Staff there are great. Dimitri was very approachable and welcoming, very helpful when I popped in to join, while on holiday in Sydney. The atmosphere in the gym is great, don't feel out of place, like some gyms I have been too. Doesn't get very busy like some gyms and I've never had to wait for any equipment I have wanted to use. I would highly recommend this gym.

I stopped in every morning while in Sydney and Matthew, the shorter cute dirty blonde helped me with a day pass each time. He's friendly and helpful. I appreciated that he gave me a quick rundown of the facility on my first visit. It's a large facility on three floors. I also visited the Oxford Street location, but the service there is lacking compared to Bond Street. Plus, Bond is much larger. Know that Bond is closed on the weekend. But for me, this was the little feature that had me asking "So where do I sign up?" The gym in itself is pretty nice. One giant warehouse style room, the gym is filled with a plentiful supply of cardio machines (treadmills, X-trainers, bikes and steps), and four spacious weights divisions dedicated to working different parts of the body - back, arms, legs and free weights. Upstairs is a stretching room and a ladies only area. Whilst I appreciate the idea of a ladies only area, this section of the gym is by far its worst. Whereas the rest of the gym is filled with light and is bouncing with music coming from the plasma screen dancing with trashy video clips (or the news, if you so choose), the ladies room is dark, dingy and quiet, with no speakers meaning that the only sound is that that manages to make its way upstairs from the downstairs speakers. Camperdown Fitness also offers your regular gym classes (Boxing, Spin, Yoga, etc.) which are included in your membership, and the trainers are mostly pretty good. Also, whilst you take some time for yourself in a yoga class, your kids can wait in the kid's playroom in the room next door. All the staff have always got a smile for you and seem to know when you don't want to be approached, so there's no fear of them coming and offering unwanted advice. In saying that, they are also helpful if you need them to be, and a few free Personal Training sessions are included in any membership. But, all this aside, Camperdown Fitness has GHDs in the ladies change-rooms. This means not having to go home between gym and work, gym and date, or gym and any further plans. Alternatively, it also means not having to carry your hair straightener around with you all day or risking leaving it behind. Camperdown Gym is the kind of gym that you want to go back to. It's clean, bright, spacious and motivating. The music isn't as terrible as it could be, the staff are great, and you can flick through the tvs at your leisure when on the cardio machines. Giant fans blast you in summer and icy-cold bubblers are dotted around the gym. Mirrors line every wall, so you're able to keep check on your own form whilst watching others without getting caught out. The main negative point is that its large glass front walls are positioned directly in front of a bus stop, so every person on Parramatta Rd is watching whilst you slog it out, running and sweating, flushed and panting. But hey, they can judge all they like - at least you're exercising.

Fast forward to now, you're required to pay what they call it a "Casual Pass" for $20 AUD. Upon entry, I was required to complete an online app on the Covid Service NSW website for contact tracing purposes, then pay the front desk before entering. The front desk lad gave me the password for free WiFi since my mobile was only running on 2G lol. I immediately noticed a major renovation starting with the ground level. There is a whole new Eatery where you can not only you can enjoy juices & shakes, but breakfast, lunch or dinner! The weight training area was a little to crowded and claustrophobic in my opinion, probably because space was made for the Eatery. Most of the LF Machines have remained the same, except they've added several Olympic power lifting platforms. I know it's summer season, but for some reason the air con was absolutely not working. There was a portable A/C unit tucked away in one corner, but not cooling down the room at all. Face masks aren't required, most people were not wearing one, nor did I seem to notice members using a towel, or wiping down equipment/benches at least after usage. Cardio was moved to the 2nd Floor, there are TV's mounted to the walls, and each machine has a personal monitor. I was trying to bluetooth my wireless to the monitor, but needed a standard earphone instead. The two areas I don't frequent are the Boxing Gym and the All Functional Training Studio. All classes are free for members, so that's a plus! On the top floor, there use to be a few machines, but now it's the Mind & Body Studio used for Yoga classes. I normally bring a hand towel from the hotel, but I think this gym provides for members. Locker Room is split Men's and Woman's area, also got a renovation. The place is very well kept because there was a custodian working that day, and there's tons of alcohol wipes all through out. All in all, I like City Gym because it's very convenient to the hotel, most of the members are friendly, and it's a very serious training gym, not your typical commercial gym. Hours of trade have gotten better, open 24 hours Mon-Fri! Check-in on Yelp to get either a Vanilla or Chocolate Spartan Protein Shake!

A gym like CrossFit Athletic city can sound daunting but they are actually very efficient! You get a class session with a coach and members who support you! All you need to do is power through the workout! It s as easy as that! No wasted time! I travel a lot for work and found CrossFit Athletic city nearby my hotel. I had to give them a try! They have a nice gym setup and workout classes that challenge you to push yourself. Their facilities are comfortable and clean. The coaches are very supportive and helpful. I got to meet the owner Peter. He s got great energy and very motivated in making sure members have a great gym session. I also met Maeva, one of the weekday coaches. She helped me with techniques and was very welcoming! So give this gym a try!

I've been on vacation for over 10 days this point and I was in no shape to do 20.5, Coach Philipe was super encouraging and helped me break down the WOD to different parts, and was so supportive! The gym itself is down in the basement of a business high rise, which makes the stairs/elevators hard to find to get there (since some of the elevators don't go down to the basement), but it's super convenient for those who want to get a WOD in during their lunch hour! The gym is located centrally to where we were staying at Milson's Point and we were able to walk there from the AirBnb. I was able to knock out 20.5 for a cheap drop-in price of $10 AUD, buy some gear, and if you want, they also sell smoothies/protein shakes on-site which is super conveniently! They have blenders in the back, and water filtration systems to fill your water bottle! It's a bit on the small side and there aren't a lot of equipment, the ones they have are not super new.. but it definitely does the trick! They have classes as well and WODs on the board! Go check them out!

My local gym woot. It's very small, it's where the RTA used to be if anyone can remember that far…read moreback. But they've still managed to maintain a decent customer base because I go at all hours and there's always at least 1 or 2 others. I think the most attractive feature about this gym (not for me) are the plated and weighted sections. They have dedicated bench presses. I'm not entirely sure what that means but apparently the other two nearby 24/7hr gyms don't have them. There's a crossfit room of some sorts also. The cardio area is pretty basic about 6/7 treadmills, 2 ellipticals & 3 bikes. The main focus seems to be on weights and lots of it. So coincidentally this gym is most frequented by the male population. I rarely see my fellow sisterhood but hey who cares. In the end it works for me because it's 2 mins walk away.
