I didn't try the kickboxing classes, although I wish I would have because they sound like a phenomenal workout, but we did do CrossFit three times. One day was an open gym style in the evening but they still program a WOD you can do - or work on your own thing which is a great complement to traditional training because we all have weaknesses and this is a great time to focus on some of those things, but the programmed WOD is always a good option too. The CrossFit class we did join was great. I have an injury preventing me from doing several movements but the coach made a quick adjustment for me so I could still join and have a really good workout. The box is spacious with new high quality and clean equipment (which surprisingly you don't find everywhere) and the programming was excellent. If I lived in the Nevada area I would totally join this box. I travel a lot for work and have visited several CrossFit's across the country and this is one of the best ones I've been to, I highly recommend them.

Well, I had ran into Thomas the man that runs this program a couple days ago and he had the nerve to ask me to remove my one star rating to make him look better to make his program look better. This is unacceptable. When I met Thomas, I explain to him how important my sobriety was and he put people in my path That actively drink and use marijuana. This is not acceptable from the outside. This looks like a wonderful program. I'm telling you be cautious. My sobriety is the most important thing to me and I was better off on my own because I had control over who was in my life this program put people that were actively using in my path

Inside they have fitness studios, daycare, lots of cardio and weight machines, free weights, indoor track, and stretching areas. The locker rooms are very large and have plenty of showers. They also have a wet and dry sauna which make me feel like I'm at a spa. The facility is always spotless and equipment is kept clean between users. Classes- They offer a huge variety of cardio (Zumba, spin), weights, and yoga classes which are all taught by passionate fitness leaders. Staff- They are always greeting you and able to answer any questions you may have. I always have a great time getting my workout in thanks to Ames Racquet and Fitness! Tips: Bring your own padlock if you want to use a locker and check with your apartment lease to see if a membership is included in your rent!

I actually went to the North Ames location to sign on with the manager there, she was much more approachable and helpful, I'd recommend signing up with her and not this South Ames guy, there's just something off with this guy. And the showers would have the same dirt from a week prior, same with the sauna. I recently had to cancel my membership and he said maybe ten words in all to me and did not care about the cancellation. From my previous experiences with gyms I've never dealt with such a manager. All are usually very kind and helpful and want to know how they can improve the gym and how my experience was. Not sure I'll be back. The rest of the employees there are wonderful however!
