So happy with our newborn photos by Chieu Lee Photography! We received so many compliments from friends and family on the pictures. The poses are adorable and Chieu intermixed close-up shots with wide zoom images that captured loving details, like our son's crib and gallery wall, to add variety and interest. Chieu really has an amazing artistic eye and a creative mind. I did a photo shoot with her one afternoon and I was seriously amazed by the results. She took this untrained mess (me) and made me look like a model! She styled me with clothes, accessories, and even did my hair and make up to get the perfect look. Chieu was fantastic to work with. The entire time she guided me: telling me how to place my arms or where to point my chin and where to place my eyes so that she could get the perfect shot. Side note: pointing your chin and eyes in different directions is apparently a very difficult concept for me but Chieu was patient with me the whole time. Although the position felt a little awkward for me, after looking at the final photographs I realized how much better they looked because of those stances. I would never have known if Chieu had not corrected my positioning to the millimeter! But, that just demonstrates her perfectionism as an artist. During the photo shoot, she would also adjust my hair or clothes to make them look perfect for the shot. Chieu knows exactly when to find those unique moments that are full of life. You can tell by just looking through her portfolio! I love all of her photographs of babies and children who are probably moving all the time, yet she's still able to capture that perfect moment to encapsulate their personality. I've done two photo shoots w/ Chieu Lee Photography. Both have been excellent. The first was an anniversary shoot w/ my husband. Chieu took us out for a full day of work across downtown DC. She gave us advice before the shoot on what to wear and how to style ourselves so we would look the best for our pictures. During the shoot, she was very helpful in posing and directing us. My husband felt very awkward for a bit, but Chieu helped him relax as we went along. She brought an assistant along, who helped tote the equipment, so we were able to move very nimbly around the city and get some great editorial type shots at a bunch of different locations. Chieu's work is very artistic rather than cheesy or artificial. The photos turned out great -- very creative, with a variety of techniques, lighting, settings, and poses to make each picture feel very fresh. The second shoot I had w/ Chieu Lee Photography was for some headshots for my professional profile/resume. Chieu actually styled me for the shoot -- hair, makeup, clothes, accessories -- and the result was great. She gave me a look that really suited me -- fun and relaxed yet chic and professional. She took me around a variety of backdrops in Fairfax in order to capture different textures and colors to give me multiple headshot options to use for my professional needs. It was important for me to have my headshots done outdoors in an urban setting, so she helped me cope with some tough lighting and weather situations by using some serious skill in posing me facing different directions. We had both our maternity and newborn photos done with Chieu. She was absolutely fantastic and so easy to work with. We were drawn to her based on the different poses and set-ups we saw online. Her pricing for both sessions was fair and the pictures came back beautiful! We did our maternity shoot outside in her backyard and in the park surrounding her house. We did our newborn shoot in her in-home studio.  During the maternity shoot, she made both my husband and me comfortable during the photos (hard to do!) and provided guidance for poses. During the newborn photoshoot, she was equally gifted in working with our newborn twins and we fell in love with the photos she provided. It does not change my 5-star rating for her, but the only disappointment we had was an oversight where we have photos of my husband and me together holding just our newborn son, but not any similar ones of us holding just our daughter.
