abusive and when my husband respectfully told her she was out of line, she kicked us out. We transferred my son to a wonderful school, Little Flowers Montessori (Walnut Creek), and the changes were IMMEDIATE. No hitting, yelling, tantrums anymore. My son THRIVED in a supportive, respectful environment and became HAPPY. I so regret not transferring him earlier and regret even more that I ever sent him to Wood Rose at all. This Preschool is TOP NOTCH! I feel some of the negative reviews are when the previous Director was there. This is my son's 3rd year at Wood Rose and my other son will be starting there later this school year. I cannot rave enough about how much we love this school. The teachers are so caring, so loving, so nurturing. They are all REAL Teacher's (with degrees) and my son is thriving educationally and socially. They provide all the meals (Breakfast, AM snack, Lunch and PM Snack) and the menu is always posted on the board so you can see what your child will be eating for the day. The meals are always nutritious and they take care in preparing them as well as making them fun and exciting and diverse. There are folders with memos, events, artwork etc all to keep you informed. They have special themed nights throughout the year to help the school with fundraising, meet and greets with the Staff and other Parent's! Spaghetti Feeds, Children's Art Night, Grandparent's Day Lunch, Mother's Day Brunch, Father's Day Brunch. This school truly cares about the kids and the Families that attend. Since the switch to Ms. Charina, the new Director...there have been NO Teacher turnovers. With Ms. Lori there were teachers leaving left and right. I think that in itself says something! Ms. Charina has been nothing but open, honest, communicative, loving and truly has a passion for her job and these kids! Any questions I've ever had, I get answered by Ms. Charina immediately. She is on top of it! I feel so confident and safe knowing my child goes here! You know you're in the right place when your kid BEGS you to go to school on the weekends! I mean that says it all! He absoutley loves Wood Rose and we couldn't be happier. Give Wood Rose a chance. We toured 6 Preschools, this is the last one we toured and we are so glad we did. They have 5 full classrooms. 2 play yards (small and large). Huge sandbox, 3 bathrooms, their own kitchen and cook! It's CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN! Love this place! read more

I respect the opinions of all the people that posted their comments on Yelp. I'm writing this review to share our personal experience at Wood Rose Academy Preschool. Our family has been part of the Wood Rose Academy Preschool community and we have been there long enough to know the disparity between the old and new administration. We believe that the change in administration is a good change. Ms. Charina has made significant changes in a short period of time. Children will behave like children and at times some children will sometimes play rough. And in those instances, I always see teachers intervene and address issues in a positive and professional manner. Apart from that, they also inform parents about the incident and note what has been done to address the issue, They accept children for being unique individuals and they care and support families if they need help. I do random visits to check on my son. At times I would drop by unannounced to pick up my son early. Based on my observation, they are treating their students/staff well. I'm glad that a parent mentioned two things: improvement in communication and the recent art exhibit. Wood Rose Academy Preschool after school activities encourages camaraderie and fosters a sense of community. I think this is what sets them apart from other schools. I really do not see anything wrong with teachers occasionally grouping together. We attend all the Wood Rose Academy events and it has always been a pleasant and good experience. I have taken all the comments into heart including the negative ones. Like any concerned parent, I asked my son if he witnessed teachers yelling at each other. He said he never saw it happen. My son is an inquisitive and observant boy and if it really happened he will surely tell. Our boy loves all his teachers in Wood Rose. I believe that all the Wood Rose Academy Preschool teachers are qualified, competent, knowledgeable and caring, I'm sure the school has anticipated the changes in staffing and will address these changes accordingly. I notice that majority of the recent negative comments is about the transition Wood Rose is going through. As for us, we remain firm in our decision to keep our son in Wood Rose and to support the positive change. My son's improvement academically and socially is a living testament of how good the school is. I hope parents who are interested in sending their children to Wood Rose would give the school a second look and not miss out on the great experience that we have enjoyed for years. read more

This is the best preschool in concord! We've toured a lot of preschools and my son attended a few of them but this is hands down the BEST! The teachers are loving, nurturing and are happy. The director, Ms Charina is very approachable and friendly and so are all the teachers. My two sons love going there, sometimes they don't wanna go home because they enjoy playing with their friends. The place is clean and feels more like home. They serve delicious meals (breakfast and lunch and 2 snacks). I would definitely recommend this school to my friends and families. read more

My husband and I toured several preschools in the Walnut Creek/Concord area and fell in love with Wood Rose Academy Preschool. They provide a clean,loving, caring environment. The teachers are wonderful always keeping the little ones active and learning. The school provides breakfast, lunch, snacks providing part-time or full-time and are super flexible. I'm thrilled I found Wood Rose for my 2 year old daughter. All of the teachers treat her like their own child. The small setting makes the care more intimate. Her teacher writes in a daily journal, which is so much more personal than a fill-in-the-blank form. Preschool hours are filled with art, music, dance, age appropriate lessons, outdoor activities and enough free play and socialization that my daughter still gets to be a kid. Her vocal language and social interaction since starting two months ago is incredible. She could barely form complete words, now she's talking in short sentences. This school and its staff has been a blessing. Sometimes the morning separation is hard for my daughter, but I take comfort in seeing Miss Kristy holding her and by the time I drive out of the parking lot, I can see my daughter playing through the window. Wood Rose Academy preschool is a GEM! We started our 3 year old in August 2014 as we were seeking a more structured, learning center for our daughter. We could not be happier with the teachers and academic curriculum carefully structured for each age group. This isn't just a school but truly a home away from home for my child. We are full time working parents and we visited several schools before coming upon Wood Rose. Ms. Charina and her teachers are very nurturing, caring and loving towards the children. It's easy to see how much they care for each child. Like any parent, we are very careful and protective of those around our daughter. I can wholeheartedly say when she is at Wood Rose, we are completely at ease and have great peace of mind knowing she is not only receiving excellent early education but also being well cared for while her dad I and are at work. Our youngest daughter will turn 2 in summer of 2015 and we look forward to her joining her big sister at Wood Rose. Because my two older children go to the Academy next door, this was my first choice for preschool for my third child. I attended the Open House and liked my conversation with the teachers. It has been 8 months, and I've seen my shy, two year old blossom. The director and staff are very accommodating: they listen, they advise and any decision concerning my child is a mutual one. They recognize the individuality of EACH child, and there is a lot of love and support in this environment....plus they provide lunch as part of the fees! We adore Wood Rose! We chose this school because of the amazing teachers - some of whom had taught my girls at a previous preschool. Matter of fact, I sought out this school because of these teachers! I couldn't be more grateful to have them in our lives. I am a full-time working mom and it is hard to know that someone else has to help me raise my girls. However, I know that I leave them every day in a warm nurturing environment with teachers who truly have their best interests at heart. They are loving yet balanced with the right level of structure and positive discipline. Under their guidance, my daughters have truly blossomed and I know without a doubt that they will be well prepared for kindergarten - in an academic sense as well as with strong social skills. As a parent, I appreciate that they have always made themselves available to answer any questions or even if I just want to chat about how my children are doing. One of my daughters has restrictive dietary needs. The staff has not only willingly worked with me to make sure her meals and snacks are good for her, but several of them have also researched her condition so they could be better informed. I am a very happy parent and there is nothing more reassuring to know that my girls are also happy and love going to school every day. I highly recommend Wood Rose Preschool! read more
