Had a Groupon for a $15 spray tan, which was a good deal. The spa is easy to find, half block from Bloomfield Ave, with plenty of free, street parking, right in front. The spray tan itself, done by the salon owner was average. This review is wholly based on the keratin treatment. The girls that work there are all very nice and attentive. I purchased a groupon for a keratin treatment. I've had several keratin treatments in the past so I know the drill. I would even say that I'm somewhat of a lunatic with not getting my hair wet or pinning it back for 72 hours. I use only keratin by copolla shampoo and conditioner. This time, I even waited an extra day. All, for nothing. From the first wash I could see that the product really didn't do much. By the 4th wash, it was like I never had the treatment at all. I've never had this happen to me before. Which is amazing because all of my prior keratin treatments were done when I was living in Miami; the land of perpetual heat and humidity. Overall, if you see the deal for the groupon, skip it. This location is actually on Grove St in Verona, but I love it. I also was a groupon customer and was skeptical after a bad groupon hair-cutting experience. These women definitely converted me and I will absolutely be coming back. First, they're really friendly and my stylist, Tracy, was wonderful. I went to this salon because of a groupon purchase I made, which I had a positive experience with Tracey. She colored and trimmed my hair slightly. I was very impressed! So I made another appointment with Tracey and it went from 100 to ZERO real quickly. She dried cut 5inches of my hair, all I wanted was a cover of the grays. I requested bangs and she kept saying over and over again if I was sure. Which should of been a context clue... And I responded, "yes I want the cute Light side bangs." Let's just say I have bangs that start at the crown (middle of my head). It gets better she chopped off the side of the hair right near my right ear. It's been 3 months since that awful hair cut and I can't even put my hair in a ponytail because I have an outdated 80's haircut going on. I'm getting married in October and I'm so happy it wasn't the day after. Luckily the salon refunded the haircut but their didn't offer anything pro-bono. Although the friendly, talented stylist gave me a nice cut and color, I would not ever go back to Antonio Michael--and here's why. When I mentioned that I was considering doing keratin, my stylist Gina suggested I come back and let her do it at the salon's $99 Groupon price, even though the deal had expired. I didn't ask--she offered. But when I called back two months later, Gina said that she couldn't honor the deal because she would "get in trouble." Needless to say, I was unhappy about this and said so to the manager, a rude woman named Donna. I pointed out that Gina had made a promise that the salon should honor. Perhaps it was a misundersanding; perhaps they are sleazy and dishonest, and don't care about their customers. Who can say? Either way, I wash my hair of Antonio Michael and will get my $99 keratin deal at a better salon. read more

I am giving this place two stars only because the young lady who did my pedicure was very good. She was very sweet and it was a good pedicure. However, her hours do not cater to a working women's hours-more like a house wife hours. Only a few selected nites a week does she do Late hours, and since their is only one person who seems to do pedicures it's hard to get the later appointments. But my real gripe is with the front desk receptionist.I had to book a pedicure appointment and due to my work schedule and there lack of late nite apointments I needed a sat. And this receptionist told me that Saturdays "are reserved for her regulars..... And I couldn't get a sat appoinment." I was shocked!!! So what does that mean? I am not a paying patron? And I could/would become a regular but because of their snobby and elitist attitude that I could not book a sat, forget it! She could of atleast said they were booked, but the answer of " Saturday's are reserved for her regulars" turned me off completely! I have gone to high end salons that would never talk to and/or treat a customer like this. Very disappointing. As I said the manicurist is very good n very sweet but the front desk is rude!I would rather go anywhere and spend $$$ then get treated like that. Smh... Sad. read more

First off I would like to say that Antonio Michael salon is one of the most fair and cooperative salon I've ever been to. All the staff is very friendly and work hard to accommodate all clientel. I do have to say it is sad when people post things that could not be farther from the truth. As a groupon shopper it is very well known that for most businesses it is ONE groupons per customer . Which I believe is very fair. The staff here does try to work with the client and bend in areas if they can. At the end of the day they work hard and do fantastic work. Donna the receptionist is a gem. She couldn't be more accommodating and respectful. She really takes care of the clientel. I gave my mother a groupon for this salon, but when she called to make a reservation they were EXTREMELY RUDE. They told her they would not make a weekend reservation, as these days are only for "real customers" and that they did not need the business and we should return the groupon. No where in the details of the groupon does it say anything about not being able to make weekend appointments. We will be returning our groupon and will NEVER go to this salon. read more

I am a salon 'bouncer'. I have been bouncing all over the Tri-state area searching for someone who can cut my hair (a la Sally Hershberger's Jane Fonda cut) and give me natural light brown highlights that leave my hair shiny and healthy looking. I have paid top dollar (over $600 for cut and color) in top NYC salons and the average $300 here in Jersey and have gotten mostly average to downright criminal treatments. (criminal was the most recent top NYC $600 cut/color that left my hair streaky, frosty and fried). Over the years, I have tried just about every salon in Montclair but have eventually left them all, feeling like either a hair model being experimented on by an inexperienced stylist out of school or just another customer in the 'hair factory'. Some places felt cold and impersonal and others felt a little too friendly and unprofessional. You know, when the staff is talking about other customers in front of you, you know at some point they might be talking about you!! I don't need to be impressed by decor, the unique space, the coffee, the music, the attitude, the other chi chi customers. Just let me walk out of the salon feeling like I just got my money's worth and I don't want run home and 'redo' my do. Feeling desperate and like I had lost all faith in the hair industry, I took the advice of my oldest friend who has been seeing Becky and Patty at Antonio Michael and before that St Ives for the longest time....possibly 15 years? Her hair always looks great, healthy and shiny. Becky colored my hair back in the day at St Ives and I always loved what she did then so I decided to try her at her new salon in Verona and all I can say is WOW! Becky really is the best colorist around in my opinion. There is no experimentation with her. She really just knows what she is doing. I wanted natural light brown hair with a little highlight and that is what I got. My cut with Patty went equally as well. What I noticed about her is that she first gives you a traditional base cut and then funks it up with razor and other techniques which really gives your hair a professional look, body and style. Many stylists today do not do this, they just start texturizing without a base and the result is really messed up hair, and i mean messed up-- not in a good way. What i like most about this place is that there is no clique, no attitude. It is like going to your sister's house, where everyone is comfortable talking to one another. Maybe your aunt is in the corner getting her nails done, your cousin is getting her hair blown out. Everybody feels like family here. There was something sort of Steel Magnolias about this place but I mean that in the nicest way....(nobody had 'dos' like Dolly, Shirley, or heaven forbid Julia's hideous do). It was just a friendly, homey feeling like we were stepping into Becky's actual home and she wanted us to feel welcome in a most natural, familial kind of way. Go there and you will see what I mean. And by the way, I did NOT race home and redo my do......though I did spend quite a lot of time admiring myself in the mirror when i got home. read more

I had purchased the one time manicure groupon deal.When I called to use it , a nice lady named Donna told me they would honor it after the expiration date due to scheduling. I made an appt for October 13. It was easy to find. Everyone was friendly,even the other clients. Ena did my nails. What a gem. If I could afford it I would have her do my nails every two weeks. When she worked on your cuticles you did not even know she was trimming them. She did not have any problems using the instruments I brought with me. She gave me a wonderful foot massage with my pedicure. Additionally this salon was very clean. Will definitely return. read more

I visited this salon through a purchased Groupon. Unfortunately, I didn't have a very positive experience. My appointment started off with my hairdresser arriving almost a half an hour late. She was very apologetic and it really did seem like it was simply a misunderstanding of the appointed time, so I eased into the chair and let her work her magic with the Keratin treatment I had planned. The treatment went very well until a few days later, when I finally washed my hair, I noticed a chunk of my hair was about three inches shorter than the rest of my hair. Turns out she burned a chunk of my hair off while she was straitening it. It was very disappointing. This salon has a cozy feel to it and it seems they get a lot of regulars based on many of the friendly conversations that were happening while I waited. Perhaps this was just a rare mistake on the hairdressers part, but I found it unprofessional to let me find out I'm missing a chunk of my hair several days later. read more

Bought a groupon for a Keratin (after making the appt on the telephone and giving my full info). Was at this salon when it was in W. Caldwell over 5 years ago - never at the new place with new people. They tried selling me their own groupon and I said no. When I went in today for the service, the extremely rude and nasty girl - who only texted and wouldnt look up at me - said I was in the system from years ago so they wouldnt honor it. I asked for a manager and she just ignored me and said she will be in later. Needless to say, I walked out - very unhappy with no keratin :(. I would NEVER recommend this place- and I was looking for a new salon to go to. One hairdresser was on the phone with a new client making faces and was annoyed at the questions. Really??
