    Margherita pizza, lasagna, and bruschetta.

It was our first restaurant in Rome and it set high expectations of the rest of our trip. We showed up very late after a long trip and Alex and Mike let us order food. The food was delicious, and the olives and cheese appetizer is such a treat.

The food here was textbook. I'd eat here every week if I could. The heavenly, thick, emulsified sauces just clung to our pasta, and the fresh ingredients - tomatoes, pesto, and guanciale - set everything off. That said, we did need to add parm to one of our dishes (the tornarelli) to get the salt level right. My rigatoni carbonara was a special, which came with the waiter's recommendation. I cannot believe how much guanciale flavor it packed. To my taste, the actual lardons weren't needed to bring over the top. That's how good it was. I also loved the focaccia. It wasn't complimentary - we assumed it was when the offer was made by our retreating waiter - but boy, was it hot and fresh.

The place was pretty packed. After I walked in, a female looked for a table for me and my guest. She found a table and went back to tell me. When we were brought to the back, the employee said that a co-worker accidentally sat another set of patrons. My guest and I ended up having to wait for a different table. When we got to an outside table, the ambience was cute. I looked at the specials menu and wanted to try the black truffle carbonara I had seen pictures online of. What arrived looked like just a regular carbonara w/ bacon. The table next to me ordered the same. I didn't see any black truffle shavings at all. My receipt showed the charge for the black truffle carbonara though. I didn't know what happened. I didn't bother pointing out the error to the waiter because I had just wanted to get out of there (at the table next to us, someone was smoking).

This lovely restaurant is very close to the Spanish Steps and looked inviting so we stepped in. We were full of jet lag and needed a nice meal. The wait staff is very friendly and we ordered Caprese plate and a Caesar salad. They were both delicious especially the Caesar salad. Of course the bread was outstanding too. We sat outside on the quaint sidewalk and enjoyed our fresh salads. I recommend this restaurant for a nice evening meal and outside there are tons of Gelato shops for dessert.

Normally all restaurants are to be avoided in the Tourist Triangle around the Spanish Steps. This is one of the exceptions... it is a truly beautiful bar that could be dropped into any Metropolitan city in the world and fit right in. It's almost like a high-end version of a sports bar with a simple menu, featuring all the classics... full bar and beer and wine with TVs always showing some type of sporting event. It's open late, including the kitchen which is open at least until midnight daily. The food is better than most "bar food" but it's the bar here that really is the draw. I also want to point out the service experienced at the bar was world class... everyone wanted to give five star customer service even in a casual environment.

    Cheers...!

This long time favorite of mine never goes out of style...! Even though it is smack in the middle of tourist traps, you won't be ripped off here. Great location (piazza di Spagna), nice nibbles & cool atmosphere. Especially hip for aperitivo or lunch on a Saturday. And yes, we locals hang out here too

I came across this lovely little bar on my first day in Rome and I enjoyed it's vibe so much that I came back here on my last day too. The first stop was just for a large glass of vino, while the second stop saw me try a plate of polenta, which was just deliciously scrummy. The interior decorations are eye catching and the service was smooth as silk. If you're in need of refuelling while near the Spanish Steps, you would do well to pop in here.

Cured meats being freshly sliced - fun to match plates get prepared at the bar

Wonderful cozy bar. Great beer on draft served with olives and little hunks of cheese. Our server, Marco, was charming and attentive.

Service (or lack there of) is lackluster along with sloppy menu and boring dishes. All that needs to be said but I need to continue.

We ordered sea bass fillet rolled in zucchini and honey mushrooms. Fish was tender, soft, and delicious with great seasoning. We also ordered Ravioli with white truffles and it was delicious as well. Ravioli tasted like it was freshly made and it tasted great with truffles. Lastly, we got tiramisu for dessert. This tiramisu was prepared by an artist. Just by looking at the dish, it was very pretty to look at. It was presented on a beautiful plate with thin chocolate cookie on top with sugar decoration and underneath was a creamy white tiramisu. I loved this dish because it was unique dessert with great sweet flavor and great presentation. The service was excellent. Everyone was friendly with great attitude and they are attentive. I think they liked the look on my face every time they brought out the dishes because their presentation was great. Whoever was the Chef that night, I would give him or her an award. This restaurant was unique just like Rome. Highly recommended!

We opted for the Roman-style cuisine tasting menu with wine pairings. The service was warm and welcoming, and the ambiance was quiet and romantic. I appreciated the decor, especially the various wine bottles displayed throughout, and I also liked the dishes the food was served on. That said, this restaurant leaned a little too "foodie" for my taste. I also discovered that I really dislike truffles! My husband, on the other hand, enjoyed everything--including my leftovers. The wines were fantastic across the board. I also want to mention the pricing was shockingly affordable for what we got at dinner, which again, included the wine pairing. If you consider yourself a foodie and enjoy creative, thoughtfully prepared dishes, Ristorante Ad Hoc is worth a visit.

This place was so incredible, we went TWICE during our 3 day stay in Rome!…read more We had tried the other "super famous" Italian sandwich spot earlier in our trip and it did NOT deliver. Pane e Salame, however, was delicious!!!! On our first day in Rome, my husband and I decided to search for a lunch spot nearby (we were staying near the Trevi fountain), and I found this place had pretty good reviews. We got there about an hour after it opened and requested a seat outdoors. They have a tiny patio across from their entrance, but they fit quite a bit of people in it! We initially wanted to order two sandwiches to try more items, but I'm glad we just shared one - they were big and filling! We also had the small charcuterie board to share which was plenty of food for us both. We shared a bottle of rose, and all in all, we paid under $50 (usd) - what a steal! This was the perfect first meal in Rome. The food was incredibly fresh, the service was great, and the outdoor seating allowed us to experience the streets of Rome. 10/10 - would absolutely go back.

Our sandwiches were cut in half and one half was big enough to make the average person full. We got five sandwiches for only about €30! The place was not a tourist trap, but i have to say, the seats at the booth were uncomfortable to me, and the place was a bit small. Sorry i do not have photos. But overall, I would recommend to go here.
