Had veterans bronze grave plaques for sale. These are plaques that are placed at veterans graves to indicate their service to our country. These plaques are stolen from the graves and should not be sold. They should contact the VFW or American Legion so the plaques can be placed on the graves. Selling the plaques gives a market to the thieves. The owners should never sell plaques that honor our past heroes. read more

Wandered in here one day. The staff was okay; on guy was all business and the other was more friendly. They have a ton of cool stuff. It took me about 30-45 minutes to look at everything. They buy it from estate sales etc so the prices are probably inflated. I would do my research on the value of a product and negotiate before buying. read more

I'm a college student home due to the coronavirus pandemic. I noticed that this store had a pretty solid stock of vintage furniture and other miscellany. I collect torchiere lamps and, while I was out with a friend, saw a couple of items that caught my eye. Unfortunately, they were pretty overpriced, so I left -- but not before poking around a couple places near the right side of the store to see if they had a public bathroom. The owner curtly told me to go away. Ok, whatever. As I'm leaving I notice he's taking a photo of my license plate. Curious to see whether my instincts were correct, I pulled over and walked inside, and sort of unsurprisingly saw him cropping a picture of my car. I'll probably end up on Nextdoor or something. I asked him what business he had being suspicious. He was belligerent and talked over me for a solid 20 seconds, repeating that it was public property that he could do whatever he wanted. I'm kind of surprised people like that still exist, but in the strictest sense he's not wrong. I guess my poking around could have been mistaken for casing the place. Still, it was not handled properly by any stretch of the imagination, left a bad taste in my mouth, and their pretty hilarious inability to discern what constitutes actual suspicious behavior should serve as a warning to those who are considering taking their business here. read more

I have been in this store so many times recently. First off they are open! Sundays weekdays etc unlike so many other places. I was on a quest last night and a lady was helping but couldn't find what I wanted. She suggested I ask the owner and he had something that just came in and I bought. I'm a huge fan of the store. It remains one of the few places in the bay area that offers a variety of Antiques. There are 100 year old antiques and some fun and stylish Mid-Century furnishings as well. The dealers are always in there cleaning their booths and restocking the merchandise. They've good fairly good antiques from large items like furniture, to jewelry, to little knick-knacks that are fun to peruse. The only thing I felt about this place was that the prices were really expensive. So if you're window-shopping, then this is a great place to visit, but if you're looking to buy, you'll definitely have to negotiate prices. They're way pricier than normal antique stores. read more

After a terrible experience a couple of doors down from them at another antique store we walked in and were impressed! My wife purchased several old bibles, some Hummel's and an Antique quilt chest. Greg was great and wrapped the chest up for our trip back to Las Vegas. I walked out about $500 lighter but felt good with our purchases. I just called to ask about moving an antique table and they were very helpful giving me names of a few moving companies. However I have been there before, it is a very interesting place to see and find all sorts of antiques. Friendly staff that doesn't bother you while you're looking around but can answer any questions as needed. In general pricey and we didn't think we were going to buy anything. However we found in a corner an Art Nouveau bridge arm floor lamp with its original shade. It was only for a little more than what other antique stores were charging for defective ones. Overall the store's inventory feels curated and authentic. read more

I came here to bring an old antique bag and find some information on the item. He told me the bag was not a rare bag and that they had made a lot of them in the 1920s. He said he couldn't really sell my item for a lot because it was a common item but he could give me a $100. I told him I looked up a few bags of almost the same variety and they were selling for $400-$500. He than explained that those were a different material and were jeweled so they were worth more. I believed him because he was an expert and seemed to be truthful about the information he was providing me. I sold him the item and came back a few weeks later to show him some antique marble candle stick holders I than turn to see the bag I had sold him in a glass case with the price of $1400 after he had explained to me that he would not be able to sell the bag for more than two hundred dollars more than what he had paid me for it. I was discussed to find out that this little old man had conjured me out of a beautiful antique bag for only $100, was selling it for $1300 more after he had lied to me about the real worth of my item. Do Not come to this place to try and find any information or knowledge about anything that is antique they will down play the real worth of your item and try and trick you into selling it to them for almost next to nothing of its real worth. These people are crooked liars and I recommend to everyone not to come to this antique store. You Will Get Robbed !!!! read more

I had a terrible experience at Antiques Unlimited, and I do not recommend the business. I was interested in over a dozen items sold by a vender in the store, and the vender and I came to an agreement on a fair price for the lot that explicitly included sales tax and all fees. I went into the store to pay for and retrieve the items, and there were three people standing around the register. One of them, the owner, assisted me. As I stood with the cash in my hand and the merchandise on the counter, the owner attempted to renegotiate the deal and raise the price, claiming that the vender had told him a different price than our actual agreement. When I asked him if he would contact the vender to verify the price (she was not in the store that day), he became obviously irritated. He asked me to write down my contact information, and what happened next shocked me. He took the notepad with my contact info and threw it at the staircase/ground behind him and bluntly said, "I'll call you." I was offended that he first attempted to raise the price and then lashed out because I wanted to honor the original deal and requested the vender's assistance. In a calm manner, I told him to forget about the transaction because I felt like he was becoming irritated with me for no reason and that I didn't wish to do business with him if he was going to treat me that way. Instead of apologizing or trying to smooth things over, he proceeded to accuse me of purposefully "going behind his back" to negotiate a deal with the vender (a final price that the vender actually offered me) and that I was being "unreasonable" not paying the higher price that he demanded. He then declared that he was the owner, and to that I told him he above all people in the store should not be treating a customer with such disrespect. I told him that arguing with and disrespecting a customer wasn't a good way to do business and that I was not going to return or recommend his business. As I walked toward the exit, he yelled at me, "Thank you for never coming back," like he couldn't stand not having the last word. While I am shocked at the owner's unprofessional behavior in general, I am troubled even more by the fact that he destroyed an innocent vender's sale. I would have gladly returned to complete the transaction once the vender verified the actual price if the owner had let the notepad rest on the counter where it was and treated me fairly, but he instead decided to take out his frustration on me, a paying customer, and doing all of this in front of two other people (venders or customers, I don't know). I'll shop elsewhere. read more

I have been to this store a handful of times and each time I have left with such an ILL FEELING- not because of my purchases (Yes I have purchased from them) but because of the treatment, or lack there of. The male staff especially are dry, snobbish & in need of an in-service in customer service 101: 1st: 1. Don't pop up behind me when I'm at the back of the store and offer to help me when I walked right by you when I entered- Now if I walked in with a huge bag, or coat, or with a group of thugs and a big black van outside- I would understand but this sort of "stalking" is annoying to a paying customer- who now instead of peacefully perusing is starting to feel uncomfortable wondering "Do these people think I am going to actually steal something from them?" 2nd: FYI- most antique buyers love to peruse and will do so at there leisure for quite some time- its part of the pleasure of shopping and does not mean a person is stealing- NEVER have I gotten vibe from other local antiques shops & I have been buying for YEARS- This places only saving grace is that they do have nice quality antique furniture priced accordingly. 3rd: Caustic manager-take lesson from the old mom and pop shops of yesteryear who made new customers feel as welcomed as the regulars. Don't judge or profile a customers....... Smile, say thank you, say come again, say have a nice day, give your customer some respect when they give you business. I never leave this place with a smile & considering that I do quite the bit of shopping, this alone has turned me off to even considering a return to this establishment: I mean you have nice things but the prices are up there, there are never any great deals, and the service is unacceptable to me especially from the middle aged dark haired man up front ( I excluding some of the lovely older ladies that actually manage to smile amiss the gloom of this place). High quality items and neatly organized and not overwhelmingly packed with "junk" as with so many other antique stores. My wife's mother used to have a spot here before she died. That's how I know that they are very diligent about making sure that everything is old enough to really be in an antiques store, and that the condition is the best possible. That means that their stuff isn't cheap. But if you want quality, you pay for it. I love the selection and am flabbergasted as to where they find some of it. I'm glad that I live in San Jose and not San Carlos, otherwise I'd probably go broke or run out of room in my house with everything they have. read more

This store seems to have a decent amount of actual antiques rather than the "collectible" junk you find in a lot of antique stores. Most booths were pretty expensive but I was able to find a few sellers that had reasonably priced items. It was also nice to be able to shop without being followed around the store-I hate that! While reading Yelp reviews, a fellow mentioned "too much furniture for my taste". I knew I had to visit Antiques Unlimited. As soon as I stepped inside, I was glad I did. Looking for vintage furniture is a daunting task in the area and there are two antique furniture shops on the same street on El Camino Real. We had many beautiful pieces to choose from at Antiques Unlimited. We were looking for end tables, kitchen tables, and bedside tables. The staff were all helpful and could accommodate us as we didn't have a large enough vehicle to take the little walnut Victorian chest of drawers home with us that we purchased. Can't wait to see the other shop a few doors down when we go back with the truck. A great area to shop for antique furniture!!! So exciting!!! read more

I love this place, and have been buying furniture here for over 8 years. As a matter of fact, there is not one room in my house without 2 pieces or more from Antiques unlimited! As for the middle aged dark hair man in the front (his name is Greg by the way), he has become a good friend over time, is always welcoming with a smile, and will find pieces for me on request, so my experience is completely the opposite from maddie s. Nice selection, but... they refuse to get you in contact with their vendors. Tried to leave my name and number for a vendor: "Oh no, WE don't do that" OK.... so I tried to leave an offer on an item and got refused on that one too "We don't do that kind of thing" . What??? I told them that I just came from the place on Industrial; they contacted the vendor twice on my behalf and I bought the piece; these folks just plainly refused to do so. Guess customer happiness and loyalty is not all that important to them. Maybe that could be the reason why I was the only customer ?? read more

It is so hard to find a true antique store anymore. Antiques Unlimited has great merchandise in wonderful condition. The diversity of periods and variety is fantastic. Where else can you find 19th century furniture, vintage police boxes, year-round christmas, and art glass in one store! I never fail to find some wonderful treasure. The owner makes sure everything is in excellent condition and is so helpful with deliveries. There are always knowledgeable dealers on site who are really willing to help! Folks are really friendly and not standoffish, not like other reviewer's experience. Treat yourself to a good browse next time you are in San Carlos. read more

My husband and I really enjoyed this place. Beautiful vintage furniture in GREAT condition, and I couldn't find a reproduction piece anywhere in the store - so common now. I personally appreciated the fact that things weren't so jammed in there that you couldn't walk without bumping into stuff - I hate stores like that. They had a nice range of pieces from the 1800's, Art Deco, and mid century. Yes the pieces are a bit on the higher side but not any more so than the good antique stores that used to be in Los Gatos, ones that don't look like thrift or junk stores. I collect ephemera, advertising, cards, postcards, etcetera. I spend hours looking through stacks in stores. I would have to say that the vintage paper they had was in excellent condition! No smell, wrinkles, foxing, and rarely a dog ear. I was really impressed. It's an hour drive for me, but i'd go back again. The only downside for me was the parking. I inherited some antique silverware from my grandmother. It hadn't been used for a while and needed a thorough cleaning. I brought it to Antiques Unlimited hoping they could tell me the best way to clean it. They said that if I brought the silverware in to the store they'd show me in person. I brought it in and we cleaned some pieces together. They also studied the marks on it and helped me figure out who the manufacturer was and the country of origin. And all this for free. Very cool. Plus much of their inventory is lovely and not outrageously priced. read more

Some lovely merchandise, but the elderly manager (Richard) has little idea of the concept of "customer service." He was involved in a lengthly conversation with another man. I was referred to him by the woman who was also working there with a question she apparently was either unable or not allowed to answer. I waited patiently, and, when his conversation seemed unending, I excused myself and asked the fellow the question. He became impatient, truculent, and abrasive, perhaps upset that he was being interrupted. He then actually stood over me while I was deciding how many of 5 items I was considering purchasing, citing "frequent theft" as his reason. I ended up not buying any of the items rather than deal with this un-gentleman. I have been a customer at this store since 1991, but I will not be returning. Too bad the dealers have to suffer this type of service in a high end antiques store for which they pay substantial space rent. read more

The place carries a really decent amount of true antiques - not filled with crap like most stores. It is clean and well organized. Unfortunately, there was one booth that stood out of place. It was crowded and full of absolute junk. This dealer doesn't fit in with the store and should be asked to move. Prices are very high and there isn't much play in the discounts. They only have sales twice a year. Parking is also difficult. I found them driving by on El Camino. Other than a website, and certain dealers advertising in a booklet, there is no other advertising. I have lived on the Peninsula over 40 years and never seen an advertisement for this store before. I also looked around for the "show" table, with advertising for local shows. One dealer told me that it wasn't allowed in their store because it is competition for the store. How ridiculous! Probably would be more people coming through (the times I have gone there has been no other customers in the store) if the owner advertised a little more, like in the monthly free antique newspapers that everyone reads. A nice store if you're looking for top merchandise and don't mind paying for it. read more

I wouldn't send my worst enemy to this place. I made a large purchase. When I got it home, I realized it would not work in my house. I immediately called to ask if something could be done. I was willing to return it immediately, even if I was charged a re-stocking fee. The owner said all sales were final and that he could possibly take it back on consignment when he found room in the store, and do me the favor of taking a 20% fee instead of his usual 50%. I called 3 other local antique dealers and they all couldn't believe that he wouldn't give his customers a grace period to try the furniture out for a short time or at least let me exchange my purchase for something else.When I mentioned this to him, he said, "I can give a grace period, but you didn't buy the furniture that way". In other words, he's selective in which customers he offers that option to. How could he not have space in the store to take it back? It's been 3 months and I haven't heard from him. Clearly he has no intention of providing good customer service, not to mention hanging up on me several times. Word of mouth is a powerful thing...don't shop here read more
