Dr George is a good doctor, very professional, not too quick to recommend a specialist, but willing when necessary. I recommend her. Calm waiting room if a bit public... sometimes you can hear other people's business. There's maybe five examining rooms, and no weird smell like some doctors' offices have. The lab lady is also nice and professional, and you don't have to make an appointment to get lab work done. Update: Front desk has improved over the past year or so! Excellent. The man is generally helpful, willing to help find an appointment time, etc. He even called me once half an hour after I'd left to see if the car keys they found in the office belonged to me (nope, but I appreciate the thought). The woman is hit-or-miss. For example, she scheduled me for the wrong day - it wasn't really anyone's fault - but then charged me a missed appointment fee _and_ a copay for the same day and refused to fix it. Dr. George works at Advent Health Group with several other doctors. She was very thorough and has a great bedside manner. She took her time with the exam and listened very attentively to everything I had to say. I would definitely recommend her. I found the receptionists and support staff at Advent Health Group to be pretty good, too. When I called to make an appointment, someone picked up right away and was very helpful about giving me directions. There was only a short wait of about 10 minutes to see Dr. George when I arrived for my appointment. Dr. George's office is very conveniently located whether you're driving or taking the Metro. It's just a few blocks from Virginia Square. If you're driving, don't park in Advent's parking lot. I would park for free in the library parking lot across the street. read more

She's a good internist, I think - but she can be DIFFICULT to interact and deal with; and that is NOT good when a patient, who is sick, needs some simple urgent care (an antibiotic prescription for a common ailment like a urinary infection (UTI) - which is VERY common in women. read more

Dr. George has a good personality, gives concise answers to your concern and diagnoses correctly every time. I was afraid her accent was going to be too thick to understand her well, but she speaks very clearly with only a minor accent. Definitely recommend her... The only problem is the support staff is a bit abrasive. They seem to rotate the MA's fairly often so it's hit or miss. read more

I am so so so disappointed in Dr. Annie George. I recently visited a new facility she recently moved to, John Hopkins in Bethesda.. I arrived a few minutes late because of rush hour traffic, I apologized as soon as I got there and even tried to call on my way but the phone was busy! (yes, their line was actually busy). As soon as I arrived, the front desk receptionist was so rude, no manners, I spent over an hour trying to get there and I was greeted by a lady who was going off on me, raised her voice at me at one point - why do such people even allowed to interact with patients? I paid for my office visit upfront with cash because I was between jobs and didn't have insurance at the time. The nurses were incompetent - they had such a hard time entering my vitals into their system. I finally saw Dr. Annie George briefly, was only checked out for 5 minutes, and told I had a nerve disorder (can you really diagnose someone of a nerve disorder in 5 minutes?). She gave me a prescription for steroids, etc, and said I should get a blood test. I told her I was paying cash because I'm in between jobs and don't have coverage so she could refer me to a more cost effective blood work lab. To really make this experience horrible, one month later, I receive a second bill charging me for the "remaining" portion of the office visit, which was 3 times the amount I was originally told I'd be charged. I thought perhaps there was a glitch in the system, this must be a mistake as I had already paid for the office visit upfront since I was paying with cash. I called the office and spoke to the office manager, Cece Stovall, who was extremely unprofessional and said that she does NOT want to help me, All this for a 5 minute visit! I was hopeful when I left a message for Dr. George to help clarify as the new charges made no sense. She called me back apologizing she couldn't do anything to help and hope I can work things out with the office manager. I am very very disappointed in you, Dr. Annie George, I used to have a lot of respect for you and I've been following you around for years as you've moved from one clinic to another. I'm really disappointed you would work in a place like this and try to squeeze out more money from someone who doesn't even have a job right now and is trying to get a medical emergency addressed. I ended up going to a neurologist soon after and, no, I don't even have a nerve disorder. I will never be returning here again or seeing Dr. Annie George again. I guess money has become more important to her now than providing excellent care to her patients. read more

I've been going to Dr. George at the Bethesda location for about 3 years. Although she is my Primary Care Physician, I do not see her often because I have certain specialists that I see for my Diabetes, and Heart problems and recently broken hip. I find her to be a somewhat caring but quite professional doctor. She is willing to extend the appointment by more than 15 minutes if needed. She doesn't communicate well, however. I recently went to her for swelling in my right ankle that came out of nowhere. It is quite severe at night. Dr George sent me for an ultrasound to see if there was a blood clot. There was not. She posted a message on My Chart to inform me of this. But then she added to come back "IF the swelling gets worse" I guess since there was not a blood clot, it's fixed. No followup, no research as to what else it could be. I went to her because wanted to determine what this was BEFORE it got worse. I was quite disappointed in her and also with the 2 doctors she previously referred me to for help after a bad surgery on my broken hip. read more

I like going to see Dr. George for the most part, but would agree with the folks who have commented on her staff. The gentlemen is usually pretty helpful, but if you the woman - look out. Just getting her to help you or ask a simple question (which I thought fell into her job description) is a major task for her. I have seen Dr. George a couple of times now for basic medical questions. I think it is amazing that she offers Saturday hours! Her office is in Ballston and is clean. I can usually get an appointment within a few days and do not have to wait after my appointment time, which is very unusual for the area. She is a great doctor for basic needs, but I'm not sure how I would feel if I had serious questions. She asks questions without taking a long time, and hears you out if you have something to say. She gave me some samples so I wouldn't have to pay for an expensive prescription too! Overall, I would say she is probably the best you can find on a Saturday! read more

Do NOT go here. Every single time they make me wait 30 minutes AFTER the appointment time. It is extremely frustrating and an absolute waste of my time. This has happened on 4 separate occasions. Really loved Dr. George but she left Advent. Would love to find out where she went but no luck searching for her on the web. If anyone knows, please post. The practice is fine. Lorraine Guthrie is also very careful and helpful although I don't believe she is an MD. The phlebotomist is fantastic. The man at the front desk is very efficient. Parking is a pain. Some street parking and a small pay parking lot. Location is near the metro so that's pretty convenient for some. read more

Dr. George is very a very good doctor. She is patient and knowledgeable. She is not like most doctors who just write prescriptions. She actually spends time asking you how you're feeling and asking for your symptoms. She reads through your file and makes sure that you are up to date with everything you need. As others have already mentioned, the office staff is exact opposite. The office staff is not professional at all. They are either yapping on their cell phones, standing around talking about non-work related matters or shopping online. Not sure why they have five plus people standing around and one person actually working. The man who seems to do all the work is very helpful and very organized. In my opinion the doctor does not listen well. After three visits I have found her to be consistently gruff and without a bedside manner. On my first visit she dismissed out of hand a test that another trusted doctor had ordered (I would still be going to the previous doctor had he not closed his practice). She pushed immediately for a medication I took briefly and had problems with in the past and refused to consider other options (the medication was for a non-life threatening issue). read more

This is a combination which results in a highly effective experience, a well informed compassionate doctor who communicates honestly working in a practice which provides excellent service, followup and a portal that is actually usable. I've been going to Dr. Annie George since last year and think she's great. She has a warm personality, always listens to my concerns, and seems very knowledgeable. I have called for her a few times to ask questions and she has always called me back the same day. Also, I have not had to wait too long for my appointments with her. When I last went there the other month for my annual physical, I didn't even have to wait at all and was brought into the exam room as soon as I walked into the office. My only criticism would be that the few times that I've called for her, her receptionists have put me on hold for around 5-10 minutes. Other than that, I think the office is great! read more

When Dr. George called and told me the results were fine, I said I still had the problem. I went to see Dr. George for a rash-she gave me a prescription for three days and said she'd call in a prescription if the rash didnt clear up. Three days later I was told I had to go back to see her. She saw me for a minute or two, charged me $50 and gave me a prescription. When the rash still didnt go away, she said she'd leave a referral for an allergist, when i went to pick it up, I found that she hadn't in fact left a referral and was not to be disturbed because it was her day of. It was helll getting her office staff to give me a referral. I'd recommed Dr. Natividad (same oractice) instead. Why bother with a doctor who doesnt care to provide basic decent care? read more

Dr George should, in my opinion, not be allowed to practice medicine. She made a mistake which, altho not medical, was quite upsetting and refused to apologize, saying everything was my fault. She could have apologized for the misunderstanding if that's what she thought it was.I have been rushed in and out like cattle being branded. She never authorized blood work which is needed to monitor a number of prescriptions. She is unsympathetic and never even caught my heart murmur! What kind of doctor misses something like that? Patient? On time? That's a new one on me. Wait time has been prolonged. She is obviously upset by my service dog - who sits quietly out of the way - but won't admit or even comment on it. Tough s**t, I need my dog and she's allowed by federal law to be there. Who cares what languages she speaks, it's her English which needs work, as she doesn't understand what is in my chart and then wonders why I "misunderstood" (which I didn't) her. She also didn't take the time to even listen to, let along answer, my questions. Pop, here's a paper with an exercise (why?). Pop, here are 2 referrals. Pop, out the door so the next piece of livestock can come in. What happened to docs who at least act as tho they care, who take the time needed to make sure the patient knows what is happening?
