While we were living in Madrid, we decided to take our second trip to the Canary Islands. We chose Lanzarote based on it's volcano's (which are amazing) and decided to stay at Puerto Del Carmen. We chose the Arena Dorada mainly due to the pricing (which was quite cheap) - roughly 25 to 30 EUR per day or something ridiculous. It is with that in mind that I write this review.
Pro's:
- A few minutes walking to the beach
- spacious apartment (big living room, kitchen)
- easy to find parking on streets near hotel
- close walking to shops/restaurants/etc
- room was cleaned regularly and well
- they speak English
Con's:
- bed was easily the worst I have ever slept on - had to take the cushion from the couch in the living room and put it on the bed
- no English television channels, while almost no channels at all
- no Wifi as available as they said too many people were already using it
- difficult to find the first time
- reception only open till 8pm or so
- the nicer restaurants are near the Quay area which is a good 15 or 20 minute walk away
Overall it lived up to what we expected it to be. With that said, we wouldn't recommend it as the place to stay. There seemed to be better altneratives! read more
