New favorite coffee/study spot in Houston! This place is (I think?) in Montrose area, and a gem with parking both in front (with spaces) and street parking available. The baristas/servers are so friendly, and the shop truly feels homey. Perfection for studying, with inside ample tables/chairs with nearby outlets as well as some comfy chairs and a couch. There's also a cute covered outside area which I'm sure I'll experience post summer time. They have a few yummy looking food options at a great price point - including tamales and baked pastries. I picked the chicken tamale as a light lunch - I got the most delicious chicken tamale I've had thus far, served with kettle crinkle chips and a tamale sauce to dip. There are many coffee/non coffee options. I opted for the iced horchata latte - agree with prior reviewers that this is delish. It is not too sweet and a great blend of vanilla and cinnamon that masks the espresso. Campesino is one of my favorite cafes to study at in Houston! There is ample seating, it is oftentimes very quiet (though if you do want to chat that is no problem at all) and the wifi is good. It is in a home-like structure with quirky furniture, but it makes me feel very much at home. The workers are also super nice and accommodating. The coffee is very reasonably priced and delicious. I always get their Horchata Latte---it is a perfect level of sweetness and the cinnamon complements the espresso perfectly (and it's only $5.50)! They have a variety of other drinks and pastries too, that I haven't been able to try. I highly recommend coming to study/catch up with a friend. One day, I finished my doctor's appointment and got really craving for coffee. I pulled out my phone and found a coffee house nearby. I started driving towards it but didn't realize it was at the other side of the parking lot. I was so glad that I found this quaint coffee house. Campesino was within walking distance. Me and my friend ordered coffees. He got a specialty coffee and I got a simple drip coffee with a splash of almond milk without extra charge. Service was okay. The atmosphere was okay. There were not many pastries to eat with my coffee. So, we went to Voodoo Donuts for something sweet. Most of seats were taken around 10 am. We didn't stay. There's so many nooks and different kinds of seating to suit your work session with plenty of natural light streaming into the huge windows facing either the street or backyard patio area. At 8am on a Thursday the space was not full at all and the associates were friendly and welcoming. I appreciated most the straightforward menu with lots of specialty (super unique!) options. They have free Wi-Fi so almost everyone was on their laptops because it is a great space to get some work done. You can choose from sitting at actual tables or more comfy sofa seating. I've heard great things about Campesino from both my Yelp and non-Yelp friends, both of whom suggested that I give this place a try even if I'm not a big coffee drinker. Sure enough, I very much enjoyed my visit on a Saturday afternoon while catching up with a friend. This small shop sits on the corner of a residential block and would easily be mistaken as a home if not for the number of cars parked right outside. The vibe is cozy with a garden variety of seats to choose from, as in typical Montrose fashion. The inside seats offer plenty of ambient light through every wall, or you could enjoy some direct sunlight in the backyard with both shaded and unshaded areas. The horchata deserves just as much praise as the welcoming atmosphere. Their unique and delicious recipe sets it apart from the rest of the beverage businesses in the area. Even more so since it's only $4 for a tall glass -- a rare find anywhere these days, let alone Montrose. I can't ask for more out of a non-caffeinated drink. What a cool place to read, work, socialize, or all of the above! Very few coffee shops can match the versatility that this one offers. read more

The cold brew works wonders for my tired brain and the horchata latte goes down a little too easily. The pork tamal is a nice addition, even if they seem somewhat small for $10. At least they come with some (likely store bought) plantain chips and hot sauce. is fatty with good flavor and I love the bits of potato. It works better as a snack than a meal. I hope they continue to develop the food, since this could be a fun draw for new patrons. Parking is limited out front, but there are plenty of spaces in the back. WiFi is spotty but when in doubt, shoot for network #24. Furniture isn't in the best condition and the interior could use a sprucing up. There are tears in the chairs and many of the mini tables aren't level. Lots of random seating with benches and even street view, but outlets are mainly in the corners. I had the Campesino cafè con leche, which is the cafè de olla with cinnamon, honey, and steamed oat milk. I love oat milk and pretty much only drink that, so I enjoyed this bevy. My only hesitation is something's out of their control parking can be a challenge, but I find the transitioning neighborhood as another issue.
