We came here after we were turned down by the host at Dignita since they were so busy and was only taking reservations. She recommended that we come here which was walking distance. The menu didn't have a wide range of selections for lunch..We settled for the club sandwiches. It was ok, nothing to rave about. I was quite disappointed bc we took the train all the way here with the intent to eat at Dignitas which I heard was really good only to come here to eat some mediocre sandwiches. First full day in Amsterdam, and I really needed some comfort food due to jet lag and an uneasy stomach. I wanted to go to a different place that was recommended, Dignita Vondelpark, but the line was too long, and we were getting hangry, so we backtracked to Anne & Max because there was no line and pistachio croissants were advertised on the chalk board outside, which was a huge draw for me. I'm a lover of the pastry! I had a caffe latte (enough octane to last all day for me), the pistachio croissant, and the fruit & granen (granola). The croissant was good, but the fruit and granola were extraordinary. The homemade granola wasn't too sweet, and the slightly sour kwark (resembling yogurt) balanced the fruit and granola perfectly. Fruit and yogurt is my go to during the work week, so to find something healthy and just as delicious as home, pretty much guarantees I'll be back for breakfast tomorrow. And the icing on the cake--the staff were very friendly and appreciated that we tried to say a few words in Dutch. What's not to like? read more

I went here for the first time about a month ago. LOCATION: The location is fairly easy to spot and it's in a less busy area of the city, so it's a pretty nice and chill area lol. 3/5 ATMOSPHERE: It's fairly clean and cute inside, and they've got some outdoor seating as well. 3/5 SELECTION: A lot of their menu is focused on brunch-type items, so breakfast foods, sandwiches, salads, soups, and then a few other snack-type items, like nachos, that they serve in the afternoon. Although I wish there were more, I like that they have at least a couple of clearly-labeled vegan items. 3/5 WHAT I GOT: I got their Profound Porridge. It was just okay-ish. I'm a huge oatmeal fan, and when I saw this oatmeal listed on the menu, with a bunch of toppings, I was excited. But, it ended up being a little underwhelming to be honest. The amount of actual oatmeal in the bowl was actually just like a thin layer, and it was lukewarm. At least it was thick (how I like it) and not soupy though. The toppings were a little underwhelming also because they just didn't taste like they were of that great quality or care. They weren't like spoiled, but the banana was bruised, and they used freeze-dried strawberries, even though the menu says "fresh fruit." 2/5 SERVICE: The employees seemed friendly, including our waitress, but for some reason, our food (besides a drink and a piece of their Vegan Banana Bread) -- three Profound Porridges -- took a very long time. It was probably about 45 minutes, and there weren't even a ton of customers. Plus, oatmeal doesn't take that long to make. Wonderful spot for a weekend afternoon lunch followed by coffee, or high tea with their delicious buttery soft scones. The sandwich with hummus and guacamole is my favorite menu item here followed by the scones. Be careful, though, as one just isn't enough. While there are tables and a few sofa chairs downstairs, I love sitting upstairs as it tends to be less transient and more cozy. Location is perfect and a short walk from the south entrance to VondelPark. In fact, we frequent this spot quite a lot when the weather is nice. read more

A really nice corner restaurant that is great for breakfast and lunch. I was there for brunch right before noon and it was delicious and good value. I ordered the ' EEN GOED BEGIN...' breakfast and it comes with juice, coffee, bread , nice eggs with spinach, bacon and baked tomatoes for 10.50 euros. We have a pretty big group and the waitress seems to have a hard time keeping track of our orders. Both me and another guy have waited for the juice and coffee for a while and had to reminded her for the orders. A lot of people come here also for their nice coffee. If you like their coffee and come here often, don't forget to get the card to collect stamp for free coffee. read more

We ordered the brunch 22 euro for 2 persons, but it was lack of variety and thus doesn't meet my expectations for that price. 5-6 pieces of bread, two tiny soups for each person, 5 pieces of cucumber, 4 slides of ham, 3 sauces, about 10 pieces of non-fresh rucola with 3 dried tomatoes, 4 slides of cheese, and two juices, these all we have for 22 euro. I will only pay for 15 euro at most regarding the quality and variety. The staff forgot the juice until when we paid and we asked for it. The rucola is a bit "tired" (not fresh) when it was served. Only the bread is nice. It could be a nice place to enjoy the sun before 11:30 but afterwards the sun is behind the building. I know the restaurants at the area is usually expensive and i am used to it because we live in the neighborhood, but obviously it is still not worth. read more

We had two friends traveling so they were with the suitcases and the girls in the restaurant arranged a small corner for 6 people understanding the situation we are in. That already indeed deserves a 5 comparing this level of service with the others in Holland. I had a casual breakfast( egg, bread, cheese, tomatoes) for myself but definitely suggest you to go for breakfast for 2. A great big plate with so many options. All good and tasty. Passed by this cafe a few times, and the place seems nice. Always pretty crowded, so the coffee must be good. So we decided to try it out and got pleasantly surprised! Yes, the coffee is good. But I did not know that they have quite an extensive menu too! After a good workout at the gym, my boyfriend and I felt like we deserved a really good brunch. And that's exactly what we got at Anne&Max. We had the 'Good Start' breakfast, french toast, oats and scones. (Yes, we were hungry). Had a really lovely breakfast here and we could not believe our eyes when our platter for 2 arrived as it was humongous! The eggs can only be cooked in the oven since they don't have a stove which is fine but we found ours to be a bit over cooked and not very tasty. Not to worry as we easily filled our tummies up with all of the other delicious goodies - croissants, three types of homemade bread with three kinds of spread, yogurt parfaits, prosciutto, cheese and smoothies! We were in Amsterdam for 5 days in the first week of September and we discovered Anne&Max because it was two blocks from our hotel. What luck for us! We had breakfast there every day (great bowl of granola with fresh fruit and yogourt, croissants, pastries and very good cappuccino) as well as fabulous sandwiches for lunch.
