We came to interview at Montessori School of Concord. I remember waiting inside of the classroom for the interview with Miss Delmy, a young girl went up to me and asked me if I would like a bottle of water. I was blown away by the interaction from the girl. I knew right there that I wanted my son to attend this school. When my son started at Montessori School of Concord, his first teach was Miss B. She was a great teacher for the toddler class. My son took a while to adjust. He was shy and always cried before going to school. But after 3 months, he finally got over his fear. During his first year he got promoted to Miss Melissa's class. He flourished in reading and writing. The patience Miss Melissa has for her students is amazing. I would not have any other person help guide my 3 year old son at the time. Once my son got promoted Miss Delmy's class, I really saw him add and subtract in math. As a 4 year old, he would read books and enjoy reading on their own. I cannot express how much Miss Delmy and her staff really cared for each student. Miss Delmy can command the classroom and have fun with them too. Unfortunately I had to pull my son out of Montessori School of Concord because we moved to Alameda. I would of loved to keep him there but the commute was too long. It was hard to see him leave behind the BEST group of educators that truly embraced the Montessori way! I wish we could of still lived closer so my son could of graduated from the school and learned from the best. This really set our older daughter to be advanced when she moved on to public school. Our younger one is a bit more of a handful but is also excelling in this environment and learning program. It's a huge bonus having the farm aspect where they learn to garden, feed animals, and get a more balanced indoor/outdoor learning experience. It's clear the staff are passionate about what they do, and we've truly felt like part of the Springfield family. I have a degree in Early Childhood Development and toured many local preschools before choosing Springfield. In my opinion, it is one of the top preschools in the area. We had a great experience with the teachers and really appreciated the safety focus they had for the kids. Though we didnt get to benefit from it, I really like the association with the Choice in Aging senior services next door and could see that being a real plus for everyone in the future when things calm down. They have moved the preschool to a different area of the site temporarily to prepare for a multiphase construction and it looks really nice. The site will benefit from wholesale renovation as it is aged. I went 4 stars because of things independent of the care of the kids, basically the administrative aspects (pricing, planning, communication, etc) were frustrating. I would not hesitate to send my child there again but be prepared to have some frustrating moments.

The teachers are caring and invested. The Montessori curriculum gives the child ownership and responsibility for their own learning with guidance from the teachers, while allowing room for playful curiosity. The school also places a focus on social responsibility, so my child isn't just getting an academic education but a social education as well: learning personal responsibility, learning to interact with mixed age groups, to problem-solve through conflict resolution, and to contribute through acts of kindness at school and at home. The school is delightfully "dumb" in that devices and online learning are not a part of the lower grade levels. The kids are taught cursive and write out most of their works. Homework is not introduced until the third grade level. And I love that kids have the option to work in the way that suits them best, whether that's on the floor, sitting at a desk, or standing at a table. They can work with a friend, or work alone in the quiet room to aid focus. The school understands that every kid's learning process is a little different and helps set the kids up for success. We feel so fortunate to have found this school that is so caring and inclusive of families of all races, ethnicities, gender identity, family structure, and/or socioeconomic status. In addition to feeling like the right learning environment for our child, we are so grateful to have found this community and be welcomed into it. We will be so sorry to leave after 6th grade!

It really feels like being part of a big family. The school just celebrated their 50th anniversary - they have been around so long that my husband went to the school when he was a kid! The Site Director did not come out to greet me or speak with me in person. Instead, she only stuck her head out from inside and told me that I was late, the next family was arriving, and that I needed to come back another day. What confused me even more was that she said the tour was only 15 minutes, even though my confirmation email clearly stated that the scheduled tour would last 30 minutes (10:00-10:30 AM). I explained that I only have one day off from work and asked if I could at least spend a few minutes seeing the school since there was still time remaining in my scheduled appointment. Unfortunately, there was no apology, no empathy, and no willingness to accommodate even a brief visit. I respect the school's schedule, and I understand that arriving late has consequences. However, first impressions matter. As a parent looking for a preschool, I expected to be treated with courtesy and respect, even if I made a mistake. A little kindness and professionalism would have made a big difference. Because of this experience, I decided not to consider this school for my child.

The early morning staff are equally warm and welcoming. They always seem so genuinely excited to see the kids arrive each day. Anna, the assistant director who has been there for years and years, is also exceptional. She is friendly, approachable, and extremely responsive. Her communication skills are top-notch, which is enormously important when your child is in the care of others. She provides real peace of mind that everything is being overseen with care and attention. The front desk team is also kind and helpful, making daily interactions smooth and positive. And may I add they provide nutritious snacks and hot lunch at no extra charge! That is a priceless gift to any busy working parent. This alone makes their rates extremely reasonable for the area. We were especially fortunate to have Ms. Celi as our son's teacher. She updated the parent app every day with incredible detail about the children's activities, curriculum, and plenty of photos. The meals are also great. My son is open to eating a variety of food as a result of the meals serve at the school. In terms of academics, my almost 4 year old can count to 40, knows the ABCs and write his name. All in all, LGA makes life easy for parents, especially working parents. From day one, Tara worked closely with us in developing our daughter's physical, emotional and communicative skillsets. Her homecare is so much better than a corporate daycare- same primary caregiver (vs shifts) and small teacher to student ratio (vs many to one). I also believe it was better than us getting a nanny. It gave ourselves space while we knew she was safe, sound and growing happily at Tara's. She also worked tirelessly with us when our baby was going through eczema and allergy issues. Our daughter often times says Ms Tara when we put her in the stroller (that is how we walk her to daycare). Tara has helped us raise her to be a polite, sweet little girl- teaching her all the crucial skills needed to lay a strong foundation. Because of Tara, she was ready for preschool right at 2 years old.

We have loved our experience working with Tara to help raise our girls. Tara maintains an organized, well-run daycare that focuses on giving kids plenty of time to play outside while maintaining a predictable flow to the day. She communicates well, and has a solid contract prior to starting daycare that allows you to focus on what works best for addressing your child's day to day needs. Pure & Simple has a great ratio of kids to care provider (Tara), and kids usually consistently attend for long periods of time, although she can also take kids for short periods of time if needed. (My daughter has had the same daycare best friend for the entire time she has been there.) Tara also works to ensure that kids are not coming to daycare sick, which means that I can count the number of times that I have had to miss work due to a daycare-derived illness on one hand. The timing of golden step is great for morning commute. Nana makes delicious food for kids too and she didn't charge extra for that. We are really grateful to have her in our kids' lives!

Since our son started at Step by Step Montessori we have seen him develop a stronger sense of self confidence and curiosity in learning new things. He's 2.5 years old and only after a few months he was counting far more than he ever did at home, asking inquisitive questions, singing new songs, and demonstrating longer periods of independent play 'building things.' He comes home from school excited to share stories about the activities he participated in with his teachers and friends. It's really nice to see him come home and share details about the different projects he did as well as bring us fun arts and crafts! Like earlier this week he gave me a map of the world and all the continents. Last week, we made me Mother's Day gifts and spoke about the chicks that recently hatched in their classroom. It is common for children ( especially during covid times ) to feel a sense of separation anxiety when starting at a new school or going back to school. Fortunately for us, we could rely on all the teachers at SBSM, especially Miss Carolyn, Miss Jaleh, Miss Rachel, Miss Liz, and Miss Marzi to help him feel comfortable, secure, happy, and above all safe! SBSM has teachers that have been working with the school for over a decade, and the newer teachers come with years of experience. It's nice to see how well all the SBSM teachers have always communicated with us about our child's needs, as well as keep us in the loop about anything related to our child. As I've met and spoke with many parents whose children also attend SBSM, it's a common theme: ' We are SO thankful for SBSM, the lovely teachers here, and to be able to be part of this school. ' Most importantly, this is a family run business and the owners of SBSM truly care about using the safest, highest quality, environmentally sustainable equipment both outside in the playground and inside in the classrooms. Cleanliness and safety of our littles is above all and you can really notice this with the first tour! First I would like to say "Thank You" to the teachers at Step By Step Montessori School for taking wonderful care of our children for the last three years. I would like to acknowledge all the hard work and preparation the teachers do daily, not to mention the patience they display with each child. I am impressed with the positive way they are able to channel the children's energy to guide them to learn skills preparing them for kindergarten and more! I've had two kids through the step by step montessori program and we really loved the experience. Both kids really thrived and far advanced their peers when entering Elementary school. Ms. Rachel did an awesome job with the curriculum and the whole staff was great at making the school a fun and exciting place to be. They have really adjusted their safety procedures to make sure that the staff and kids are as safe as possible during the covid pandemic. Our son absolutely loves this school. There are days he cries when it's time to go home. We have seen a major improvement in his problem solving and communication skills ever since he started attending this school about a year ago. I was blown away by the interaction from the girl. I knew right there that I wanted my son to attend this school. When my son started at Montessori School of Concord, his first teach was Miss B. She was a great teacher for the toddler class. My son took a while to adjust. He was shy and always cried before going to school. But after 3 months, he finally got over his fear. During his first year he got promoted to Miss Melissa's class. He flourished in reading and writing. The patience Miss Melissa has for her students is amazing. I would not have any other person help guide my 3 year old son at the time. Once my son got promoted Miss Delmy's class, I really saw him add and subtract in math. As a 4 year old, he would read books and enjoy reading on their own. I cannot express how much Miss Delmy and her staff really cared for each student. Miss Delmy can command the classroom and have fun with them too. Unfortunately I had to pull my son out of Montessori School of Concord because we moved to Alameda. I would of loved to keep him there but the commute was too long. It was hard to see him leave behind the BEST group of educators that truly embraced the Montessori way! The experience left our family feeling uncomfortable with how we were treated and questioning how families are selected from the waitlist.
