Emily comes across as knowledgeable about her work, but in our experience, was poor with follow-up and process. We had to follow-up with her multiple times with friendly reminders that required anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks for her to reply. We ended our relationship with Home on Cameron after the design phase. When we did, she deflected our dissatisfaction with her work by saying it's okay that we don't have the budget for her. Which, is just an unnecessary passive-aggressive way to respond to criticism. Especially when we ended up paying $5k for what amounted to some floor plan sketches, which we paid without dispute and on-time. Anyways, we ended up getting another designer that has been great with follow-up and set up a clear project plan with timelines and ways to communicate our needs proactively on both sides. Would not recommend for future projects and I can provide the other designer that knows a ton about rowhouses and is great to work with.

He told us he'd have the plans written up by the following Monday. That was 5/6. We finally got the plans on the 5/17. They said they were booked out and the soonest we could schedule the install would be the end of July, that seemed like a really long time and we had to push back our floor install and painting so we wouldn't be too log without a kitchen. The first day of the install they sent out a crew of 4, they did a good job and moved quickly, so quickly in fact that the crew manager who dropped them Off and left half way through was late coming back to pick them up so they had to hang out on our front stoop for about an hour. The second day crew was 2 guys, they lost the door knobs to a cabinet and never replaced the so we have to now go back to Ikea and purchase 2 more knobs. They also told my husband they would put an elbow in vent above the stove to ensure it vented properly to the microwave, he agreed to pay an extra $40 for them to do that when they came back after the counters were installed. The third crew came back after the counters and immediately started arguing what they would and wouldn't reinstall, they called to say we never asked for the reinstall (which we had with Milos and the 2nd crew lead) a gentleman from Zee Dee called and to let me know they wouldn't be setting up our appliances and got annoyed with me when I started asking questions he started snapping at me and pushing me off the phone. I asked for his name and he hung up on me. When I called back or went straight to voicemail. His cell phone is (571) 332-1160. The 3rd install took 2 days after the 2nd day my husband called to say the tore the brand new vinyl flooring when they put in the stove, scratched the brand new sink faucet when installing, did not install the elbow for the joint and used about a roll of tape to attach it, it looks horrible! No one checked in with us after the job, I emailed Milos and still have no response, I emailed the general email account with no response so I am now posting on review sites hoping to get a call back, email whatever to get these things fixed! My fiancee and I found Denise online and liked the look of her work. The prices were a bit weird, but we really needed help with our place, so we hired her. The GOOD: She came out a few times and measured our place to create a "space plan" that basically allows you to see what size furniture will fit in the space. This was very very helpful and she did it very quickly. She also found furniture on web sites we said we liked that she thought would work in the room. We didn't have ANY furniture to start with, so we needed a lot of suggestions and she came up with several options. She also found a couch at a VA store that we ended up liking enough to buy. It was a great help and a good deal. The painter she uses is great. He did a great job, even though he charged us $1,300 to paint three small rooms. The BAD: She charged us $2,500 flat fee to do the following: - Create the space plan - Surf the web and go to her favorite store (the one in VA) to look for furniture that would fit in the plan - Pick the paint colors for three rooms and order the paint - Measure the windows for window treatments This was WAY TOO MUCH in my opinion, considering the amount of work this ended up being. She basically met with us twice and we did the rest of the communication through email or through her assistant, Sarah. Denise acted a lot like talking to us through email was a bit of a pain for her, because we had a lot of questions. She always wrote back, though, I've got to give her that. The real problem was she wanted us to use her vendors for the window treatments, but I found out that they were charging us DOUBLE what I could get from J.C. Penneys. So I ordered the treatments myself and had them installed independently of Denise. It would have been a real ripoff to use her people. Also, the paint color she talked me into choosing for the bathroom I ended up hating. We had to pay to have the painter come back and repaint the room back to white, but Denise didn't really apologize for this at all. She made it seem like she was doing us a huge favor by getting the guy to come back and repaint. Plus, we had to pay him another $350. In the end, I'm glad we hired her because it helped give me piece of mind that everything we ended up buying would fit in the places we wanted them to fit. I also have been happy with the two wall colors I did like that she helped us pick out. But since we hired her and the job was done, we never heard from her again, except in a brief email about the repainting, her assistant said it was "great to work with us." If you want to be recommended to my friends, you'd better send me a nice note or call to make sure I'm happy with everything before you sever our relationship.

In fact I've only seen you once and this is the second time you're communicating with me. I've been dealing with your assistants. My complaint is simply this.... there was a lack of professionalism. Had you told me what your office is going through I would have waited until a later time to do business with you, but I was pushed to the site and no one would follow up with me...I had to constantly contact you and your assistant to find out what the delay is. Again, I DID NOT HAVE A DEADLINE. I just wanted to know where I stand...and since I was being ignored, I became more demanding of details. I don't agree with your comment that I didn't have a grasp of how the process works, I simply went by what you and your assistants told me. Please don't try to make me out to be the bad person. Like you said, you shouldn't have taken on extra clients knowing what your office has to deal with during the busy schedule and moving process. During the installation, one flood the guys was drunk and broke 2 of my windows and slid off the roof. The project manager, Nate Welch, refused to come and inspect the damages- saying that the roofers would fix it as they went along. ARS left the roof and shingles off the plywood for 3 days, allowing animals and squirrels to climb into my attic. Nate, the project manager, came out and saw the problem, but ARS refused to remove the squirrels. I had to hire a separate company to address the squirrels. Meanwhile ARS contractor came back unannounced and installed the shingles on the roof while I was at work. Rushing through the installation. About 2 months after the installation the ceiling in my garage began to leak. I called Nate and he came to my house, but refuse to go on the roof to look at the problems. Instead, he stood in the driveway, afar off from the roof, and claimed he couldn't see anything wrong. Claiming that he didn't have a ladder. The garage continued to leak, then the windows, then the upstairs, etc. Nate and ARS refused to fix any of it. After threatening Nate, he sent someone to my house to install the windows. He hired the man in the parking lot of a hardware store. The man brought his family to my house to fix the windows, and left when I refused to let his family come into my house. Finally i found the contact information for Nates boss, Shaun, and contacted him. Shaun does not know or repair roofs. He sent Nate back. Nate instructed the contractors not to make the repairs, trying to have warranty expire on the original work. I forced the contractor to take pictures of the damages he saw. But nothing to date has been fixed. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They will not make repairs, hire reputable peohonor their warranty- especially if Nate Welch is your Project Manager.

I really like the crew that did the work. They were courteous, conscientious about their work, cleaned up after themselves and went the distance to make sure the job was well done. The manager that provided the estimate, Nathaniel, made sure I was informed was satisfied with the work being performed. He kept in contact via phone and emails. Indeed, I was so satisfied with their performance that I am hiring them again to do some additional work on the house... can't get a better recommendation than that.
