The shop itself is small which means although we were the only clients in the shop behind the curtain. There was no where for my friend to get changed. It was standing in your pants in front of me and the lovely assistant. Most people would be fine about that, but I felt it was a little unnecessary and should have been factored in to the shop design. Which is why they have lost a star. However plenty of good points. First off, service was brilliant. We were the only clients and we had the assistants full attention. There was a nice selection of dresses at reasonable prices. If you are after spending the equivalent of a small car on a dress this is not the shop for you. Everything was under £1500. Most were around the £700 area. They also had a brilliant selection of off the peg dresses, if you are an average size, that you could take away that day. They were understanding that my friend would want to show other people the selection of dresses that she liked, so they let her take pictures. So many shops don't allow that which is beyond stupid. They also didn't make her stand on a box, I had to go through that when I got married, just wear heels. They have a seamstress who is available for consultation at the shop. You do have to pay her separately, but seeing her in the same place is a great help. My friend really enjoyed the experience and felt at ease in the store (apart from the lack of changing room) she will be returning for a second try on with me and her mum in the next few weeks.

Even the ones I thought would definitely not suit me, they said 'try it on, just so you can rule it out'. It was a brilliant experience and since then, I have recommended the shop to many of my friends. They even let us take photos so I could remember which ones I liked - unlike so many of the snooty, stuck-up shops who think you want to rob their designs, rather than to help you make your decision. The staff were young, friendly, fun and went out of their way to be helpful and make it an enjoyable experience - usually I hate clothes shopping, so they had their work cut out! They opened later for me to be able to have a bridesmaid fitting and as four of my bridesmaids were overseas, they ordered the dresses early enough for me to send them on so they could get them altered to fit perfectly. It is run by appointment only so that you get all the attention you need. I went for an evening appointment to try on wedding dresses on a saturday, our appointment was at 5.30pm and she had no-one after us. Normally she will give 1 hour 30 mins for an appointment. However we were there until 8pm she was happy to stay until we had finished. I didn't buy my dress here in the end but I did go back for the bridesmaid dresses and the suit hire for the men. All dresses and suits are a brilliantly reasonable price. Although I attended regular 'fittings' (none of the outfits you choose to be tailored are in the store after you purchase them, as the business claims they are in India being adjusted), so measurements were taken. My shape and size changed over the months due to pregnancy, and despite my concerns and suggestions, the manager was dismissive and patronising, each time telling me 'don't worry, trust me' and to believe that the outfit would fit. 10 days before my wedding, I received a call from the manager confirming my worst fears that the outfit not only did not fit, but was 8-10inches too small at the waist. I was flabbergasted, as it seemed the regular measurements were a waste of time, and I felt I had been deceived/ cheated. As you can imagine so close to my wedding, I was devastated and stressed, as I had to find another outfit in such a short space of time. This is the worst experience any bride could imagine and to avoid this experience, go elsewhere - Mongas is fantastic.
