They didn't tell me it was expired while I was there, let me use half of it, then crossed out the expiration date and made it a date in expire 10/30/25. I was unaware they back-dated it because I was in a hurry to put it in my pocket since I was in rush. Fast forward to today, I went to use it and obviously it wasn't honored because of that new date. I understand that it expired and of course I'm fine not using it since it's completely my fault. It was just the most bizarre experience because 1. No one mentioned it was expired the first time I was there (which I would have been fine paying for my pedicure if someone explained that to me instead writing in a new date so couldn't use it again) Also I'm just not sure why they would give me back a gift certificate that I can't use anymore or never mention that it was expired. 2. What kind of place has a 1 week or 1 month expiration date? (Thinking about it I'm wondering if it the date a typo since it was handwritten because most places around here have a 1 year expiration date when I buy them or am gifted them.) Also my nails were different lengths and the polish I used developed white spots on top (it was a light purple) With so many wonderful places in Montclair, I would definitely consider buying a gift certificate somewhere else with a longer expiration date, a more clear policy, or somewhere that will take the time to explain these dates and policies if you have an issue like I did if you are looking to purchase a gift.

Well, my expectations were definitely exceeded. For starters, the place looks great inside. The new owners have done an amazing job decorating and it now looks more elegant than it did before. I got there as soon as they opened and decided on a mani/pedi. The place was immaculate, there were plenty of OPI and Essie colors to choose from and the woman who did my nails - Sandra - was wonderful, personable, and excellent at her job. I especially appreciated the mini massage that she gave me on my shoulders as I waited for my nails to dry! I have to say that I got a way better mani/pedi than ones that I've gotten at a certain large salon/spa in Montclair for half the price ($26!!). Needless to say, this alone would have been enough to make me come back. But what happened AFTER my services is what really will keep me coming back... Like a moron, I left my engagement ring in the ring keeper after I got my heavenly hand massage. This wasn't just any ring. It once belonged to my husband's grandmother. So, as you can guess, it's pretty invaluable in a sentimental kind of way. Of course, I didn't realize the ring was missing until that evening. Frantic, I tried to retrace my steps, thinking about where I could have lost it. I finally realized that it must have been at the nail salon. As you can imagine, I had a fitful night of sleep that evening! I arrive at the salon the next morning - a full 24 hours after I had left it - thinking for sure that it wouldn't be there. It was. I couldn't believe it! A number of things could have happened, but Sandra recognized me as soon as I arrive and got the owner/manager to get my ring. There aren't many people or businesses who are this honest. They have a client for life! FYI...There is plenty of parking on the street, but there is also a small lot on the side of the building.

Sadly when soaking off my old gel manicure, they left my nails soaking too long and my nail beds were burned. An oversight I guess, but they weren't that busy that this should not have happened. I made an appointment for a mani/pedi for 2 weeks later. I called the day before and asked if I could bring my daughter for service also. They said yes but needed to change the time to accommodate us, which was fine. Upon arrival we were told that we couldn't both get a mani/pedi, which was hugely disappointing since it was 2 days before Easter. It was also my only day off to get this done, but I shouldn't have been inconvenienced to come twice which the point of making an appointment, isn't it?? The salon continued to allow walk in customers all while telling us we couldn't get 2 services. I think it's strange that a salon would sacrifice a potential long term customer to allow basic volume of customers. I would never return here, it's a shame.

I called on a Sunday afternoon to see if they could accommodate a gel manicure with extension and they were able to take me right away. Tracy was my technician, and I felt very comfortable with her the moment I sat down. She was a great listener and made sure she understood exactly what I wanted. She paid attention to my desired length, shape, color and look. I mentioned I wanted a very natural nail with some extended length and that was exactly what I got. Tracy is definitely thorough and detail-oriented. Not to mention, she was super pleasant and enjoyable to talk to. The salon also has ample parking in the lot (a true perk for the area), and was super tidy and clean! It was not crowded for a Sunday, but staff did seem limited for that day, so I would advise calling ahead before coming. They did have to tell some walk-ins to come back later since their chairs were filled at the time. I am looking forward to coming back here and trying out some of their other services in a few weeks! I got my first set of acrylic tips and nails a few weeks ago. I went this past Sunday to get a fill in and there are apparently only a couple of techs in this salon do acrylic nails. The girl that did my nails was not the person that normally does my gel manicures. The manager/owner assured me that this nail tech was very good. When I sat down I told her that I did not want gel on top of my acrylic because I noticed she had a bottle of gel nail color and she said OK. Then she told me it was going to be $70 for a fill-in and I almost fell out of my chair. I've never paid more than $30-$40 tops. I asked her again are you sure you charge $70 for a regular acrylic nail fill and she said yes. I didn't want to cause a scene so I just sat there and let her do my nails at a premium which is ridiculous. Plus she put gel on my nails after I specifically told her I did not want it. She had quite an attitude with me as well. I really should have requested a refund or gotten up and left but I didn't. So after almost a year of having pleasant experiences I will no longer go to this salon. To have been charged that amount of money for a simple fill in is ludicrous and they should understand that there are nail salons pretty much on every corner that people can choose to go to. They used to provide more detailed regular pedicures but now I guess you need to upgrade your pedicure to get anything. This felt like a no frills pedicure. The girls are always nice here. I was just disappointed in the fast pedicure which cost me $30 plus tip. Guess I need to try somewhere new. Sigh.
