The crew needed to be asked to clean under my nightstand, in the sliding door track (which Carmen had pointed out as never being cleaned by my previous housekeeper), next to the coffee table (there was still a ton of my 5yo's blue chalk and a melon seed on the carpet!). Did not clean basement bathroom at all!! (Carmen refunded me $50 to make up for that.) The crew piled stuff on stuff, even the garbage cans on top of clean laundry, shoes on a chair, and misc things on the keyboard (the stuff on the keyboard was hiding a bunch of loose washers, I don't know where those even came from). They piled things on my handmade poster (I had moved it to my desk thinking it'd be safe there). They combined recycling and trash and had to be asked to separate them, and left a mountain of trash and recycling in my kitchen and had to be asked to take them out to the toters. They did not vacuum under coffee table or my kid's dresser. They left things in total disarray, like curtains flung over nearby furniture. Did not neatly put back orchids, pictures, key trays, etc. in place (why don't they just take a reference photo before moving stuff??). They left blinds open and curtains pulled aside where we purposely leave them closed (with the cords tied up for kid's safety, they left them loose). Left the toilet step stool a bit dirty. I heard a lot of things falling; one of those things was probably my remote control for the lights, it had clearly been popped open. I found the battery behind stuff on the floor. Nobody told me it had broken but someone had clearly put it back together again (without its battery)! The upstairs wood floors are sticky-- that usually happens if one uses dirty water on wood, or the wrong cleaning solution. Carmen had told me at the quote that she checks the work after they finish but did not. If Carmen herself were part of the crew I might hire them again. That's a NO.
