Lampredotto is the staple food of florence. Order it!
    Fanglin C.

Florence just has the best streetfood! For 4.5 euro, you get a lampredotto. This foodstand is heaven for meat lovers..

Very similar to Italian beef from Chicago this sandwich is awesome!

Solid food truck in the middle of nowhere. Showed up 2 min before closing and the owner fixed me right up. Recommend

Very good lampredotto! A small street stand but the owner says he has been here 29 years.

November 9, 2024 2:30PM…read more It does appear they have two stalls on the same street that you can order from. One side seemed to have more alcohol on display and the side I was on was more sandwich focused, but I'm pretty sure you can order the same things from both windows. Initially I was going to get the 21 - Fresh Sausage and Eggplant because I'm an eggplant lover... the lady at the counter was kind enough to let me know that the fresh sausage is actually rare, uncooked sausage and gave me a small piece to try. I was getting ready to get on a train that day and didn't want something that might not sit well with me, so I moved on to number 27 spicy salami and cream cheese. My partner got the number 1, ham, cream cheese and rocket salad. Both are very good sized and oh so delicious. The line moved quickly, so many options for decision paralysis. This is the place for schiacciate Florentine as recommended from friends who used to live here. Definitely would recommend to study up their menu before coming so it's easier to pick what you want. This is more of a stall and you grab and go, we stood around the sidewalk and inhaled our sandwiches. Watch out for the pigeons getting ready to take your crumbs too, you can see them on the ledge of the building getting ready to attack. A must visit for Florence.

I am an Asian female. ***updated 2025 post- I showed the owner and pointed at my boyfriend who was in line multiple times that we were purchasing food. *** updated 2023 post - Apparently my post was blocked because the owner of the store tried to cover my true experience. Racist owner randomly took my table and chair while I was eating on it to give to a Caucasian European couple. l'm an Asian female by the way. I showed him that my boyfriend was waiting in line to purchase food and constantly assured him we were using them and that we were buying food. He still took my table and chair and said I'll give you another one- to which it down graded to eating off 3 short chairs. I told the European couple that it wasn't fair that the server took our table to give to them and they just smiled and dismissed me. Racism at its finest. Their sandwich is not good. Actually the sandwich shop across the street I' Grone De Ghiotti is way better with service and sandwich taste. Sadly I don't think this post will change the attitude of the owner.

It would be the third sandwich spot on our trip, and we had been to a couple of bangers beforehand that set the bar. I was a bit worried that we were getting lured into a tourist trap because of the restaurant being by the duomo, but it was located behind it where there was much less foot traffic compared to the front facing Piazza Santa Maria Novella. We arrived around noon on a Sunday. My husband and I arrived early enough to beat the lunch crowd, so we had no wait at all. By the time we finished our sandwiches, we saw the queue out the door. There were a couple of high tables inside the restaurant, but there was more seating outdoor. I really liked how you can customize your sandwich the way you wanted down to the bread, meats, cheeses, and toppings. They didn't only have schiaccata bread, which I thought was cool. You had other options of breads like ciabatta. Panini Toscani allows you to sample their various meats, such as porchetta, proscuitto, mortadella, etc. As someone who doesn't eat pork, one of the employees had me sample their various cheeses instead. Since I've been eating schiaccati the past 2 days, I stuck to the same bread as a baseline and added soft cheese, arugula, spicy marinara, eggplant, and sundried tomatoes. I enjoyed my sandwich very much, and the crunch on the bread was everything.

Panini Toscani sits right near the Duomo, making it one of the most conveniently located (and…read morepopular) quick bites in Florence. The exterior is small and charming, with a line spilling out the door, while the interior is cozy and bustling with limited seating. The vibe is lively, welcoming, and very interactive, with opportunities to taste their various meats and cheeses. There's Italian and English menus to peruse before you create your customizable sandwich; the amount of options is almost overwhelming, though sampling can help alleviate this "problem." We arrived at around noon on a Wednesday, and waited around fifteen minutes; the line moves fast, despite being out the door! You select from a variety of breads, meats, cheeses, and four additional toppings; they will then lightly toast your sandwich, and you pay at the front counter. I opted for their Ciabatta Toscana with Porchetta (roast pork), Stracciatella (a shredded creamy cheese similar to burrata), rucola (arugula), pepperoni sotto aceto (peppers in vinegar), pepperoni grigliati (grilled peppers), and melanzane (eggplant). My panini was a wonderful blend of textures and flavors; the bread had a crisp exterior and a pillowy-soft interior, the roast pork was succulent and well-seasoned with an herby crust, the straciatella added a creamy richness, and the various vegetables packed an acidic punch. The sandwich was also quite a generous portion, leaving me full for hours. In terms of price point, I believe I ended up paying around €12, which was quite affordable, especially given the central location, interactive experience, and generous portions: excellent value for a high-quality quick meal.
