Egan helped detach a camera lens cap from a filter on an old camera I inherited. He determined a piece was missing that was keeping the cap and the filter from attaching correctly. This is really a service store and not so much where you can pop in and buy equipment or supplies. However I called today and asked if they had a specific lens for my Canon and they did not. However the owner, Egan, said he could call his warehouse and see if they had it in stock. They did and he gave me a very competitive price on it. Very personable and very dedicated to making sure the customer gets what they need. With so few photo places left, he works for himself and loves it. We recently took about 20 very old, very special family photos to Annandale Photo & Camera to be restored. Egan, the owner, was wonderful. He explained that only 2 really needed to be restored, that he would be able to produce copies of the others that would improve the images. We couldn't have been more pleased with his work. The prices are reasonable, he finished the job very quickly, and the photos are beautiful. You need someone you can trust with your special memories, and this is the place to go. The other reviews are spot on. The store isn't fancy, but the customer service feels like his long lost relative just walked in, and the results are great and reasonably priced. Egan restored some badly faded 30+ year old color photos for me and then did new laser color prints which were much much better than I had expected given the original condition of the photos. Then he converted to black and white and the printed results were splendid. Egan also still develops color C41 and black and white film and can scan and print from any format or medium including old negatives, old photos and slides. Once upon a time I was professionally involved in the photography business, and sadly, there are very few shops still around like this. Egan and his shop are keepers. read more

Egan owns Annandale Photo & Camera. He does passport photos and most of the services FedEx Kinkos, etc. offers, but the quality of service and equipment he uses is better. His pricing is reasonable and he is open late. If you need him to keep the shop open longer so you can get something in a hurry, he'll stay open for you. If you need passport photos, DO NOT go to CVS or any of the other types of stores who offer these services. The employees often do not know the passport photo requirements (proximity, white background only, size of photo, etc.) and you'll have to go to a professional photo shop anyways, like Egan's. Save your $ and go to a professional the first time. read more

We brought old black and white, faded photos here to be digitized and enlarged. We were so pleased with the work, we entrusted a large family group portrait to the owner, Egan, to produce a better image. I would never have sent this family antique in the mail to anyone, and getting to know Egan made me feel it would be safe. He did a great job of enhancing the image, and now I can clearly see my grandparents' features and details of their children at a young age. His prices are not bargain basement, but they are reasonable for pieces that deserve personal attention. I have brought dozens more of these old photos for him to enhance and make copies. Egan greets us as old friends, appreciates any work we bring in. This small shop is the kind of endangered place that provides personal service, unlike the big box or faceless mail order services. I needed a battery for a new camera. He opened a new one which took him 15 minutes-i asked if it was charged-he didn't know. It got stuck in my camera-he told me the camera was gray market because it was made in Thailand and that's why the battery didn't work. I went to Photocraft in Burke-they are awesome! Battery worked great-not gray market-many Nikons are made there. If anything-his battery was gray market. Just hope he didn't damage my camera using tools to get the stuck battery out. Totally incompetent. read more
