If there were 10 starts I'd give them 10 stars, if you're looking for a DJ to not only make your wedding memorable but make the planning EASY then please hire Apogee!! Jack was our DJ and he was incredible. Leading up to the wedding he was so chill, answered all of our questions, was so patient, worked with the venue to figure out the set up in advance, collaborated so well with our sax player, and during our actual wedding he made pivots whenever we asked him to. Even late night after our photographer left he captured some INCREDIBLE candid photos without us even knowing because he knew that there wouldn't be professional ones taken!! He went above and beyond. We actually found out about Apogee because we went to a family friend's wedding and they were the DJs which is how we found out about them. They're so kind, so responsive, offered so much guidance, etc. The DJ set up at the actual venue was understated and classy, Jack MC'd the event perfectly, we had a Photo Booth which was awesome.....they literally went above and beyond in every way. If you're needing a DJ, look no further -- you MUST HIRE Apogee!!!!!!!!!! When I started looking for a company to DJ our wedding, I was told to look no further than Apogee. This company really has it together! Their online planning tool is simply AMAZING and I could tell this wasn't their first rodeo. Allen provided some of the best customer service I have ever received in answering some questions and providing support regarding a unique situation with our wedding, and I knew it go off without a hitch. I had the pleasure of speaking with our DJ, Greyson, the day before our wedding and I could already tell that he was an awesome fit for our group. Greyson kept us on schedule, worked fabulously with our guests, took care of some last minute changes AND taught us a few moves on the dance floor. The best part? He didn't lose any steam when 2/3 of our guests left well before the end of the reception. He kept the party going up until the minute we closed things down. Truly terrible. We hired Apogee to do the internet livestream of our wedding (out of country relatives couldn't attend due to covid) and Apogee almost couldn't have done a worse job. - The "set-up" consisted of a couple of iPhones on tripods. - The sound was whatever the iPhones picked up on their tiny internal mics. No collar mic, no handheld microphone, nothing. This was for an outdoor wedding. The sound was mostly ruined. - Lazy. The camera-person never bothered to pan the camera over the guests or at the processional or anything. They just played with their phone for 2 hours while they steamed an empty arbor. - Apogee plasters their logo over your wedding video periodically, giving it a very cheesy "This wedding is brought to you by Pepsi" kind of feel. Do yourself a favor, spend a little more money and hire someone good. read more

We rented a photo booth and loved the way our pictures turned out. The photo booth attendant was fun and enjoyable and helpful to have running the booth. However they arrived with the wrong background and were unable to retrieve it for our event. We had paid extra for a custom background and instead only got a choice of black or white. Communication was also challenging as no one answers the phone or returns phone calls. They do reply to emails though. read more

I've known the owner of Apogee Events through social media and we are friendly at the gym. I've never seen this business in action until today. We were attending a family wedding in Hillsboro, I was pleasantly surprised to recognize the DJ, Zach and one of the photographers, Randy. I have to say I'm thoroughly impressed! Their professionalism and precision timing was a pleasure to see. The music was wonderful and Zach has a great stage presence. The photography team seemed to always be exactly where they could catch every special moment. As a professional hairstylist, I've been behind the scenes of MANY weddings in my career. These fellows are the real deal. I could tell that they truly cared about giving the Bride and Groom an exquisite experience. I AM IMPRESSED. I want to start off by saying I have NEVER written a bad review about any person or company until now. I am a pretty understanding person and having ran a small business in the past, I understand that things happen and giving grace as a customer is sometimes warranted. This has just gone too far and has been the worst experience I have ever had with a company. This will be a long-winded review because I want to be perfectly transparent about what happened between us and Apogee after booking with them for a wedding DJ/MC. Apogee, Zach specifically was great to deal with up until we gave him a deposit to book a DJ for our wedding. After that, communication all but stopped. We booked the Professional DJ package with a couple of add-ons bringing our total to $1,250 for the event. I asked specifically before booking to meet the DJ who was going to be at our wedding and act as the MC. Zach assured me this would happen after I placed a deposit, it never did. Zach told us that our DJ would be Kyle, but we couldn't even find a bio of him on Apogee's website. They had the other DJ's listed, but none of them named Kyle. We just assumed the website wasn't up to date. So we knew literally nothing other than a name about our DJ. Kyle sent us one email 2 months later asking to set up a time to chat on the phone. His email went to my junk folder, and I did not see it until a week later. When we responded with dates and times, and an apology for not seeing his email sooner, we got no response back, no phone call, nothing. I have sent numerous emails to Kyle since then and have received no response. We booked with Apogee in early August of 2021 for our wedding in September 2022. As DJ services were booking quickly due to a backlog of weddings from COVID. Since giving Apogee our $400 deposit in August 2021 until now when I am writing this review in February of 2022, we have received 2 total replies from Zach and Apogee. One of those replies came on January 4th of 2022, Zach finally did respond to one of my emails saying he would give me a call and added the link to our booking details and DJ form. We had already filled out the form to the best of our abilities and needed a bit of clarification on a few parts to it. Zach did in fact call 2 days later and I happened to be right in the middle of an important meeting. Zach left no voicemail or follow up email. I called the number back within an hour and left a voicemail and received no response or follow up. Since then, we have received nothing from the company or Zach. No emails, no phone calls, nothing. I have reached out numerous times by email and phone. We understand our event is not for another 6 months, but all we were asking was to meet our DJ and have him answer a couple of questions about the online form. Trying to plan a wedding is stressful enough, we did not need this type of customer service, or lack thereof to add to it. I sent an email to the company's main email informing them we needed communication, or we would have to go with another company as things are booking up extremely fast for our wedding day. We just could not trust that they would actually show up on the day of. We of course did not get a reply. I sent them an email terminating our contract on 2/12/22 after one last-ditch phone call went unanswered. We have been forced to go with another DJ purely because we do want or need the added stress this company was going to put on us from lack of communication and just general consideration. As of 2/13/2022- They have kept our $400 deposit and have not attempted to resolve this issue or even contact us to this day. If anything ever does come of this and things change, I will update this review accordingly. For the moment, I HIGHLY recommend NOT booking with Apogee as it will cause undo headaches and stress due to their atrocious communication and customer service. I want to finish this review by adding that I do not enjoy or even want to write this review, but I feel as though our experience is worth sharing for others to consider. read more

This company lied to me and STOLE MY MONEY. Don't let it happen to you. April 2022: booked the venue for an event to take place October 28 and paid 50% deposit as required to hold the date July - Sept 2022: made 3 additional payments towards the balance Aug 31 - Sept 23 2022: called and left multiple voicemails and sent multiple emails asking to talk to someone about confirming the final details, no response to any of my communications Sept 23 - Grew weary something wasn't right. Called neighboring businesses who told me they saw the Apogee folks moving out of the building and taking down signage at least a week before my call. Apogee had closed its doors and neglected to tell me. And still had my money. I continued to call and email, still no responses. I also reached out to my attorney, as I felt his services may be needed to get my money back. Sept 28, 2022 - received an automated email from Apogee's system reminding me my event was 30 days out. I replied to said email saying I was concerned my event would even happen due to the lack of communication. Zach Thomas finally reached out to me In Response to my email. Zach Told me he couldn't come to an agreement with the landlord and had to close the doors, and acknowledged that he owed me my full refund per the contract which states if apogee cancelled they owed me a full refund. He told me the quickest way to get my money back was to dispute the charges with my bank. So that day I disputed the charges I could. I couldn't dispute the Initial 50% deposit I paid because it was outside the 3 month window to dispute charges. Zach said to email him to stay in touch about the refund. Sept 28 - Oct 16, 2022: I sent Zach 3 separate emails to the email address he told me to use to stay in touch, Letting him know the total amount of charges disputed with my bank (still pending return) and what he still owed me. I asked him to please respond and acknowledge receipt of my emails. NO RESPONSE TO ANY OF MY EMAILS. Oct. 17, 2022 - to avoid going through my attorney, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau for help to get my refund. They ask businesses to respond in a timely fashion. Oct 24, 2022: Apogee has not responded to the BBB (confirmed with them). Complaint also filed with Oregon Department of Justice and Federal Trade Commission. Attorney notified and legal action is next steps. Bottom line: BAD BUSINESS AND CUSTOMER SERVICE. Zach knew he was closing his doors and waited at least two weeks after doing so to communicate that with me. That's time I could have spent looking for a new event venue. An event that family from different states have already booked travel and hotel accommodations for to attend. Then he told me he'd refund my money and to stay in touch with him about it, and he hasn't responded to any of my communications. And I haven't received any of my money back. Do yourself a favor. Book wedding and event services with someone who will be respectful of your time and money and communicate with you, and actually provide the services you pay for. I rented a Photo Booth for my daughters wedding over 2 weeks ago. When we arrived at the wedding all the photos has my name and my husband's name who picked up the photo booth not the bride and grooms names. It was a little disappointing but I could look past that. The worst part is that we never received the photos. I called several times and they never pick up. It says it's best to reach them by email so I emailed twice with no response. I called back and left a message and received an email back that they were working on them and would get them right over. I still haven't gotten them and sent another email with no response. We hired Apogee for my daughters wedding this last weekend. I now regret doing so. I hired them due to the quality of work Nick did for my employer. We could hardly hear the music. We purchased the third package and we paid for alot that we didn't receive. The lapel mic was not offered to our officiant which meant he had to hold the mic and this book! Very awkward and cumbersome. There was no direction given to our guests as of what to do. The music was not cued for the section of the song and there was a no fading of the music during the transition of music. it was abruptly cut off and the other started. Guests could not hear the very, very special songs that were selected. There was supposed to be two separate systems instead there was a folding table with a speaker right at the next to the doors of the entrance. It was visible as our guests looked back to see our daughter come down the aisle. As the reception continued the list goes on and on of frustration and disappointment. This company screwed us over and is lying about it. I met a DJ at the Portland Wedding Expo Oct. 1 by the name of Alan who my fiancé and I talked extensively with about our New Years Eve wedding. He agreed to our date, gave us the contract, advised us if the deposit and pricing details which we agreed to, and he took down our information. We told him we could pay the deposit then and there but he had no way to take it. He said he would call us to let us know when he could meet us to plan the timeline for our wedding, collect the deposit the contract, and pick music. We NEVER got the call. I called every week for two months, left two voicemails, sent multiple emails I never got a response to, and finally got ahold of Zach about a month and a half before our wedding and was informed that not only was the DJ we spoke with booked, but they had nobody who could work our event and since I didn't give them the contract or pay the deposit, they had no obligation to us. He even saw the emails he didn't respond to and acknowledged that he "must have overlooked them" but couldn't do anything to help us. He told me to call around and see if anyone else could DJ for us but they'd be more expensive. He refused to take any responsibility. I asked if they would be willing to pay the difference in pricing for another company to do the exact same thing they promised (as it is such short notice and such a sought after date there are a lot of extra charges we'll get now) and he refused. I would NEVER recommend anyone to do business with this company. They do not stick to their word and are unwilling to right THEIR wrongdoings. ***Update: Now Zach is lying and trying to cover his tracks on my reviews about his company. I have emails that I sent with the date stamps and my call log calling HIS number directly. If I had a copy of the voicemails I left him that would be awesome, but you can tell by the length of my call that messages were left. I'm submitting it all to the BBB because this is just disgusting. He is trying to get my reviews removed, and made it so that I can not further comment on the business's facebook page because he realized I'll just keep giving proof that he is lying. I have calls made as evidence. I have emails I sent as evidence and yet he is still lying and trying to cover up his shortcomings. I attached one of the emails I sent him so anyone can see that I obviously responded to his email two days after he sent it. Allen was a pleasure to work with! Apogee's online portal was easy to fill out, and we received helpful email reminders as our wedding date approached to ensure we filled out our music requests. A week before the wedding we had a phone call with Allen to talk through our selections and get an overview of what our day would look like, which was super helpful! Allen arrived early the day of our wedding to set up and did an AMAZING job the rest of the night. His energy and professionalism kept our wedding running smoothly. He was also very flexible and accommodating (my sister surprised us with a beautiful song for her toast and the sound was amazing). We had THE BEST dance party and didn't want the night to end. When choosing a dj for our wedding last June 2014, my (now) husband and I were nervous about hiring the right person for the job. We'd been to so many weddings with really awkward dj's that repeated songs multiple times over. Let me tell you Apogee Events was not that awkward dj. Zach was our dj and he was AMAZING! Not only did he play our favorite songs be was tactful and kept the flow of the evening going smoothly. I am sad to say we were not satisfied with our DJ services from Apogee. We heard great things about them and were excited. They have a great online forum where you fill out all the specifics and I liked how organized it all was. However, when it came time they did not follow through. The music I selected to be played before the ceremony was not played at all and instead the DJ picked other songs, same with the Anniversary Dance. I had a couple specific instructions that were not followed at all. Also, he dismissed our guest tables for the food line before our parent's tables were dismissed. There was an area on the online forum to put our 25 must play songs, but not a SINGLE ONE was played during our reception. During the garter and bouquet toss, as well as with the money dance- there was no announcement on what was happening so most of our guests were outside mingling when he had us do these events. My own parents didn't get to see them because they didn't know he was starting them. I hate to be a downer, but my instructions were not taken into consideration at all, and our family and friends missed out on so many fun memories because nothing was announced. read more
