Old college friend of my husband's had his wedding here, great tasting foods like red beans with sausage, chicken and sausage gumbo, pasta, chicken and spinach bake, baked mac and cheese, roast beef sandwiches and fruit. Small venue but they made due ! Beautiful decor and friendly staff. They really put effort into making everyone happy and comfortable. It would be good for holiday parties and small intimate weddings. The liquor selection was of brands I've never heard of. If you're a liquor conisouer make sure you byob or maybe it's cost difference. You may have to pay more for top shelf ?!?!? Overall this was a beautiful place. read more

My niece had her wedding and reception here in December, 2021. I cannot say enough great things about this venue and it's owner, Chad. My niece had a limited budget to work with but you would never know it because the event was lavishly perfect. The building had been decorated for Christmas and the use of decor, candles and table settings, cloths were included. Chad was wonderful and kept everything moving along in a non obtrusive way. He was patient with the children who were running around escaping parental attention. (We wanted them there). The room was beautiful at night, the lighting was perfect, the room so elegant with candles and the antique furniture. Chad also provided the music, which I recommend. No problems whatsoever. We had our wedding reception here almost 2 years ago and Chad was excellent. He knows what he's doing and will offer tons of advice. Even the smallest details won't go unnoticed by him. Pretty much everything surrounding our wedding was a cluster. Pelican dry cleaners broke and dirtied my wedding dress 2 days before the wedding, my husband forgot his socks and Louisiana limo decided to cancel 15 minutes after they should have already picked me up. It was kind of a stressful day. Oh and my son who was 1 at the time was teething and wanted no part of this wedding. Once we got to the antebellum house everything was perfect. The place was beautifully decorated and the way that chad announced the wedding party was great. He definitely stays on top of the event because he wants to make sure that your day/ event is a success. We had an interesting mix of people with Spanish, English and Americans. We picked out some songs we wanted played but he did a fantastic job with the rest. Everyone had a great time and was really impressed with the venue, food and Chad. People thought that we paid at least twice the price. I have zero hesitation in recomending this venue. read more

The Antebellum House was surprisingly beautiful, considering it's only a couple of blocks from the mall. It evokes images of the old south, with the large porch and the plantation feel. The roomy interior is furnished beautifully, with old-style luxury everywhere. The staff is attentive and helpful without being obtrusive. The food was wonderful, some of the best I've ever had at a special event. As a photographer, I see a lot of venues for special events. I have to say this is one of the best in Slidell, or even the entire Northshore area. I highly recommend the Antebellum House for a wedding or other special event. This is southern charm at its finest. read more

We had our daughters Engagement Party here a little over week ago and it was FANTASTIC!! The team Chad has here, is nothing but the BEST. FIRST CLASS all the way. The food was outstanding also. They even made special dishes for us that were not on the menu and all everyone could say was "YUMMO". Nothing but compliments here. What a fabulous place to host any party, of any kind. Thank you all for making our "Special Occasion" that MUCH BETTER!! We didn't "BREAK the BANK" either (although it looked like it... wink wink...) My husband and I had our wedding reception at the Antebellum House on April 30th, and Chad and his staff were simply amazing during the whole process. He knows exactly what he is doing, and did not let even the smallest detail go unnoticed. The week of the wedding itself was extremely hectic, but the only thing I didn't have to worry about was the reception at the Antebellum House. Chad, and his staff, did all the decorating, all I had to do was drop off a few things and a give him a handful of ideas of what I wanted and Chad took it and ran with it. When I went to the Antebellum House for the last time before the wedding I was blown away when I walked through the door. Chad truly went above and beyond to meet my expectations. He did that and then some. The day of the wedding went incredibly smooth. I was surprisingly calm! I knew that everything was in good hands. I knew that Chad had everything under control down to the very last detail and that made my day go by with no worries. When we got to the Antebellum House Chad met us upstairs, and explained to us that he had a first meal set up for us in the brides room, which was fantastic!! The food was great!! Chad did an awesome job as host and DJ! We even threw in a few last minute request and he took it all in stride! Our night couldn't have gone any better. The food was fantastic, the music he picked was perfect, and the staff was amazing! I didn't see a single thing go wrong, and no one had any complaints! We talked to some people who went to the reception and they told us that they had the best time. No one had a single negative thing to say about our reception. We couldn't thank Chad enough for the amazing job he did. Were so glad that we chose to do our reception at the Antebellum House and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this venue to anyone!! read more

I would have put 0 stars but it probably would have been viewed as a competitor just bashing his competition. Now on to the review. From start to finish this guy Chad acted like a very unprofessional child. During the wedding procession he got on his microphone ( his microphone was his best friend all night) and tried to almost pump up the crowd and then shushed them. Later in the reception he walked around and tried to meet all of the guests and ask questions about the whole experience. Next during the couples first dance song, he once again got on his microphone and commented on the song choice. The night would go back and forth between his commentary about songs and him unexplainably turning on the house lights ( very strange). On multiple occasions the groom and family asked him to stop talking so much and allow the bride and groom to enjoy their guests and their wedding night. After being asked to calm down the play by play he would go stand in the corner and sulk like a child. But don't worry he would get over it and go back to talking on the mic again. Flash forward to the fake bride and groom exit ( it was fake for pictures and so the reception could continue with the bride and groom) and a guest commented to Chad that he really talks to much on the microphone..... Boom, world war 3!!! He blew up and acted like a stage performer who had been insulted during a performance. This altercation was then calmed down but not before Chad walked into the hall and turned off the music and turned on the lights. After a conversation with the brides mom, he turned the music back on and got back on his microphone to try to get the remaining crowd back in party mode ( damage was already done). Continue on 5 minutes, Chad sought out the guest who had hurt his ego, and continued to get in his face (the guest is about 5'1 so it was obviously an intimidation technique) and yell at him about how it's his venue and he is the MC. This almost caused a big fight in the middle of the wedding. On top of all of this strange behavior, I personally saw Chad making and drinking full glasses of vodka on the rocks. I have never been to a wedding where a owner/ employee openly drinks and does his/ her best to try to take focus away from the couple and make it about him. All of the best weddings I have been to, the staff does their best to stay out of the way and help the guests have a good time. The rest of Chads staff apparently agrees with me because the rest of the staff was great. They did a great job. HE was the only problem. I just feel bad that a happy day was potentially ruined by a guy thinking that he was bigger than the bride/groom. read more

This is just not appropriate for someone's wedding. I heard many people comment on this throughout the night. It was weird and annoying. It's too bad because the venue was nice. read more

I recently had my wedding reception at The Antebellum House in Slidell. The party was fantastic. The food and drinks were fantastic as well. My personal attendant was on point. My husband and I haven't received a single complaint about anything from that night. And to be honest, we can't complain about the party either. However, what I will be honest about is how SHADY the owner is when it comes to the contract terms, money, and giving you 100% everything he tells you he will.... because he WON'T. We decided to use his table linens, sashes for bows on the chairs, and runners on the tables, which he said were 100% included. They were not. He continuously asked my mother in law and florist for money ($50) to iron HIS OWN sashes. When they didn't give it to him, he put it on my dad's final bill at the end of the night. He never once mentioned this fee to me and aside from that, definitely should not have been asking anyone else for additional money. We paid a substantial amount as it was for the reception, and even had LESS than the original head count show up, so he made up for it anyway! Also, when I originally signed the contract, he told me that 30 days before the event I was to give him a final head count and if it was less than what I originally told him (1 year before the event when we first met), that it was no big deal, we would just go by that number. He never once mentioned that the cost per head would change. Low and behold, when I gave him a lower head count, the cost per head changed and I had to agree to it being we were 30 days out and it was too late to back out of the contract. He attempted to charge me $100 for a second bartender in a side room the week of my wedding, which he didn't tell me was no longer included when I signed the amended contract. We were able to come to a compromise on that that the side room would be for bridal party only and we would stock our own bar. That charge never showed up. Finally, when it came to the end of the night and it was time for our big sparkler exit, didn't happen! I was trying myself to get everyone outside, and his way of trying to get everyone outside was to flicker the light (as opposed to making an announcement that it was time for the exit). He also told me that the sparklers I had wouldn't last long enough anyway so it was really pointless to even try. So needless to say, I hugged a few people goodbye and my husband and I just left, not big final goodbye from our crowd or anything. So.... would I recommend this venue to another bride to be? Sure.... but get everything that is said and agreed to (no matter how insignificant it may seem) in writing. Be sure to have at least one person with you every time you visit the venue as a witness to anything that is said. read more
