We used to have so many issues when we would board our dog. He is anxious when we leave him. He used to come home with his ribs showing, would sleep for two straight days, and generally require a vet visit for sickness. Since we have changed to Ann, it is an entirely different experience. I have been using Ann's Pet Service for about 6 years to watch my dog. I travel for a living so having someone reliable and flexible was my top criteria for a pet boarding service. And in the beginning, Ann's was great! But I have recently had to make the decision to look for another service as Ann's has really gone down hill within the past 12 mos. 1) Lately my dog has come home from Ann's smelling foul, like a dirty kennel. I don't even want to touch her. As a result I usually have to book a grooming appointment for her for the next day just so I can have her in the house. 2) They have become a real PITA to deal with. They used to be flexible and adaptable to suit your schedule, but now its all about their schedule. You can now only drop off and pick up if you schedule an "appointment" in advance. And they will only book 4-15 minute appointments per hour! I have literally driven right past Ann's on my way back from a trip and she has refused to let me stop to get my dog. Instead, I have had to go home and then make a separate one hour round trip to go to get my dog at the time of Ann's choosing. 3) To top it off, after scheduling a "pick up appointment", my dog is never ready and waiting for me when I get there. I still have to find one of her minions, tell them the name of my dog, and then wait while they find her and her stuff and finally walk her out to me. Ridiculous. 4) Her prices have risen steeply over the past few years, almost doubling. I don't mind paying top prices for top service, but her service level has declined as steeply as her prices have risen. read more

Whenever I needed pet care whether it be daycare or walking while in Elgin, I always counted on Ann. She's an absolute professional and my dog loves her. Her prices are reasonable and she's always been there for me, even if I needed her on somewhat short notice. Ann not only provides walks,day care, and boarding services, but also training as well. Whenever Kona would spend the day with her he would come home not only exhausted, but usually having learned a new trick and slightly more well behaved. She responded quickly and promptly and requested to arrange a time to meet my pet before our vacation. Ann came to our home a few days before our trip and came supplied with a lot of information about her company, which I really appreciated - it shared all her different services she offers, all the extra care and details (including picking up your mail, making sure the lights were on/off, checking windows and locks, etc.) and also brought some forms for me to fill out about my pet. She thought of everything and it made me feel like we were leaving our cat in good hands. I was impressed by her knowledge about animals as well - she offered great tips to help prevent our cat from overeating. Ann and her team of girls (Liz and Michelle) took care of my cat Layla by visiting everyday, feeding her, scooping her litter, and playing with her, charging $15/daily. I thought that was a great price, especially for her coming into my home and taking care of the cat in her own environment - that's great! Special props to her team for being able to come an extra day due to cancelled flights and bad weather, all last minute! I can't tell you how much we appreciated that! When we got home, Liz had left the keys on the table for us and had documented every day with Layla - how she acted, what they did, what services were offered, how much was owed for the service, etc. The mail was on the table, and everything looked exactly like it did when we had left. We used Ann when we went on our honeymoon and I would definitely use her again. She offers so many services at prices you can't beat! We have a cat so we had her come to our house while we were away to clean up after him and feed him and she even got our mail for us and had it separated by days on the counter waiting for us when we got home! When I first met her I could tell we would be a good fit, you can tell she loves animals and is just overall a loving person! She even offers grooming and obedience training, as well. We take our dog to Ann for boarding, grooming and playdays. He loves going there. We use to take him to a kennel located on the far west side of Elgin but everytime we would go there and he would cry non-stop. But when we get to Ann's he can't wait to get out of the car. We find that Ann, Will and the groomer are very professional. Our dog has suffered from allergies. Ann suggested a number of things to do. One problem he had was bad ear infections. Ann helped clean his ears and suggested what to feed the dog. And to our surprise the dog ear infections have not reoccurred. read more

Ann's Pet Service took care of my kitties while I went on a 12 day vacation in February 15'. This was the first time I had left them alone for an extended period of time and my first experience with a pet sitter. Ann and her staff did an excellent job!!! I like the fact that Ann came to my house to meet me and get acquainted with the cats before we left. Ann was very professional and it was immediately apparent that she was very good with animals. The survey that I filled out about the needs of each cat, plus any additional services that were needed made me immediately feel at ease. I was having problems with my furnace, and she was willing to light the pilot light.. This was a huge relief because I was concerned about coming home to a house with frozen pipes. I went on vacation knowing that my pets and my house were in good hands. After every visit, they sitter wrote me a note describing what took place. I really appreciated this. Even though vacations are fun :), it is very stressful for us to leave our beloved French bulldogs behind while we travel :(. Not only is she conveniently located, reasonably priced, and one of the sweetest people I've ever met, her facility is like a vacation retreat for dogs! She has a clean and beautiful home, kennel area, and outside play area. My dog has been going by Ann's for over 4 years one to twice a week and for every vacation we take. She is ALWAYS very very happy to go there. I think that is the key when you are boarding your dog. Everyone I have recommended to Ann has been very pleased, as they see the same response in their dogs. They drive 25-35 miles to bring their dog there. I needed to find a very last minute sitter for my dog on New Years Eve. Ann's Pet Service was the second business that I called that offered overnight pet sitting in her own home. I was so nervous and scared to leave my 1 year old pup, but she was WONDERFUL and did an amazing job!!! She took such great care of Chance and he was able to play with all of the other dogs she was watching. I would without a doubt use her services again, and may need to this summer.
