Decent gym. Tried it out when gyms reopened but wasn't too happy with how liberal people were with masks.

I've lost 45 pounds since joining and I do most of the group exercise classes they offer. It's also an awesome value at only $99 per month for our entire family which includes two hours of child watch time per day. You also get a 3 hour parents night out once per month that I feel is worth half the cost of membership alone and my husband and I get to go out for date night. I've been to other Y's in the area but none of them compare to this Y. The staff and instructors know my name when I walk in the door and it truly feels like family there. I've also made many friends over the last 5 years there and I'm so glad I joined!

**Extremely Disappointed -- This Is Not Acceptable Customer Service**…read more My swim lessons were transferred from the Jennersville YMCA to the Coatesville YMCA specifically to accommodate my work schedule. Coatesville advertised a Sunday swim lesson at **12:30 p.m.**, so I arranged my day around the service I was scheduled and paying to receive. I am new to this area. I drove approximately **45 minutes**, coming from between Philadelphia and Kennett Square to Coatesville, navigating unfamiliar, winding roads and paying nearly **$5 a gallon for gas**. I arrived, checked in, changed into my swimsuit, got into the pool, and waited. By approximately **12:38 p.m.**, it became clear there was a problem. The young lifeguards working at the pool had **no idea there was even supposed to be a swim lesson.** Think about that. I drove 45 minutes for a scheduled lesson, changed, got into the pool, and the employees responsible for the pool did not even know the lesson existed. No one from the Coatesville YMCA contacted me beforehand to say the lesson was canceled, changed, or that there was an issue. Then came the customer-service failure. There was one person working the front desk, **Jaya**, and she was unable to resolve anything. At that point, I requested that my membership be canceled and that I receive the appropriate refund because I should not continue paying for services that the YMCA failed to provide. I was told I would have to **send an email**. No. I was standing inside the YMCA after THEY failed to provide the service I drove 45 minutes to receive. I asked Jaya to cancel the membership then or contact someone who had the authority to do so. She told me she did not have any phone numbers for anyone who could help. How does the person operating the front desk of an organization have **no way to contact a manager or someone with the authority to resolve a customer issue?** Instead, I received several apologies and a business card for **Aydin Ludwiczak, Aquatics Coordinator**, and was essentially sent on my way. "Sorry" does not return the time I lost. "Sorry" does not put the gas back into my car. "Sorry" does not explain why nobody notified me. And "sorry" is not an acceptable substitute for actually resolving a problem your organization created. What makes this experience even more troubling to me is that Coatesville serves a predominantly Black community. Communities of color deserve **competent, organized, responsive customer service just like anyone else**. The level of service I experienced today was disrespectful and unacceptable, and I sincerely hope this is not representative of the standard this YMCA believes this community should accept. I will be documenting this experience, contacting YMCA leadership, and leaving appropriate reviews because this deserves attention beyond the front desk. I did not ask for anything extraordinary. I expected the **scheduled service I paid for**, or at the absolute minimum, advance notice that it would not be provided. And once the YMCA failed to deliver that service, I expected someone to take ownership of the problem and resolve it. Instead, I got confusion, no lesson, no meaningful assistance, no immediate resolution, and a business card. **That is unacceptable.**

Here's a quick summary for short attention span folks…read more This gym is expensive and worth every penny (to me). Your value prop might be different but if you want to feel good, have a staff who care about you, teach and guide you in a professional, friendly, unintimidating way, this gym is for you but you have to put in the time. My legs and back feel great which I was never able to achieve working out on my own. Marino's approach is quite different to what you are used to but you don't have to take my word for it, give them a call and setup up a free trial. 1. The facility is rectangular which lends itself well to conditioning workouts. You need the length so you can actually move. Exceptionally clean, 2 bathrooms and on nice days there is a large garage type door that is open bringing in fresh air. 2. Staff and semi private training. This is what you are paying for. Private personal trainers can cost anywhere from $40 to $70 an hour so the model at Marino's is to provide 2 to 3 trainers on the floor training several people at a time and this is done effectively because you have to schedule your time. This allows a given time slot not to be overrun upsetting trainer's attention. 3. Programs are provided based on your initial assessment and goals. Once a program is completed, another one is issued. This does several things. It keeps things fresh. Doing the same exercise routine over and over again is a guarantee you will quit a gym. It's tailored just for you and at the end of every program cycle, your input on what's working or not is taken into consideration on next program. If you injure yourself at home, develop tendonitis or any ailment that causes pain, the program can be changed at anytime to minimize your discomfort. 4. The staff (trainers and owners) are all higher Ed trained. They are all certified in CPR, defibrillators and have massage therapist onsite. Marino's has a registered dietician (RD), certified specialist in sports dietetics (CSSD). They're knowledgable, supportive and just nice people. 5. I'm coming up on 3 years here in Feb 2021 and my legs feel like marble columns, zero back issues and I can throw a ball again.

I thoroughly enjoy both semi-private and the group classes. Both Chris and Rachel along with all my…read morecoaches do a PHENOMINAL job of tailoring each workout to your needs, always ensuring that you have correct form and technique to prevent injuries and are keeping oneself safe while maximizing the effectiveness of the exercise.
