This store sets right across from City Hall in a former residence that has been repurposed as a business and may be easily missed! Many vendors sell their hand crafted items in this shop. In fact they also do classes on Saturdays in their "Maker Space". I was inspired to visit on this snowy day in November. I browsed for gifts and enjoyed a conversation with an owner. I love that this shop is bridging the gap between business districts. They are bringing the best of downtown to the "Seventh Street district", (some of my favorite shops and businesses...JW's, Tenden, Bekins, Guitar Haven, Krizan's Citgo) Opening this business, in my opinion, is a gutsy move during this pandemic. I tip my hat and wish them well. I will be back and encourage you to visit this shop, attend a Saturday class, and browse for gifts. Their website has class schedules and vendor applications. Down to Earth has been a favorite store in Grand Haven. I stopped in today to look around and was…read moremet by a wonderful sales associate. I found (3) items to try on and she placed them in the dressing room. She took time to check back in to see if there was anything I needed and was very helpful. Checking out with the owner was another experience. She rang up a necklace and the looked at the price tag on the jacket, I had hoped to purchase. She looked at me and said the wrong price was on the jacket. "Obviously someone has put a different price tag on this coat", With that, she ripped the price tag off and looked at me as if I had replaced the tag. I told her I did not that that was the tag that was on the coat. The tag did not look like it had been tampered with, and I was not sure where she was going with her acquisition. There were a number of other customers standing around the check out counter. I was embarrassed with the way she handled this. . Needless to say, I did not purchase the jacket. She may have had a bad day. I hope she treats her other customers better than she did today.

I always thought it was super high end and expensive for some reason. We decided to just browse one Saturday morning and we ended up having a great experience! There is metered street parking in the front of the store, but there's also a large free parking lot behind the building. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and asked if we had been in before. When we said no, the friendly employee gave us the lay of the land and told us there are three floors to the store and that it's much bigger than it seems from the outside. Totally true! I always thought this store was small, but it's really huge. We started browsing through all the setups and were immediately impressed by the styling of each area and all the different items. They have all kinds of furniture, decorations, and rugs. Prices were clearly marked which I appreciated since it shows they're not trying to hide anything. I was pleasantly surprised that I found quite a few things that would fit into our budget, along with higher-end, more expensive pieces. They also have a clearance section which we looked through. The pieces I saw mostly swayed more modern and a little less traditional, which is more my style anyway. Upstairs we found a coffee table that was a major upgrade from our current table, but still in our budget and actually quite affordable. It has a metal base and a glass/ceramic top that looks and feels like marble. Super sleek and sophisticated! Christine was upstairs and asked if we needed any help. We asked her about the process for purchasing as we wouldn't be able to fit the table into our car. She told us that we could pay for it and come back with a larger vehicle, or we could pay $60 for local delivery. SOLD! I am all about that convenience and for $60 they can pack and carry the pretty heavy table. We paid for our purchase and Christine was super awesome with the whole process. I am so glad we finally stopped in to Stonesthrow and I can't wait to go back! She did say that they also do special orders if you know something you want and they are able to get it in store. Highly recommend looking here instead of Wayfair etc. for a local option. They also provide interior design services!

I went happily into this store to buy a birthday gift for a sweet 5 year old girl. I got excited…read moreover the selection of many of her favorite things. As I talked to the clerk about how cute things were and how hard it was to decide, she snubbed me and grabbed the items and started ringing them up. I told her I was still deciding and to help the next person. Once I decided, she rang up my items. I asked if she could gift wrap and she snapped that there was no gift wrapping during the sidewalk sale. I said ok, but could I have a piece of the ribbon they usually use? Once again snapped, " no, we aren't doing any of that!" Another clerk came in and the first one was busy with another customer. I asked second clerk if it was be possible to get a box so that I could wrap my gift myself. The first clerk yelled across the counter and said I already told you we aren't doing any of that. Maybe she was annoyed by me, but I nicely asked and I believe I was kind to her. I told her she could try to be nicer. Once again, she rudely snapped , "I was nice!" My happy mood when I walked in disolved immediately. Maybe a sign should've been posted that during the sidewalk sale they won't give boxes or a gift wrap and the gift wrap could be put away in the back. With today's online ordering trend, I would think that the store would want to be especially nice to its customers. I understand it's very hard to run a small business in this day and age. I will likely take my business elsewhere.

Very helpful and considerate of my budget. She also helped me pick a color for my lawn chair, as well as find me a paint that worked well outside. Helped me order what i needed as well and very efficient. I do not remember her name but younger had lots of colors and very chatty. Will definitely be coming by again.
