My family and I were on our way to Austin but stopped by in the Houston area for lunch. We found this place and it was def a great find. The Carne Asada my husband ordered was flavorful and the pupusas I ordered were big and delicious! They also had a dessert that I had not eaten since I was 7. Nuegados, man that def took me back to my childhood days. The waiters were super nice. Bathrooms super clean. Pretty good place!

This is probably one of my favorite Salvadoran restaurants in Houston. Their menu is expansive - offering pupusas, soups, seafood, parilladas... If you're new to Salvadoran food, you can't go wrong with the pupusa plate, which comes with two pupusas of choice, tamale of your choice and fried plantains or fried yuca. If you want to eat on the lighter side, the fried mojara plate with rice and salad is a solid choice - the whole fish was cooked perfectly and could easily feed 2-4 people. Salsa wasn't too spicy; curtido (cabbage salad) was great. The tortillas are homemade, too! Aguas frescas, beer, and micheladas are some bevs of choice. My grandmother loved the agua de jamaica; and the michelada mix was good. Wasn't expecting a Salvadoran restaurant to offer up a good michi. Cash and credit are both accepted. Menu has food photos, so no worries about any language barrier. Food comes out hot and fast. For those commenting on it being a rough neighborhood ... how so? It's a predominantly Latino neighborhood. Not sure how that translates into "rough." Expand your life experiences already...

The food is great. Pupusas that are not greasy. Crisp curtido. Tamal elotes that tasted like you're processing the kernels on the spot. Prices are reasonable. It's in rough location, and the area is quiet which bothers me more than a place where foot and car traffic are busy like the Gulfton area. The place itself was clean, and quiet for a Saturday evening which reflected the neighbourhood. No one on their staff spoke English though so ordering was somewhat confusing as I puzzled over how plaintains were fried besides "normal". I think they were amused that I didn't fit the normal clientele.

The food is very badly cooked. My pupusa was burnt in some spots. The rice was flavorless and cold. And the pupusa sauce was basically water with a hint of tomato. The service was rude. And tried to overcharge us. I would not recommend coming here. It's definitely pricey for what they give and the given the area. Avoid!

Special A: Yucca (Cassava Root), 1 Tamale & 2 Pupusas

The BF picked this place out and it was great!!! In fact, I am noticing that when he picks a restaurant it is good and when I pick it is hit or miss..... I ordered the Special A platter which came with Fried Yucca (and some fried pork), a chicken or corn tamale--I opted for the corn, and 2 pupusas--I had the Loroco/Cheese (Salvadorian exotic veggie & cheese) and the Revueltas (pork & cheese). Pupusas came with cabbage and some kind of really good red sauce. I didn't much care for the Loroco pupusas as it didn't have much flavor, but the Pork was EXCELLENT! Fried Yucca--Meh, not so much. It was like a French fry and the pork was really tough. But the Corn tamale was great! I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch, and am already planning on when I am coming back and what I am going to eat!!! :-D

This is the only Salvadorian spot in this area. Desperately wanted pupusas and sopa de mondongo. The soup is literally just water, no rice, maybe 1 stick or carrot and 2 pieces of mondongo. I went up to the counter to ask for a lime since they never cared to check up on me (and I came alone and it's empty today) and the lady, who was literally blowing her nose, handed me a lime. I smiled and said, "maybe it's best if I grab the lime since you were blowing your nose ." Tell me why she got mad at me ‍ Disgusting. So disappointed in the quality of food and service. Never coming back

Pupusa Revuelta, pastelitos de carne, yuca frita, pupusas de queso con loroco, platanos fritos. Ensalada de Fruta and Horchata.

Come for great, cheap Salvadorean fare, not for ambiance. Love the pupusas and it is a plus that they serve cheap beer and micheladas.

Our server was super attentive and he made sure that everyone's food and drinks came out at the same time even if someone came in later. I had the nachos with beef fajita and chicken, and I thought it was pretty good, it has the same set up as nachos from Pappasito's and my only complaint was that I asked for a side of sour cream to go and was charged a dollar for it. So if anything keep in mind that if you request an extra or even a condiment on the side, you might get charged a small fee.

I feel like my food was probably sitting for a while because it wasn't hot. The omelette itself didn't really have any flavor nor did the potatoes. The most flavorful thing on the plate was the avocados and fruit. I didn't even really feel like it was an omelette. Looked more like a bunch of meat wrapped in an egg cover vs everything being nicely mixed together. I took it to go because I didn't want to throw it away there. The service was very slow. I'd say it took a little over an hour for me to get my food and some people in the group waited longer. One of the girls waited for quite a bit and then the waiter told her they don't have the item she was waiting for. Waiting 1 hr to be told your meal is isn't available is crazy lol Waiter was nice though and comped the other item she ordered. Overall, I'd say I wasn't impressed with Gloria's brunch for sure. Maybe I'd try them again for happy hour at their other location.

I went there due to seeing their instagram story about a $10 meal deal (2 pupusas, a pastelito, and a soda) but they had run out of pastelitos so I had to quickly choose something so I'm thankful that they were happy to help answer any questions. It's a small food truck located in the same parking lot with Fiesta off Paton and Cavalcade so there's no seating or real space to eat (unless you eat in your car). They're also honest about the wait time. They said it would take 15-20 minutes and they didn't go over their time estimate. I have only had pupusas a handful of times (I'm from a small town in WA state that only had Mexican restaurants since only Mexicans lived there, so don't judge ) and can say these were the best I've had thus far. They were freshly made and piping hot when I got them (I had to put the bag down from my lap because it was too hot) and remained so throughout eating them. The cheese was gooey and stringy and their salsa has a nice little kick to it. It wasn't greasy or too salty which is always a plus. I ordered the revueltas (pork & cheese) and added beans to them. They are HUGE so be mindful when ordering them (they also taste better the next day if you have any leftover). These were definitely worth the price. I would recommend this place to anyone who asks if I know where they sell good pupusas. Let's just say I'll be going in again (they're so close to me). I hope y'all enjoy.

Beware, they play loud Christian music. They have a small grocery store within the restaurant where you can find all types of Salvadoran products. It's $7.99. Who do they think they are? I inquired if they have a small size. They don't. I wonder how many folks purchase it. This is a low-income area. I got down to business and ordered a cheese and loroco pupusa. It was of course served with curtido (cabbage) and a tomato sauce. The pupusa was good but I've had better. The sauce was watered down.
