The problem started when I pushed back on their quote/recommendations. I even stated I needed something budget friendly and done possibly in stages. I was open to ideas and never once said no to any of the recommendations. Once I asked for more budget friendly alternatives, I got ghosted and communication stopped. It's unfortunate that as a loyal customer for about three years I got treated this way simply because I was trying to work within my budget. I hired this business for 3 different jobs removing 5 trees total and their stumps over the last…read morefew years. Luis said after each job to contact him if I found any remaining stump or large roots. At my request during one job, he even consulted with a bee guy who came and safely removed the bees since they had moved into my dead tree, which I so appreciated. Well, I've currently (6/8) been trying (since 3/22) to get him to come out to finish getting out a large stump I found just a few inches under the surface of where a 50+ yr old liquid amber was. Luis texted he'd come 3/27, but he never did. I've tried several times (4/6, 5/105/18, 6/4, ) to contact him, and either the voicemail is full or he ignores the texts. He finally returned my call from a few days ago and said he'd be out that day. Only to later text that he wasn't coming, but he'd come the next day. He came Saturday and trimmed MY NEIGHBOR'S TREE and didn't touch the stump. Why didn't I say anything then, you ask? Well, he didn't bother to talk to me, but he talked to the "concrete guys" I had hired to do work in my front yard. I know, it's pretty unbelievable, right?! I sent him a video of the stump still there and told him "those concrete guys" have no say over my property. He said he'd come 6/7. Thank goodness I didn't hold my breath because he didn't show up, he didn't call, he once again ignored my text to inquire when he was coming. Sadly, I suppose since he knows he's removed ALL of my trees now, he's not getting any more money from me so I am no longer a priority. It's very disappointing, because I used to recommend him. Not now, since I will have to pay money to try to rectify this situation to hold him and his business accountable. I am currently getting quotes to get the stump out I already paid Cut-a-Tree to take out, so I can take them to court. A disappointing and expensive ending to what should have been an easy fix. See my pics I just took. I didn't realize how big the stump left was until taking these. Please learn a lesson from me and CHECK the stump removal BEFORE they leave and BEFORE they cover the area up with the mulch from the bark! Look at this, this is over a 16 square foot area! I didn't uncover the area until spring when I was attempting to prepare my yard for planting. This was months after the job, and look at the crap job they did :( I haven't even uncovered the entire stump. **update: my 6/7 review was taken off Cut-a-Tree's facebook page 6/8. He has not contacted me to make this right.**

They did a superb job! They covered the plants and anything else that might have gotten damaged by falling branches. The big ash looks great; perfect shaping. They had no problem adding a couple of other small items that I needed done. They cleaned up better than the yard has looked in weeks and put everything back where it was. Here and gone in less than 90 minutes. By contrast, our neighbor had a BIG redwood trimmed last summer that was right next to our fence. The tree guy just let the branches fly and they BURIED bushes and trees and other plants on our side of the fence and he didn't even come and get rid of them! He left them there for us to deal with! We were out of town and our housesitter was burdened with this. I don't know who that was, but it was most definitely NOT Shipman. These guys were great! You couldn't pay me enough to get me 20 or 30 feet up a tree, hanging by ropes and swinging a chain saw around.

When his crew came out a few days later, I again gave the foreman directions on what I wanted done. Besides hiring this company, I made the mistake of going into my garage and not monitoring their work. When I did check out their progress, I was shocked at what they had done to my trees. To say they had butchered them would be a compliment. They had not come close to following my instructions. I was so infuriated that I couldn't say a word because I knew the only thing that would come out of my mouth would be profanity. Shortly afterwards, I called the company and requested to speak to Matt. I was advised that he was not there and the female who I spoke to asked if she could assist me. I explained what had happened to her and requested she have Matt call me. She advised me that she would and asked me to send her photos of the trees. This all took place approximately one month ago and I am still waiting for Matt or someone else to contact me. When Matt came out to give me the estimate, he also provided a business card identifying himself as a retired Navy pilot. To achieve that position, I would think that he had completed the Naval Academy and learned many things regarding having character and taking responsibility for his actions. I will never hire this company again or recommend them to anyone in the future. Richard O.
