I tip service people very generously, bring them gifts, offer them free legal advice (no joke), the list goes on. But I call out heinous service when I experience it as well. The B&N in Exton, PA's customer service is *so* gut-wrenching that I stopped going and now check my books out of the LIBRARY instead. The best service you get there is at their quasi-Starbucks: the women and man who work there treat you like *you* owe *them;* they tell each other private jokes as they ring you up (you are inconveniencing them, don't forget), they demonstrate their anger if you don't tip them for a $7 coffee.... Most heinous to experience here is the employee Rashaan. If he rings you up for books you are paying your hard-earned $ for, he lets you know that he has rage that you are in his line. He doesn't ask "are you a B&N member?" (I am.) He doesn't give you Member discounts. He doesn't speak--just gives you a rage-filled cold, silent stare. Forget "hello" or "thank you." What's more, he stands, on his break, in the afore-mentioned Starbucks area, screaming complaints about customers. He swears during these episodes as well. I've heard him yelling about "She was so f'n dumb! She asked me where the readers were. They were right f'n there in front of her!" I was so upset, I left, but watched him complain animatedly for an entire 20 minutes. That's your dedication to customer service, B&N. Never will you get my money again. Toodles.

I walked out with a couple great books to add to my collection, and will be back soon to pick up some more! My favorite thing about this store is that they offer hard to find books for a great price. They have an extensive Pennsylvania section which includes biographies about many of of the small colleges dotting the southeast part of the state, and a large amount of genealogical books as well. I was strapped for time and didn't get a chance to explore the entire store, but the sections I perused left me with a great feeling about the place. The lady who helped me check out was extremely friendly as well. Have already recommended this store to a couple friends and family, and I will personally be making the trip back out as soon as next week. Highly recommend!

The owners of THIS store have been in the book business for a while. Both put in years at a large chain bookstore. They've used that experience to create a store people WANT to shop. They are extremely knowledgeable on many topics, and very friendly. The store, like many used bookstores, is a work in progress. The difference is the people, and the staff are amazing!

Inside there are a few pastries for sale and a few books for sale of varying genres. I can't speak for the food, as we didn't purchase any, but the owners are so nice and personable. We chatted about favorite books and despite only being here for 11 months, I hope they become a dub-c staple. The owners are a couple, one who went to school for culinary and the other for poetry. Truly a story from a Hallmark movie! Supporting independent bookstores and small POC-owned businesses is a priority for me, and I'm happy to welcome this location to the area. Their book collection is small, but the owner seems to have read most of them or can still give pointers. Still a wide variety of genres for sale, from children's books to horror to Japanese poetry.
