He was very professional, his price was reasonable, he returned my call immediately and he wanted to tackle the project, while some of the other local companies did not. I will only call Heartwood West for our tree service needs (he's working on another of our trees this week.) Tom's experience and knowledge as an Arborist speaks for itself - give him a call!

I was around 26 years old at this time, in excellent working shape, and I also just so happen to be a woman. After I sent Tom my resume, he called me and said "Your resume is impressive and I'd like to hire you, but I've got a couple of young kids, do you do childcare also?". I nicely and simply responded "No, I don't do childcare." The conversation moved on, and Tom said that he would be in touch if he needed another employee, even on a temporary basis, that summer. He never reached out to me again. This is one of the biggest slaps in my face I have ever received. Tom would have NEVER asked a male veteran with my same experience to care for his kids, and it shows incredible ignorance and internalized misogyny on his part. To think that someone with my qualifications would want to be his babysitter...? What a joke. This guy is a bigot who discriminates in his hiring. There are many companies in Durango, use a different one.
