If it were human, the Clayton Theatre in Dagsboro would be well past the age for collecting Social Security. But owner Joanne Howe has no plans for the theater to retire anytime soon. The landmark theater celebrated its 75th anniversary. The theater is open seven days a week. The Clayton is rare for being the only single-screen theater in Delaware that consistently shows first-run films. The older people that come love it, because it reminds them of their old theaters. The theater seats 350 people. The Clayton Theatre offers today's moviegoers a rare opportunity to see first-run movies in a charming hometown atmosphere. They offer fresh popcorn, ice-cold sodas, and a vast array of the most popular concession candies. I was amazed that the theater was very nice and not run down. We purchased some popcorn, drinks and snacks. I was here with my family of five including two elementary school children for $56. I was expecting a smaller theater, but was surprised by the size and updated design inside the theater. It was very nice and comfortable. See my pics. Very few people were here Wednesday night for the 7 PM showing of Karate Kid: Legends. I enjoyed the movie and my movie viewing here because the theater was not crowded. I'm torn between rating this a 2 and a 3. I'll start off by saying I danced for about 12 years,…read morestarting as a preschooler up through high school. This was the third studio I danced for in Salisbury, after taking a two years break from dance in middle school. Feet of Fire was relatively new (I believe they were in either their second or third year when I began dancing there). Even in the short amount of time they had been open, I had heard about them and seen them perform, and thought it was some place I'd really enjoy dancing. Since I hadn't danced in two years, I first joined as a recreational student, with the idea to possibly move up into their performance troupe after I got myself back into the swing of things. That's the first con in my opinion: they have a competition team, as well as performance troupe that performs at various events all over the shore. If you're just simply a recreational student with no ties to the performance troupe or competition team, you're just another person who walks in the door a few times a week to take class and pays tuition. That's it, you're really nobody. You have to audition for both teams, and I've heard it's pretty difficult to get in. The dancers are fantastic though, I will give them that. All classes are grouped by age rather than dance experience. This isn't really a good method in my opinion because there may be a mix of very experienced dancers and girls that haven't danced at all, all grouped into one class. The classes are slowed down for the beginners, and as someone with a good deal of experience under my belt, it was a bit frustrating. The class sizes for recreational students is horrendous, especially for the older girls. Anyone over the age of 12 is immediately thrown into the "Teen" class, which can consist of middle schoolers to college age students, and anywhere in between. These classes sometimes push 20+ students, which makes for a cramped dance studio and a slow moving class as others have to catch up while rehearsing. Not sure about the classes for younger kids, but they also have multiple classes for the same age group, so I would imagine they're a bit smaller. So I guess the older girls get the short end of the stick. I was also treated poorly as a student, which is one reason why I left and found another studio after only one year. Most of their dance teachers aren't really qualified; they're just former students who are now teaching classes. To me, that's okay I guess for small children who aren't really "dancing", since classes for preschoolers tend to be more creative movement oriented. But for older students wanting to dance and/or possibly work towards a career, that isn't appropriate. The owner of the studio (and one of the only qualified instructors) works almost exclusively with the performance troupe and competition team members. This studio also offers no form of classical ballet instruction. None whatsoever. I realize not every dancer wants to take classical ballet, I was one of them. But I was forced to take five years of it and I think it really helped me overall in the dance world, since ballet is the basis for basically every style of dance. I think all dancers under the age of 7 should be enrolled in traditional ballet classes, then if they want to branch out into other styles of dance, then at least they have some foundation. I don't know, maybe just my personal opinion. Overall, this studio isn't bad, but it isn't great either. Their performance troupe and competition team are fantastic, but recreational dancing is so-so. If you're looking to become a strong competitive dancer, this is definitely the place for you. If you're just dancing for fun, I'd think about another studio, unless you don't mind being treated like another number. I think they're more focused on the money.

Footsteps is a great environment for both my girls. My younger daughter is on the competition team and loves the creative choreography and fun too! Great staff. I highly recomend Footsteps. On a beautiful sunny Saturday in October we stopped at Layton's Chance to sit back and enjoy some…read morewine. We each had a flight of six (Vintner's flight and Lazy Day flight) both delivering a couple of good options, but we enjoyed the Lazy Day flight more. The grounds are cute. We found some adirondack chairs to sit back and relax. There's a decent amount of outdoor seating but as it gets more crowded it's a good idea to bring your own chair as recommended on their website. There were no events on this day, but Layton's Chance does hold many events throughout the year that appear to be very popular. I noticed some of their upcoming holiday functions are already sold out. After finishing our flights it was on to the much raved about wine slushies. You can get small (12oz) or large (16 oz). It is with good reason the slushies are mentioned a lot in the reviews. Oh my they are delicious!!! The featured flavors on our visit were peach bellini and one made with the Freedom wine. Of course we capped off the visit with some bottles to take home and the mix to make the slushies.

The Autumn Wine festival event is held yearly. This would be our second time going to this event…read more We usually travel to stay overnight and we always go VIP. Once you go VIP you never go back. This year's event was even better than last year as far as the food aspect. They had a lot more food and they threw in an addition. They had massage chairs. Wow they didn't have that last year. The reason I had to take off a star because upon arrival one of the ladies seemed to be disorganized. She first took the stubs which we needed to get our wine glasses. Then she gave us regular bracelets instead of the VIP bracelets which we had to go back to her to change. She didn't have a clue and if you're going to be at check in please have some type of clue as to what you are doing. Sheesh she was trying my patience but we went back to her and she got it together. Other than that we had a great time. They always decorate for fall and they really out did it this time. You receive a gift bag that included three goodies. So last year had more gifts in the bag than this year. They teamed up with the breast cancer awareness this year which was great! I met some nice people and would definitely do this again next year if possible. I do recommend getting there early though VIP is never super crowded and you can grab a table early to sit at. Oh btw they give you a VIP parking sticker as well which is included in the VIP price of $55.00 per person. I guarantee you won't regret it!
