I love my trainer Wendy... she's a machine! The equipment is great, and machines feel high end. Plus, from what I have seen so far, there is a minimal amount of douchy gym rats there! ;) Very nice change rooms and a couple of large showers. I guess the only down side is the size of the classroom, which limits the number of people who can take the classes. I see that as a good thing, because I prefer smaller classes, but it may get crowded.

Downtown gyms are really horrible. Just let me get that out first. I finally chose Anytime because they ARE NOT/DO NOT HAVE: Absurd prices, crowds, Iinitiation fee, activation fee, towel fee, pushy sales people. What do they have? 24 hr access, towel service, individual shower rooms, awesome trainers that know you by first name, yoga studio with video workouts, tvs, good looking people, and free parking. All downtown. Yes, it's true. Good amount of cardio equipment, and more weights than you can imagine. My gym buddies have also commented that they have more machines than most locations. The shower and bathrooms are also really new and clean, no gross tiles with the weird swampy smells, and rusty metal stuff. and because it's on 1st street, you can grab a bite just about anywhere along this street because you had a great workout and you deserve it! It's been sort of counter productive for me, but I assume I'm the only one with no willpower.

We saw a good deal on Kijiji and went for it. I have to say I really enjoy it. This location never seems to be very crowded, and there is a lot of excellent equipment at your disposal. The staff and trainers all seem very knowledgeable and eager to help out. Towel service means never having to bring your own towel from home. Electronic lockers means you don't have to bring your own lock and memorize yet another combination of random numbers. There is also a jacuzzi tub, a dry sauna, and a steam room. Rounding things off, there are private showers, so you don't have to shower with 15 other guys or girls (I assume the ladies also have private showers). Always do your research when joining a gym. If you have to get a contract, make sure it's one you can work with and that you will use - don't spend money on something you won't use four months down the road, let alone 15 months.

Here are my reasons: (1) absolutely no customer service as it relates to your policies. You have access to an email that goes to who knows where and no one really knows whats going on; (2) in connection with item #1, they adopt and enforce absolutely ridiculous policies. I was a member of the Vancouver branch and wanted to transfer to the Calgary branch. I was told this was impossible. Instead, my options were to "upgrade" my membership at double the monthly rate or cancel my Vancouver membership, re-enroll with Calgary and pay the initial joining fee again; (3) there's no water fountain. This one is actually extremely bizarre. How can it even be legal to permit people to work out in an environment where dehydration can only be mitigated by waiting for some guy to finish his business in the washroom so that you can desperately access to sink taps? I know its a "no frills" gym but, Fit 4 Less, is a water fountain really a "frill"? At this point, your members may even settle for a garden hose attached in the alley. Don't sign up with this gym. I realize the price point "appears" worth it, but trust, there are better ones out there with similar or the same prices. (World Gym in Calgary for one).

I get sad when I don't get to see Elizabeth. In fact, the customer service she has provided has been second to none. If I was an employer, I would model my entire employee training structure around how well she handles customers. Frankly, I would be surprised if Elizabeth did not find herself rapidly ascending the ranks of MNP and taking on a very high level position. It would be a discredit to MNP if that did not happen. This gym is only interested in making money out of their customers and that is the end of it. The…read moregym follows unfair business practices, their sales/service representatives are only their to lure you to sign up for their memberships. I went to the gym to avail the Black Friday deal that they offered one of my friend and because it was close to where I live. The person first told me that they don't have the same deal and offered me another deal which made me pay more. I told the guy that my friend was told it is still available and left the gym without signing the contract. I got a call from the gym during Box Day and told that a similar deal is now available but when I went to the gym at first they said that the deal has ended and then when I told them I got a call from the gym they reluctantly gave me a deal which was close to the original deal but still made me pay more. The guy told me it is a one year contract and after one year I can cancel the contract or it will auto renew. After I joined the gym I realized it was not Gold Standard as advertised. The equipment were old and frequently out of service. The personal training session were too costly and the locker rooms where dirty. So after one year and before my renewal I asked the gym to cancel my membership and I was told I still have to pay for another year of annual membership fees and any payment falling in 30 days which technically meant 3 bi-weekly payments. Even after telling the gym that it made no sense for me to pay to annual membership when I am informing you before my renewal date. At this the gym told me that I had signed a contract which says that I need to inform them 30 days in advance and refused to pay me back my money. Please don't go by the marketing campaigns and join another gym that gives you better value for your money.
