Registration process is un-necessarily complex and slow for non-credit lectures and trips. When querying the website for my schedule it displays in different formats every other time. One time you go " here" to find your schedule and the next time you go elsewhere. Then the next time you may find it in a totally different place. Then, you can't find it all. Sometimes when you find your schedule and it opens its empty and totally devoid of info such as start times and location. I've met at least 10 people telling me the same thing. What is the Webmaster doing?? Do they even have a Web person??? TERRIBLE for an institution of higher learning. read more

Education? Great. Everything as far as just being able to attend the school? Horrible. Two months of wasting my time with doing their job for them. They do not make it easy to attend their school and it's not even a university. If you want to attend this school start the process a year in advanced to allow all the lack of information, staff not automatically updating your profile until you chase them, and expectancy of financial aid to be accessible. Yet another terrible experience here. Not only have these people screwed me over out of my financial aid, treated me rudely, shrugged off many times with time required request but today when my aid was suspended YET AGAIN, I expressed I will coming down there to express my issues and talk about filling out another form after I ACED my classes they had a officer call to make sure he could escort me because they didn't like how I responded to their snarky email. I will definitely be getting my transcripts. I'm also calling discrimination , why an officer? Might as well have me in handcuffs walking around the campus. This college get's nothing but 5 stars from me because guess what! My son graduated with honor's. He had no complaints from his professor's or instructor's. It is very affordable rather you get a grant or a loan and they also offer a payment plan. This was a very good way to start off his education. After receiving his associate he will be furthering his education with a University. I definitely recommend giving them a try. TERRRIBLE SCHOOL DO NOT FALL FOR THE LIES. 1 professors don't know what they are teaching took 4 or 5 courses had 1 teacher actually teach material that was on the exams. Had to teach myself everything off of internet and they use other professors lectures then teach u there lecture which isnt useful n leaves you extremely confused. tutors always booked advisors will hang up on u n will never schedule a appts in person i work 3 days aweek as a cna n in school for 3 days they work 1 fucking day aweek and then she worked the day I did aswell so terrible terrible school RN program is high rated cause they gouge your eyes out in stress so by the end of the trama your forced to pass the nclx specially if u work full-time like adults do good luck they rather u quit. Susan Orner was extremely rude when explaining charges I had from 2022 classes. I had thought I dropped the classes in time but did not. I had spoke to someone prior to dropping the classes who said I could drop them just wouldn't be refunded my one payment I made. I wasn't aware until it was sent to collections. I understood I had to pay the rest of the money for the classes since I did not drop out by the deadline even though it still seems a little unfair when it's online courses that I dropped not long after the deadline, but rules are rules. However I was confused why it was sent to collections without me being notified about it ever in over 2 years. they told me they sent letters to my parents address that I haven't lived at in years, when I told her I did not live there she told me a normal person would've changed their address at the post office. My address has been changed for years. All my other mail comes through. Then says they sent emails to my school email which why would I actively log into that especially when it becomes inactive once you don't log in to it for a certain amount of time. then told me they know that I've apparently been logging into the email the whole time for the last few years while not attending the college. I created a new account to get a new email in order to contact them. She also told me she's not sure who would've told me I could just drop the courses and not have to pay anything as if I was lying. I don't know who I spoke to it was over 2 years ago. Then told me "you don't just get to buy plane tickets and get your money back because you didn't board the plane." My issue wasn't paying the bill it was that it was sent to collections without me being notified. Then she told me she hopes I learned my lesson to stay on top of things. Maybe learn to properly contact people if you want your money and don't want confused people contacting you. And jf you're going to be ignorant as soon as someone answers the phone expect them to be ignorant back!! read more

I am a graduate of the Anne Arundel Community College paralegal program and was fortunate enough to have some truly outstanding professors. Many of our adjunct professors brought their real-world experience and I welcomed it. Judge McKenna was really very good for Business Law I. He played a recording of one of his cases in small claims court. The law is about doing the best with what you have. You cannot write the law and pick the facts of your case. Judge Mosely did an outstanding job with Legal Writing and Research I which is a dry and boring topic. Mr. Wilsman did a great job with Business Law II which touches on some very boring subject matter. My friends and I had a blast in Judge Mulford's Criminal Law and Procedure class. I'm not lying when I say, I don't think I ever enjoyed a class so much. Dina Smulow's Legal Writing and Research II class helped me put together everything I learned in the program up to that point. Between that and Dahlnekoff and Merril's Law Office Practice and Technology Class, I was able to make an outstanding PowerPoint presentation with video in one of my own personal court cases. Professor Robin Brown was a great professor. She moderated the career forum very well. She did a great job with the Family Law class. I just don't like Family Law. I wish they had offered an elective in bankruptcy or employment law both of which we touched on in Business Law II. Believe me that's a heck of a lot more interesting than family law. Mr. Talbot did a very fine job with legal ethics. I think it is fair to say that even people who don't mind school just do not like tests. Mr. Talbots timed open-book tests were an outstanding simulation of what a real paralegal could be confronted with and I commend him on it. Prof. O'Rourke's torts class was outstanding. I wish I hadn't taken it online. Prof Erin Gable took the helm of the program. I did not take any classes with Gable, but worked with her through the tutoring program. I am hopeful that Gable will do some great things. Now for the bad stuff. The equipment in the paralegal study room had real problems. I took them weeks to get somebody out to fix it. Kathy Boss was the vice president responsible and she did not do anything about the problems and then complained that I complained about her being inept. If I am going to benefit from homework and it is relevant, I do not have a problem with faculty assigning it. College President Dawn Lindsey whom I'm not all that crazy about puts a lot of pressure on faculty to assign large quantities of homework. Some of which is pointless. If you need an ADA accommodation you will need to go through the Dean of Student Services, not the team who's supposed to be taking care of it. The lead was on maternity leave and the person filling in was part-time and deaf. Her interpreter was never there. That area needs an overhaul. read more

I have nothing but positive things to say about this institution of higher learning. I took some Post-Bacc coursework here and was quite impressed with the quality of professors and the tuition. Additionally, the Truxal Library is a phenomenal place to study and loaded with resources. read more

This school is running a racket, especially when it comes to their certificate programs. The "success coaches" are anything but and disconnected from what they are talking about or involved with. The program directors are a crapshoot. It's pretty silly to charge people thousands of dollars via out of pocket or tuition, to essentially sit in a a class and have someone read from a book, verbatim, instead of training hands on. The cut off for their externships is ridiculous. Making a passing grade 90-95 percent when a national certification in the desired job that you seek, ranges between 70-80 percent just to gain access to an externship in their preferred network of hospitals for free labor and zero chance of hire, is pretty devious and underhanded. One big problem is the school seems to rely too heavy on the online/zoom/canvas aspect of teaching, with misaligned and flawed weighted graded system, and parameters that change week to week. Really don't understand how you can set up a syllabus and module that is tailored for the stay at home pandemic era, when the indoor mandates have been lifted and classes are pretty much in person. You can average a 90-95 in quizzes and progress test, but get docked points for not following the "discussion" or assignment parameters, because you didn't do a "paper on a podcast", for an assignment that you were explicitly told to ignore by your instructor because it was constructed for again, pandemic era stay at home learning. Best example was listening to a teacher tell us how much they hate letting people take exams at home because "students can easily cheat form their text book" and then assign quizzes and exams to take at home. Like, what?? Most of my time spent at this school was under stress for having a failing grade because the teachers "forget" or neglect to upload scores or grades for assignments you turned in weeks earlier, either online or in person, because the instructor or professor simply forgot or "hasn't gotten to it yet" as the weeks and months go by. Also, the success coaches. I'm sorry but if I can hear your chaotic life in the background of a phone call or zoom call as they are explaining to me the "importance of priorities,not letting distractions become excuses, and always being accountable" when they themselves make excuses for missing your calls, not responding back to emails, or cancelling meetings with you because of personal life issues,those same instructors should probably find another job and stop wasting their student-bodies time. read more

Absolutely the coldest and most disorganized institution I have ever dealt with. I have a young adult with multiple disabilities who was not provided with any supports as she transitioned from another 2year College. She did very well at her previous school and has done miserably at AACC. She characterized the students as "unfriendly", the classes as "poorly taught", and the overall feel as "unwelcoming". I have spoken with many staff, faculty and other students who have all had similar experiences of dealing with this "institution of higher learning" which seems more concerned with policy development and "inclusion" WHICH IT DOES NOT-IN FACT- PRACTICE and much less concerned with the provision of a quality educational experience. Ah, my Alma Mater. Does this review make me biased? Nahhhh! I was here back in the late 90s-2000 before moving onto a four year college, and now I'm back taking online courses with them. I enjoyed being able to commute to school while living at home. The courses were (and still are) fantastic, and I actually get excited about the next catalog coming out (this coming from a girl who LOATHED school as a child). I came here for a visit recently. The drive out there is beautiful, especially when you're going the opposite way from the traffic jam. The campus is small but modern. I love the fact that departments showcase their students' works/projects. Some of them have reaped awards from both on- and off-campus. What a great way to show students' achievements. Simple things like this can really boost students' self-esteem. This college does everything to promote you! If you're visiting, you're not limited to visitors' parking, which is usually on the other side of your intended destination. You can park anywhere. (Well, except those odd places where you need a permit.) So, no headaches with getting a temporary pass. Just park and go. There's a beautiful bridge, under a lot of shades, that connects the east and west campuses. Perfect for a little stroll after lunch. All I can is that it's a beautiful campus. Plus, the department faculty that I visited were just absolutely friendly. read more

This is one of the top-rated community colleges in the country. It's still a community college--no dorms or anything. But as far as a 2 year education goes, it's one of the best. Probably better than many of those "liberal arts" colleges out there (I went to a great one, but alot of them are crap). Recommended for anyone who wants a degree, wants to save money, wants to stay in the area, etc. The facilities are great, the staff is helpful. Love my school. I'm getting my doctorate from here! Kidding... but yeah, I've been holding out for that AA for a while. Hey, it's tough when you're paying for it yourself and you work full time! Just one class left! Spreading classes out from '04 til now I've had every type of teacher; from the ones who don't really care and don't even show up sometimes, to awesome intelligent ones, to weird ones. One guy wore his gun holster to class. Uncomfortable much? Parking is pretty good (at all the locations), they have enough so you're not parked a mile away but it does get more crowded during Fall/Spring months. The bookstore is big and always stocked, the campus and buildings are clean. There are many options of when/where/how to take your classes - you can choose from going to the main campus in Arnold, the Arundel Mills building, the Glen Burnie towncenter building, or online courses. I've had them all and have not disappointed. Go to AACC, you won't regret this important life choice. read more

Has a great hill for sledding in the back. My kids loved it wish there was a category just for sledding sites on Yelp but I guess this is the best I can do great fun but it is a bit of a hike back up the hill. but lots of fun as long as the campus police don't block you like they did to us today. I attended this college for two years and it was excellent. The professors at this college are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. There is also a sense of community due to the student projects that are openly displayed, the exciting volleyball games during the day and the large common areas. I have taken classes at top-tier universities and the classes at AACC are just as challenging and demanding as their counterparts at well respected four-year institutions. If you want to save money while receiving an excellent education, I would recommend completing your A.A. or A.S. degree at AACC and then transferring those credits to a four-year institution. The education that you will receive at AACC for level 100 and 200 classes are equivalent to top-tier four-year institutions. Despite everything else, the cafeteria food isn't that bad, either. read more

Anne Arundel Community College, like most things in Maryland, is a perfect example on why one should leave this state as quick as possible. Now before we get into the cons, we'll get into the two pros. Some... Emphasis on SOME . . . Professors are really great and it is cheaper than going to a 4 year college to get your GEN Ed classes. I have been enrolled at AACC for two terms now, and this term will definitely be my last. Administrative advisory is a nightmare since you will receive different information every time you call, and you'll get to deal with a rude individual that wants to get you off the line as quickly as possible. Don't even think about calling 30 minutes before office hours are over because 1 of 2 things will happen... they won't pick up or they'll snap at you and give you bogus information. Don't expect an answer back from anyone who works at any office, and if they do get back to you they will 2 weeks later. Getting back to the professor issue. I was told by my professor that I either withdraw from the class or I will fail. When I asked the professor how she came to this conclusion she quickly brushed me off. Any further attempt of mine at communication via e-mail was ignored. My now-wife took a communication class at AACC and the professor prohibited any debates in her classroom. Her professor stated that if this rule would be broken they would be pulled out of the classroom and get a talking too. In this communication class were foreign students that barley spoke English, it is a communication class held in English, right? The professors was incredibly unorganized and gave lack luster explanations. You'll save money, but loose nerves dealing with this school. read more

This is by far the worst transfer college I have ever been to. I took a leave of absence from PSU to finish Gen ed classes down in my home state cheaper then was going to go back to PSU. Thing is, NO natural sciences (19 PSU pages worth) transfer from AACC along with only 2 out of at least 20 art classes. AACC is way behind on their classes and needs a serious update ASAP. The teachers seem like they don't care about whether you the student pass or fail, nor do they care to help, saying to go the tutoring center when I have a basic question that a teacher could answer. I started attending music classes at AACC 3 years ago. I am thoroughly impressed! Teachers and coaches with significant theater and production experience. Classes with students ranging in age from 16-85! Now that is diverse! Love this college and truly agree it is the #1 community college in the country! read more

I am giving this institution a 1 star rating because of the way it treated my autistic student. If you or your child have autism or any sort of hidden disability which prevents you from communicating effectively, please take this into consideration before paying for courses at this school. I firmly believe that my student was discriminated against on the basis of his disability. My first year student was having problems with his English 112 teacher at the college, Ms. Candice Hill. The disability support services staff at his school did not appear to do much to advocate on his behalf, or to be much help in guiding him in the right direction. I believe that he was bullied and coerced into signing an academic dishonesty statement because she did not believe his work to be his own. He has Asperger's and has trouble communicating and understanding people in conversations. I know for a fact that he did not cheat on his assignment because I was there the whole time he was writing it. She told him that he did not deserve to be in her class and kicked him out after he turned in his first assignment. When we appealed to the school to provide reasonable accommodations to him, every step of the way, we found that the school supported the teacher, including the disability services center, which argued that there were provisions of the ADA that did not apply to them. It was very upsetting to see how these adults acted. They cared more about justifying their own unfair policies than they did about my kid's welfare. I just came out of an academic integrity hearing with the school and the teacher's argument was that my Autistic student plagiarized because there were a few sentences he wrote that looked like "paraphrases" of things on the internet she's seen before on the Greek play the whole class was writing about, "Sophocles." Apparently a child can get in trouble for plagiarism for their own original ideas on analyses of books that many other people have read and has come to the same conclusions on. There's only so many ways to describe the same plot and characters. Trust that this school will fight tooth and nail to defend every policy it has and all of its teachers, no matter what the harm done was. I'd say, please do not enroll your child in this institution unless you constantly want to fight with the school, its disability support services, and its teachers to get the needed support for your kid. Do your research and find another school that will be more accommodating for your child's specific disability. There are plenty of other local community colleges and online schools that may be a better fit. read more

Great school for a wide variety of credit and non credit programs. Excellent faculty as this is one of the top 10 community colleges in the nation! I was a student here in the mid 90s and transferred to Towson. I was very prepared for my education at Towson and I credit AACC with my success. read more

Terrible and overpriced! I found a non credit course the college was offering for less than half of what the college was charging. Total rip off! Also, don't expect to receive any refund expected to you in a timely manner. It's been over three weeks and still no money! They didn't waste their time taking my money. If employees can't do their job in a timely manner, hire new ones! read more
