This library is part of the Howard Library network and has a great set of books. Both their website and app are user-friendly to browse, hold and check out books. I'd certainly be frequenting it for getting some work done or quiet reading :)

Outside of enjoying that their collection stocks my personal favorite niche genre, I also love their "Be Surprised Bundle" program. You can fill out a form online and provide information about your favorite books (favorite authors, genres, themes, etc) and a librarian will curate a bundle of books for you. It's similar to "blind date books" that I've seen at some other libraries, but I enjoy this more because someone is trying to appeal to your specific tastes when selecting novels for you. There are also great books in their online collection. I love using the Libby app paired with my Kindle. I also love that they provide EV charging (paid) and EV/low-emission parking spots.

Overall, I had a nice experience at this library and thought the library had a very relaxed environment. I primarily used one of the individual workstations. While dazing in empty space during one of my breaks, I noticed that the library staff was very helpful with questions from patrons. The only thing that I would change, from my very brief experience at this branch. I wish the lights were a little brighter.

The ceiling here is gorgeous, and I like the listing of the various services offered to people in the area. Apparently, there was a guy who he thought was clearly high or similar, staring at anyone entering the men's bathroom. From the bit I interacted with the staff, they seemed friendly and helpful. I looked through a bit of their offerings, and they had a surprisingly large number of old films to rent, among other things. In short, a nice place to visit and take a load off.

A great place to take the kids…read more.. Love the children's area! There is a decently-stocked play area with toys and games appropriate for kiddos ages 6 months-5 years. There are usually coloring and activity pages available near the children's librarian's desk as well. The staff in the area is helpful and courteous. There is a children's restroom in the kids' area complete with toddler-sized potty and changing table. There is a changing table in the lobby women's room as well. There are usually plenty of parents around, and if you're a nursing mom, you'll never get the evil eye here (though you shouldn't get it anywhere, y'know?). Throughout the year, the library offers programs for children of all ages. These range from Babies in Bloom (newborn-24 months) to teen classes and workshops. I'd love to give the West County Area Library five stars, but I just can't get past the modern architecture and the somewhat sterile vibe. I guess that I just like a library to have some character (and no, that doesn't mean cobwebs and card catalogs; just a more traditional look).

A super cute neighborhood focused public library branch - I went for the first time to attend one…read moreof their free events, creating lanterns for lunar new year. Parking is really hard in this area because it's on a very busy street and in Fed Hill. This is very close to Cross Street market so you can grab a bite while you stop at this library branch if you wanted. I do think their selection is more focused on the youth because there are a lot of families and schools nearby but glad I finally got to go in because I've seen it for years.

I got up , told front desk guy, he refused to address the situation because his computer games he was playing were more important. I politely walked out. Libraries are not what they used to be. Staff don't have a back bone to enforce the rules. People can't even come and study no more without some inconsiderate individual on their cell phone. I'm just done with the fact cell phones use , not checked, ruins it for other people. I'm so over the non sense.

To start, the children's area is mostly empty, devoid of toys and other learning materials that allow children to express their creativity. Instead, the main children's are has a couple of round tables, a few chairs, a kids toy house in the middle of the service area, and a few old and dirty toys. That's it. For a community with over 9,000 children ages 9 and under. There's no enclosed place for kids. No new learning environments. How does Arbutus, which was last remodeled over a decade ago have a better kids play and learning area than Catonsville which was remodeled just last year? The other frustrating thing is that staff aren't around to help. There's one person at the desk. That's it. If there's a line of 3 people, they say they can't call for back up unless it gets longer. If you ask a person shelving books, they can't help either saying it's BCPL policy that two people can't help someone at the desk. I will say, the branch is clean and the bathrooms are way better. I also like the enclosed teen space which is nice. I also think generally, most of the staff are pretty pleasant. It just sucks that BCPL blundered the renovation and are hampering customer service.
