I'm so happy with the folks at Annie's. I bought a beautiful Motawi framed tile elsewhere, and realized that I did not have confidence in the "hanging notch" it came with. Enter Annie's! I happened to come in at a time when it was quiet and was able to have hanging hardware installed in just a few minutes. Now I don't have to worry about the piece falling off of the wall. I was disappointed in the museum glass framing. I was replacing art where I had other museum glass art up. Definitely had more glare with this new framing here. Our other artwork that was framed at another place some 20 years ago had no glare at all. Same spot where I replace with new art. The manager did inform me that even with museum quality glass there is some glare. We can live with it but I will not be back for any future museum glass framing here. read more

This is my second time visiting Annie's Art and Frame to get print's framed and both times have been exceptional in service and quality. Today I had the pleasure of working with Stephan to frame about 10 prints for a collage wall. I am not very good at these types of things but they were so patient and gave wonderful suggestions on different types of frames and how to save some money without sacrificing the look of the piece that is being framed and I really appreciated all the kind and patient help. Especially for complex framing. Also, they're willing to accommodate quick turnarounds. Got 4 pictures I took mounted. I was thinking of single frame for each, or maybe 2 in one. We popped into Annie's today to get 3 pieces framed. We spent a good 40 minutes with Sooman who helped us navigate through the complex world of framing. Custom frames, matted? Anti glare? All of it. He was patient, kind, funny, and engaged the entire time. Was it pricey? A little, but honestly not compared to other framing stores I've been to. Will it be worth it? YES. If you are looking for personable framers and want to support an awesome local biz who has been on Market St FOREVER, go to Annie's. Annie's Art and Frame is a cute gift shop on the main drag in Ballard. I have not used their framing services but I have purchased some HILARIOUS cards and neat little gifts and knick knacks here. It's a step up from and slightly more serious than the gift section at Urban Outfitters. There are also lots and lots of posters, including those cool ones where the city is broken down into the names of neighborhoods. If you are merely perusing and not inquiring about framing, they totally leave you alone. The first time I visited this made me feel neglected and ignored, but most recently it didn't bother me. They are always friendly and chatty when they ring you up. I guess they should be when you are handing them money. I'm rarely in Ballard these days but I could see myself making a point of heading to Annie's Art and Frame if I was looking for a gift or poster. Or frame. They have those as well. read more

This place is insanely overpriced. I had a large print framed and it was over $1200 for the frame which was 4x what the print cost. Not only that, it took forever and they never called to tell me it was done. When I picked it up, the print was wavy and not properly installed into the frame. I had to take it back and get charged MORE to have it fixed. And they took an additional 2 weeks. They said they'd put it on a rush. Yeah right. AND they didn't call when it was done AGAIN. The ONLy reason it gets two stars is because the employees are nice. So if you want to over pay for a frame and wait forever for it to be finished, Annie's is your spot. So many cheaper alternatives. Never again Annie's. Never again. read more

I brought my first 20x30 printed photo here to be framed as a Christmas gift. I found this place through Yelp and couldn't have been more impressed. EVERYONE was friendly, helpful, and seemed to genuinely care about the job they were doing from conception to pickup. I went in with no idea what I wanted and let Sarah T coach me through my choices Mat, Frame, Budget, DEADLINE... She was patient, gave me great advice, really knew her products, and even SHARED my excitement about the project. She personally called me a day ahead of schedule to let me know I could pick it up. My art was damaged, repaired, and ultimately replaced. The process took 3 months. Inevitably, mistakes can and will happen--it's how one responds and acts that matters. Ultimately, Annie's earned my 5-star review for impeccable service, professionalism, and delivery. Read on for the full story... My husband and I had purchased a souvenir print from Scotland, which I brought into Annie's to have framed a week before Father's Day. The design process with Katie was very positive. Several days later, I was contacted by the store manager, Sara M., who explained that the print had sustained a small scuff mark during the framing process. Because my voicemail was full, she left me a very detailed text, with photos, a plan to correct the mistake, and options offered if it was not to my liking. The print was unable to be fully restored, so Sara recommended that the store replace the print. I agreed and the replacement process began. In the interim, I accepted her offer to frame the original print so that my husband would have it to open on Father's Day. Over the summer she communicated updates. When the new print arrived, she drove to my house--showed me the new print and took the old one to have it swapped out. Because she was at my house, she was able to see the picture in it's natural light and answer my questions about glass adjustments to cut down on the glare. I opted to switch to a non-glare glass, which I am very pleased with. A few days later, she delivered the new and improved print back to my home. Without me having to ask, the store comped everything (minus the $30 up-charge for the non-glare glass...which I did not ask to be comped). All in all, yes--I was disappointed that my piece was damaged. However, mistakes are an inevitable part of life and thus it provided a great opportunity to model to our four kids how one can respond when things don't go the way that one had hoped for, or planned. I am grateful to Sara (on behalf of Annie's) for her acceptance of responsibility, professionalism, communication, and follow-through of a great product. Most framing stores are pretty boring to me. Annie's is different because they carry products that catch you. I feel like I make a lot of impulse buys here because things are either cute, useful, or simply "must have." In terms of paper, they have unique greeting cards. I'm always looking for cards since I'm always writing cards. I love cards that are a bit off the beaten path either because of the art or content. They also carry a great selection of notebooks which can be used for anything but some of them are ideal for bullet journals. I love their rotating stock of prints! They have things like native-inspired Seahawks prints and the Seattle neighborhood map prints. Need something for your kitchen? Not to worry - there's some very unique kitchen gadgets here. Also, I found a really great lime green Hydroflask cup for my brother here. It was Sounders green and I hadn't seen that color anywhere else at the time I bought it. It was perfect! Annie's has a lot more than just art and frames. In fact, I went in there to check out some barware I'd been eyeing. The front of the store is everything from Hydroflasks to kids toys, and honestly I could spend a long time checking everything out. They have art (a given), but also cards, stationary, totes, phone accessories, decals and lots of other things that would make great gifts. The entire back half of the store is frames, so if that's what you're looking for and the name hasn't given it away yet, you're in the right place. I went here for the first time after my boyfriend encouraged me to give them a try. My regular framer closed their downtown store and I thought it would be nice to find someplace closer for the many pieces I need to frame. The girl who helped me out was friendly and really patient which I appreciated. I had very specific wishes for each print and she took many notes which made me feel pretty confident that everything would be done correctly. When my larger piece was ready within two weeks of dropping it off, I went to pick it up and looked at it quickly and loved it at first glance. Upon returning home however, I noticed that they had not centered the piece as I had asked (it was very obviously off-center) and you could see the chopped off edge of the mat at the top of the frame. The double mat I ordered wasn't evenly cut (some sides were thicker than others) and the edge of the piece was sticking up along one of the edges. So many things!! :( I decided to wait and bring it in when I went to pick up my second piece. I got a call soon after saying that the special order frame was accidentally broken while they were assembling it and that they would have to order a new one. Not a big deal, accidents happen. So that frame was delayed an additional two weeks on top of the two weeks it had already been. When my boyfriend picked up the piece and brought it home, I saw that, again, they missed many requests I had made when placing my order. 1.) They had not centered the castle in the frame 2.) They allowed for the white edge around the print to show (who does that automatically?) so that with the double mat I requested, it had three bands of color around the piece. 3.) The mats were, again, not cut evenly. Some sides were wider than others. I paid over $225 for both of these pieces (and for one I supplied the frame!) so for that price I expect perfection. I took both pieces back and explained everything that needed to be fixed and they were very nice and said they would do it within a few hours. Much appreciated! I had already waited a whole month at this point. BUT when my boyfriend picked up the pieces and I saw them, the mats (that had been totally recut) were STILL not even around all the edges!!! I couldn't believe it. I have always gone to Aaron Brothers for all my framing needs and have been so wowed every time. I decided to give Annie's a try since Aaron Brothers is now so far away, but had I known it would be such a hassle I would've gladly driven out of my way for a much better experience. It should be noted that after my BF haggled with them to get some sort of discount they eventually offered 10% off my NEXT purchase...hmm. Better than nothing I guess. Since I have known others who have had such stellar experiences there's a slight chance I'll give them one last shot but for now I think I'll give someone else my business. read more

Great little stationary store. More than that, actually. I happened upon this store while parking in Ballard to meet friends for dinner. It was the night before my fiancé's birthday so because I had a few spare minutes, I popped in to see what they had. Like any art framing store they've got all the materials needed to get your home art custom framed. But to my surprise they also had a cute rack of stationary, small trinkets, gifts, locally made items like magnets and jewelry and stickers, and more. I found a great card, bought a few spare items for home, and had a lovely brief chat with the gal at the counter. Framing can be expensive, but if you can do it yourself then be my guest. I've found that Annie's employees often offer affordable alternative to framing issues. They're dry-mounting is going to be the perfect solution for my new Obama poster. In another case, we were able to use a ready-made frame which cut the cost down in half. I've framed plenty of my own pieces, but I'm not about to become a matte cutter. I think Annie's gives great service and, compared to framers in other cities I've lived in, pretty good prices. Really, framing is for grown-ups. If you have the allowance of a teenager, you can resort to tape and tacks, but if you're going to hang art you should have it framed. read more

I've heard about this place for awhile now and never bothered to use them. Not really sure why, maybe it's that I was used to paying $500 per frame for my paintings. When one of my current clients needed some of their collateral framed, I knew this was my chance. This place is amazing. Really. Prices are quite reasonable, great selection of items, staff are friendly, super skilled and really go out of their way to make sure you're absolutely satisfied with your valued art (even if it's your 3 year old's finger paintings). I was blown away by how good the service was. The sweet woman in turquoise helped me. I recently had my deceased pup's picture, dog tags, paw print, and clump of hair framed. I felt somewhat ridiculous for getting it all framed, but the gal made me feel right at home and we got to work. She was quick and skilled in the craft of choosing matting colors, frames, design, etc. I could tell she had a good artful eye. It was awesome! She knew her stuff and had the friendly personality to make it easy and the end result beautiful. Thank you so much for the great service, product, and experience. I will be back!! Not just a frame store, but a surprisingly fantastic place to get gifts! I basically did all my Christmas shopping here: stationery set, art prints, airplane kits, and remote-controlled robots. Done! I've been given some wonderful prints from here, too. They also have the best selection of non-cheesy greeting cards in Ballard (closely followed by Venue and Secret Garden). I came in during their Anniversary celebration, and I got such a nice welcome. They had cheese, crackers, cookies, wine,... There was a down-and-out guy who came in there, and they welcomed him as well :) Such nice, kind, friendly owner(s) and staff. Unlike other "service/sales" stores, theyre not pushy at all. You don't have to worry about the word "affordable" disappearing from the name, as Annie's is still very much affordable. I went there this weekend and was pleasantly surprised at the price quotes I received. I have 4 MOMA posters that I have wanted to get framed for a while, but I wasn't real anxious to spend a fortune to do that. I went to Michaels down at Southcenter and received an outrageous quote. I found these reviews of Annie's here on Yelp and went there this past weekend. A woman named Rachel took care of me, recommended some very nice metal frames and took the time to pick out colors that would accentuate the pictures, and the price was at least 50% less than the price-gouging I would have received at Michaels. It looks like they have a pretty wide selection of frames. I had a good idea of what I wanted when I walked in, so I really didn't look around too much, but they had what I wanted, so I was pleased. Customer service was great. They were very busy on a Saturday afternoon, but I did not feel rushed in the slightest. I can recommend Annie's without reservation. read more

He got the dust treatment and mounting and wrapping, but I still feel like anything over like... $25 is WAY TOO MUCH. I bought an amazing piece of original art for my boyfriend's birthday and I wanted to get it professionally matted and framed. After getting an estimate from Aaron's Brothers downtown, I headed over to Annie's for a second opinion. It thought that the prices would be slightly lower than norm, hence the 'affordable'; unfortunately, the total price came out to be about $50 more. Nonetheless, I have absolutely no regrets about going with Annies! The piece came out amazing, and the quality of service is unbeatable. One of the employees charged my credit card twice, but they promptly refunded my money and gave me a courtesy gift certificate. This place rules. We've brought a few things here for custom framing and matting and have been impressed with the quality of the work and the price. They have all sorts of cool stuff in the store in addition to their prints and frames. I will forever love this place because the the following reasons: 1. I brought in a couple things to be framed, but requested they cut off the bottom 3 inches of a print I brought in, which in turn means they needed to custom cut the frame and glass for it as well. They forgot to cut the piece off I requested and had already custom cut the frame, et al. When I pointed this out, they didn't even bat an eye, promised to have it done by the next day. When I went in to pick it up the next morning, it wasn't finished yet, but the lady working the front walked it to my work 2 blocks away when they did finish! Wow, I was blown away. 2. We brought in a print and a frame we bought at IKEA and requested a mat custom cut for it. The lady at the front didn't even judge us for being cheapskates. The cut the mat and had the frame ready in less 30 minutes. It was only $6. $6!!!! The beer I drank at a nearby bar while I waited cost the same, before a tip. Annie's is my go-to shop for all my framing needs. The staff is amazing, courteous, friendly, and goes above and beyond! They also have great prices! read more

Annie's is one of the best frame shops I have ever been to. They have absolutely fantastic service, very fair prices and super quality work when it comes to framing art. I often get large artwork framed and had tried a few different framing stores in the Seattle area before going to Annie's. While those frame shops were decent, I was absolutely blown away by how great Annie's is, As a result I will never go to another framing shop again. Apart from delivering great products at very good prices, I have to say that I really enjoyed the customer service. All the people working at Annie's have a terrific attitude and seem to enjoy their work. Annie's is a fairly large store. When you walk in you'll notice dozens of amazing posters, mostly depicting bands and musicians. There is a very small selection of nice frames and a selection of supplies too. Although I never utilized their services, they seem to have a lot of resources and other opinions on this place would convince me to come here if I had a special framing project. read more

After moving to my new city of Seattle, I wanted to get some artwork framed and was recommended to Annie's, which is right in my neighborhood. I can highly recommend this framing shop -- I've gone back several times now and have been happy with each experience. Like another review, I did frame one piece of art, and it was matted slightly crooked. I asked about it and they offered to re-matte the print at no charge. Another time, I dropped off 4 posters and several pieces of original art to be framed, which they promised me a pick-up date of Friday. When I didn't receive a call to pick it up (they usually call to let you know it's ready), I called that Sunday morning. They apologized that they were just finishing it, and when I arrived to pick it up, they offered me a $25 gift certificate since it was late. This wasn't necessary, but was a nice gesture, considering some of the prints I wanted framed were a friend's that was visiting in town that weekend. All in all, I have been very pleased with my prints done at Annie's. They are reasonably priced (could be a litttttle bit cheaper, maybe..) and have super friendly staff, that often will work with you, if you're unsure of what you're looking for. The overall look of all the frames/ matting have been incredibly professional and well done. My only suggestion for improvement would be nice if they offered additional choices of ready-made frames (this selection is somewhat limited). Hit and miss -- but there's a lot of hit! Their selection of prints was a lot more mainstream / typical Seattle than I expected: if you have a dorm room to furnish or want a Nikki McClure print, head here. However, their selection of affordable ready made frames and other creative ways to hang posters and wall art is second to none. I came here expecting it to be the other way around: I'd get some art prints at Annie's and then take them to some place cheap to get frames. Instead I got an awesome red lacquer frame for a print I have and a perfect black frame for an unusual size. They gave me matting advice and sold it to me for cheap, too. THEN I found something amazing. Annie's sells gift wrap by the sheet printed with antique medical illustrations and maps. I can't remember the dimensions -- over 20" x 30". The sheets are only $4 (!!) and each has a single image on it. Annie's sells bar chart clips to go with, so the prints look like they're in a space age classroom. Perfect.
