I've been going to see doctor Gupta for over 20 years now and he's generally a great doctor. I think no one is perfect and the outcome you're sometimes looking for isn't going to be the one he prescribes but I believe that happens with any doctor. I'm not dismissing other people's experience with him, rather saying that I've been a long time patient and still choose to be one. He's always happy to see me and tries his best to listen to my concerns when I come in. read more

I first went to Dr Gupta 4 years ago with a concern about my knee. He was generally unhelpful, telling me that I probably had no cause for concern but still referred me to a specialist that ended up being unhelpful as well. Fast forward to present day - I went to go visit him with another concern. After spending most of my visit talking about his own personal life and telling me that I looked to be in great shape (weird), he told me that I probably had no cause for concern (despite my discomfort and issues I was having with my body health) and just told me to go get blood and urine work done. I listened and did just that. The results came back pretty clean so I thought there was no cause for concern. 3 weeks later, my symptoms worsened so I called him on a Saturday to ask if there was any medicine I could take or if he could possibly prescribe me antibiotics to help me with an infection. He was very curt, blunt and rude over the phone telling me that I wasn't listening to him and if I wanted his opinion to just take it. He told me to go to urgent care so they could tell me what was wrong. Oh not to mention that he made sarcastic/snide remarks about asking me if I had multiple sexual partners without any sensitivity toward my situation. He was more interested in sounding sarcastic and lackadaisical than concerned. I wonder if he treats all his patients and even his own kids this way. If a Primary Care Physician can't even prescribe antibiotics, ever tell me what's wrong with my body and will lack any and all empathy when addressing me health concerns, what good is he? Seems like Dr. Gupta would be better suited to just being a guidance counselor since all he's interested in is discussing what he did over the weekend instead of offering any helpful medical advice or solutions. Not sure if he's past his prime, but these days, Dr. Gupta, you need some empathy and patience when speaking with folks. It's called being kind. If you're going to be rude because I "need to listen what I'm telling you to do and just take my opinion you called me for" when I'm clearly concerned and in pain, then you clearly have other issues. Never going back to this "doctor". Read the other poor reviews he has. It checks out. Seems like it's time for him to check out and hit the retirement stride. read more

I switched to a different primary care physician over a year ago because of how upsetting I found my last visit and what is evidently falsified information in my patient records at this office. It feels important that others know about it now that I'm dusting my records off again. The reason I decided to switch doctors was because of my last appointment here. There was a miscommunication or misunderstanding between me and staff. I scheduled an appointment for bloodwork because of abnormal thyroid results I received at another clinic. Dr Gupta's office advised me to fast for this blood work, so I fasted all day to arrive at 4pm for my blood draw, and I was told that blood draws don't happen after 3pm. (I later learned the blood work I was seeking also does not require fasting). Next, I talked with Dr Gupta about the reason I was seeking confirmatory blood work, which was because I had abnormal thyroid hormone results from my gyn. He was extremely dismissive of the qualifications of that doctor (whom I love), and my need to be concerned. I then made an unrelated ask about getting a prescription for Diamox ahead of a high-altitude mountaineering expedition I had been training all year for and that I was about to imminently depart on. He said he would have to study up on it and get back to me (which he never did). He also checked out my toenails which were falling off because of all the hiking I was doing. Anyway, I switched to a different PCP for my blood work follow-up and in reviewing Dr Gupta's notes on my visit, nothing was as we discussed. From that last visit, it read: "Patient counseled on reducing carbohydrate intake... eliminating sugary drinks, proportion control, and calorie counting. Education materials provided. Continue diet and exercise" This was never a topic of discussion, and the advice is poor form given my prior history of in-patient hospitalization for anorexia. Annotations from my prior 4 years of visits were annotated "Medication Adherence discussed" even though I wasn't on any medications throughout that entire time period. The icing on the cake was when I switched, I pressed a button in the portal to request my patient records be emailed to the new clinic... I received a call from Dr. Gupta's staff shortly after asking me to come to the office to pay a $10 fee to have my medical records (that I can freely print on my own) transferred to the new office. I had many PCPs and I left the last one in 2015 following a negligent attitude from the doctor. But, for the first since the year 2000, and without a doubt of making a biased statement, I can say that I have finally found dedicated caring PCP. Extremely attentive to the patient's concerns and engaging genuinely in a dialogue with the patient while running an controlled schedule. Bravos and greatly impressed. I selected Dr Gupta for my family practice doc after years in the military. He was well reviewed, especially by his peers in Washingtonian magazine. I have visited Dr Gupta twice in the last year. He saw me same-day when I was very sick and diagnosed pneumonia. I was thankful for this level of service given his busy practice. Dr Gupta is no nonsense and efficient, which I appreciate. He is not unkind, though. He just maximizes the use of his time. Overall, I highly recommend him. read more

After moving here from Portland, Oregon I found myself in search of a new general practitioner. After many frustrated calls around to people I'd found on webmd.com who didn't seem to be accepting any new patients (how convenient), I came across Dr. Gupta's profile. He's close to my apartment, which is convenient; but (for those of us who are in between insurance carriers) also well priced. The office staff are not your typical staff who are, well, all attitude, quite frankly. The staff at his office have always been quite pleasant and professional, per my experience. They've also been very accommodating when I'd felt the need for an urgent visit; going out of their way to find a way to squeeze me in. As for the doctor himself, I am very grateful to have found him. I've really never felt as comfortable with any other doctor. I've never felt rushed; I've never felt as though any questions I have are silly and I always feel that I've got his undivided attention and that he really cares. He's very kind and attentive. A very cool guy. Also, he's definitely NOT a prescription-happy physician; which I am grateful for. He's very good about making sure that any information given is understood and very good at communicating. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Gupta. Dr. Gupta is amazing! He really wants to know about all of his patients, and he remembers everything about each and every one. He was recommended to me through a family member and I am so glad I went. The office is very low-frills. Not super fancy, but you can tell its so that they can keep costs down for their patients. The doctor doesn't listen. just keeps talking non-stop. he probably does this job so he can talk to people. and eventually when you tell him your problems he will provide diagnostics without knowing any history or additional questions, as if 1 fits all. when i later mentioned the tests i have conducted in the past, he tells me why i didn't mention to him before. i would have if he would let me speak. i think its time for him to retire as he probably is giving you advice straight out of WebMD.com. read more

This fellow is, quite simply, not a very good doctor. Not only does he apparently record nothing of medical significance in his notes, he always wants to talk politics. Now, I of course respect his right to think and say what he wants, but it's improper to bring it up in the context of a medical treatment. On my most recent -- and what will be my final -- meeting with him, he seemed annoyed when I didn't want to discuss politics and was thereafter rude. People need to be able to have lives outside of politics, and people seeking (and paying for) medical treatment have a reasonable expectation of not being harassed and harangued by their physician if they don't want to jump on whatever their political bandwagon happens to be. All of this might've been overcome if he could recall, either from memory or his notes, details about my medical history. He couldn't. So, I'm looking for a new doctor. read more

I wish I could give Dr. Gupta a 10-star rating. He is truly epitomizes being a healer. Knowledgeable, involved and patient - Dr. Gupta always goes above and beyond for his patients. My entire family and I have seen him at some point or the other. His holistic approach to medicine is truly appreciated by each of us. I have always admired a physician who wanted to treat the illness and not the symptom. His love for medicine reflects in his treatments. I also had the privilege of shadowing Dr. Gupta for a period of time; he is brilliant and accommodating. He went out of his way to quiz me on upcoming exams and patiently helped me understand concepts in a real-life setting. He allowed me to be hands-on with patients (attaining vital signs, assisting with annual physicals, diabetic counseling, etc) while supervising and guiding me. The management is terrible. They charge 3% for every credit card transaction. They send bills in the mail without a return envelope. I don't understand why do all these penny pinching tricks with patients. I haven't seen any other doctor's office that pulls such cheapness. Dr. Gupta has been my personal physician for over 20 years, and he will remain as such for as long as he practices medicine. He is not only a brilliant doctor, he is also a warm, kind, empathetic person, who shows his patients genuine concern and compassion. He looks at the individual as a whole, above and beyond just focusing on specific symptoms. His training is in traditional western medicine, but he does not dismiss the mind-body connection, as far too may doctors do. His staff is always efficient and courteous, and I always leave with a good feeling, regardless of my state of health! If you are in need of a physician, or just tired of the substandard care you are currently receiving, you must give Dr. Gupta a try. read more
