The arena de-ices the rink to have other events during the summer months. It was kind of hard to find, and your GPS is not very reliable and will take you to non-existent streets. It's a small arena, but a perfect size for Iron Mountain as you don't need the whole town there to make the bleachers look full. There's a concession stand when you walk-in, the locker rooms were decent, and they had a nice house speaker system (that I got to use being an announcer). Looking at their website they have lots of hockey teams play there, along with figure skating and open skate.

After taking the train ride into the mine a guide will lead you thru the mine. Im 63 and always take first timers to the UP to the Iron Mine. I probably have been through this mine 30plus times. I feel I could be a guide since I can practically recite what they tell you. LOL Don't miss a chance to tour this mine. P.S. A word of caution don't wear new shoes. Weat an old beat up pair. There is moisture on the walking path and with all the iron in the soil your shoes will become a rusty rea color,.

We decided to walk up the trail through the trees, which brought us to a large clearing on the top of the hill with a spacious observation deck. From here, we could look out onto a good portion of Iron Mountain and the forested hills beyond. Had the weather been nicer, the view would have been even more incredible, but it was a gray, dreary day looking over thousands of trees that haven't leafed out yet.
