Service (or lack there of) is lackluster along with sloppy menu and boring dishes. All that needs to be said but I need to continue.

It being our first night in Rome, and we were on 26 hours of no sleep, we wanted something close by. Our B&B we are staying in is one block from this restaurant. All the tables outside were full so we decided to stop in. Glad we did! Great place to have dinner or just while away time with a glass of wine. We come to Rome every year or so and usually end up here for dinner or drinks a couple of times each trip. They have a great wine selection by the glass, a selection of sharing platters as well as a good dinner menu. English is spoken and the service is friendly, casual and competent. read more

Food: My friends and I ordered 4 veal steaks, 1 carbonara, 1 roman pork, 1 calamari and 1 fungi pizza. Let me first say that my friends carbonara was tasteless. Who messes up carbonara? My friend says the taste was "nothing". To me it tasted like cream and pepper. Or worse. My friends 14 euro veal steak was as big as an IPhone 6+, which really isn't big at all. Dry and tasting like pepper, all you have is a slice of lemon to bears down the sad steak. My roman pork was just 8-10 thin slices of roast pork for 10 euros. It was good. Not bad. Underwhelming though. Pizza was just Okay, nothing special for 8 euros. The funniest dish was the calamari for 12 euros. They were as small as tiny onion rings for 12 pcs. Sad. One euro per ring. The bruschetta we had for antipasta was average. Not great, but definitely not bad. After this course we had the ravioli and lemon cream fettuccini. The fettuccini was the BEST you will have, and the ravioli was very good as well. Wine was good, I mean it is Italy. For second course, the meal went down hill slightly. Don't eat here! The inside seems a bit dark and dirty. Only decided on this spot because they had some selections of salads. Bad idea! A huge flying ant-like creature flew outta my salad upon arrival. When I told one of the server's he said it was an olive- haha! Look again buddy. We stumbled upon this place twice, the second time everything was closed up due to rain but be enjoyed it so much the first time we stayed for a second. We had done some research through several sites and were looking forward to it, after being turned down due to a lack of reservations we persisted and they were able to fit us in... We were not disappointed the wait staff was very nice and the wine list was outstanding... Best part were the prices ... This place is recommended by Rick Steves, but he obviously has not been by in 2015, and like many of his recommendations it has morphed into something more tourist oriented. You can tell from the other reviews that the menu used to be more interesting, more local, and less expensive in a place with a lot of ambience. Now they serve "Italian" dishes normally not found in Italy for much higher prices with the ambience missing because everyone is a tourist... Disappointing. read more

Came in for a quick drink. Stayed for 3. Bartenders Paolo and Constantine were amazing and fun. I trusted them with making me a spritz with a twist since I wasnt a huge fan of the normal version and they hit it out of the park. Vodka aperol spritz. This was our go-to solid cheap eatery. We've eaten here every time we visit Rome and never been disappointed. The pizza is pretty amazing and their antipasta's are top notch. Additionally, they have a solid wine list by the glass and bottle (where else can you get a Barolo by the glass that doesn't kill your wallet??) The kitchen is open later here than most so late night munchies can be fed here too. read more

Popular, but cheap plastic chairs. Had the rigatoni carbonara and gnocchi, with house wine. Food was good and the service was acceptable. There are lots of restaurants in the area to choose from, they are all pretty good. We liked this one because they also have tables sent in a small street off the "main" street. read more

The ideal place to eat and drink as a tourist but by no means a tourist trap. My wife and I ate here twice on our trip to Italy last year during the holidays/ New Year. Frequented by plenty of locals, The food was great and the wine selection is excellent. You can sample all kinds of Italian wines with or without a meal and purchase bottles to go at regular wine shop prices. One of our favorites was a Cesanese Del Piglio Superior DOCG by Casale Della Ioria, one of the few Lazio region wines. Not only could we not find it anywhere else in Italy, we couldn't even find it anywhere else in Rome! Needless to say, we took three bottles for the road :) read more

Nice restaurant that a friend had recommended...and happened to be feet from our hotel. They had tables outside and the weather was perfect last night so we dined al fresco. Had the prosciutto and fresh moz crostini which was great. The prosciutto was shaved so thin it was tranlucent. For dinner, my husband got a pizza and I had a zucchini stuffed ravioli in a blush sauce. The pizza had the thinnest crust on a pizza I've ever had, and the ravioli were delicious. It was fun to compare this ancient place to the Cavour. Very different vibe. This is an old, historic place and it feels like it. Dusty, rustic, wine barrels...almost a cliche of an Italian enoteca, but this is quite real. As others noted, it is not a tourist trap. My friend and I were the only non Romans here, and we were given a very nice table near a large and boisterous group of Roman friends having what appeared to be the time of their lives. While tempted to ask our burly gruff waiter "I'll have what their having," we bombarded him with wine questions until he sent over the younger hipster dude who helped us out. We ended up with a fantastic barolo that was almost obscenely under-priced (this ever happens in the states...ever). I had a basic but very nice salad and a seafood dish...cod I think, that was simple and rustic and just perfect in that Roman way. If there was any touristy kitsch going on, I didn't notice it. read more

Come here every.time we are in Rome. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and good food all at a great price. It never disappoints.

We were walking down the street somewhat lost and looking for beer and wifi. A man outside asked us to come inside, we told him what we were looking for and he told us to take a seat. We ordered a beer, the waiter asked where we were from, and we told him the united states. He grumbled "states" and immediately walked away and never came back to our table. We would have ordered food and wine, but he was so rude it turned us off to the place. The same waiter went to the bathroom and did not wash his hands. Definitely not american friendly, and 4 euros for a small bottle of light beer. Will not be returning. read more

Had a great experience! Eleanor was fantastic, our food was great, and the ambiance was wonderful. Would highly recommend. I had the linguine with bacon and such, and someone we were with had the crepes. They don't serve wine in a litre or 1/2 litre, so the wine is a bit more expensive. This restaurant has the most comfortable sidewalk chairs we have seen. we ate at a half dozen sidewalk restaurants and the chairs were uniformly uncomfortable. The food and service were good and my wife loved the espresso. read more

We are staying in an apartment near the Piazza Espagna. Tonight we went down the street to eat a light dinner at Antica Enoteca. We had eaten there last spring and thought it was okay. We sat quite a while reviewing the menu during which time the table behind us, which was seated after us, was taken care of promptly. They had a different server. When our server finally came, we ordered two antipasti and one of the daily specials which was Zuppa de Verdure (basically vegetable soup). When the antipasti arrived the server forgot to bring oil and vinegar. We waited again. We couldn't catch the eye of the manager or the server. Eventually we did and happily ate our first dish. Forty-five minutes later we still hadn't been served the soup. Soup! If we had ordered an entre that had to be made when ordered, I would have understood. But not soup. Again we tried read more

DO NOT EAT HERE!!! We ate here last night mostly because it was recommended by Rick Steves and we usually agree with his picks. This was the worst food and experience. The waiter was outside smoking when we were waiting to order. We sat outside and were the first diners. We ordered wine and a bruschetta to share. We ordered one and the waiter brought 2. The salads came and one was just arugula and some unappetizing non ripe tomatoes. The other came as chopped red cabbage with a few walnuts and a few slices of hard tasteless pear. The waiter brought a basket with olive oil and an almost empty Bottle of balsamic vinegar which he soon took away to another table. Each salad was from $10-12 and not worth it! The worst part was the sea bass. My friend and I split it putting half on her plate. She took one bite a said it was spoiled so I tried it and it tasted rotten. We asked The waiter to take it back but He and the "owner " said we had eaten some of it already. We argued and paid The bill but refused to pay for the spoiled fish. They both chased us down the street demanding we pay for the fish and blocked our path from moving! It was horrible and like nothing I've experienced in my 40 years of traveling all over the world!! I liked this place. They have very good and different pizza toppings here (potato on a pizza, so good). The pizza is ready to go and they cut as much as you want and is sold by weight. You point, you show how big, they weight it, you eat it and it is good and different from every pizza place the you have ever been. Is good after you go up and down the Spainish steps, which are nearby. Some people may complain about the prices, but remember this is an expensive area of town.
