This place is open during lockdown but by appointment only! I was referred to this place by a friend and got an appointment here for prescription sunglasses. They have a good selection of glasses and sunglasses (high end to medium range brands). During my appointment, no one else was in the store except me, my partner and the two staff. Apollo limits the number of people and appointments in each time slot. They made me feel super safe! The staff was very helpful in making suggestions on glasses for me to try on based on my face shape and my description of what I was looking for. I'd give 6 stars. Fantastic, above and beyond, A plus, ervice. Super friendly, gracious, and knowledgeable staff. I strongly recommend asking for either Jenny or Janice. After my disastrous experience with big chains like Lenscrafters and Hakim Opticam, I was honestly lost as to where to go for glasses. Tbh I was initially a bit skeptical about what seemed to be some random asian place on Dundas, but their great and unique selection drew me in. Then Janice really took the time to go through various recommendations after establishing the styles I wanted. They were also super accommodating when I had to suddenly be out of town. Finally, when I came back, it was Jenny who helped me adjust the new but incorrect prescription from my optometrist to the actual correct one. She was incredibly patient and clearly knew what she was doing. And within an hr, I had my perfect glasses. Seriously, everything about this experience was so flawless and smooth. This is just a very quick review as I used them to fix a problem from another optician. I had spent over $600 getting a couple of pairs of eye glasses at Pearle Vision and one was a progressive bifocal that was horrible for me. I wanted to get them changed to a single vision, but they were being a pain about it and wanted to charge me a lot. My wife suggested going down to Apollo Optical since her family had used them quite a bit in the past. They quickly said that they'd replace the lens for me for $38 bucks in less than an hour. It was done on a busy Saturday at noon so we took off for dim sum and when we came back the new single distance lenses were ready, they were perfect and I walked out happy. The store had a huge selection of nice, fashionable frames and every seat was packed with customers at 1:00 p.m. so they must be doing something right. If I need anything beyond basic cheap frames in the future I'll definitely check them out again, but either way I was very happy with their quick and high quality service at an affordable price. I'd give this place 3.5 stars but I'm rounding up! I've gotten 3 or 4 of my glasses here and I'm pretty happy with the service. They've always treated me well, probably because the sales girl recognized me. Whenever I've had a problem with my glasses (ex. need to be refitted), they don't make a big fuss about whether I've gotten my glasses there. My mom however, has had some issues with after care service but she usually ends up with the mother of the boss so which associate you get could make a difference. I've bargained with them before but you usually need to get the boss before you get anywhere. Their prices are reasonable anyways. My anti-glare lens cost me about $80. I love that you can get same day service so I usually just do some shopping in Chinatown for an hour or 2 before I pick them up. They're closed Wednesdays. read more

This has been my go-to optical place for years I've had to wear glasses (since middle school). They are the best in my opinion. They have the nicest and experienced staff I have ever encountered. Their prices are fair and they are reasonable with you. I have never had any problems with them. Their customer service is top notch. I recommend all my friends to go there. It is a bit out of the way since they have moved locations, but I am a loyal customer and will always make my trek down to them whenever I need new glasses/sunglasses. They never pressure you to buy anything and always are there to help/assist you with your optical problems. read more

I went to Apollo following a recommendation from my boss. He'd commended their great service, citing a manager (i think?) named Jojo as the defacto eyeglass shop hostess with the mostest. And was he ever right! My first visit was on a busy saturday afternoon. The shop was packed so I was sure I'd have to wait to be helped, which I didn't mind at all. But nope! Within moments of setting foot in the shop a very sweet and very patient young woman named Jenny was at my elbow asking if i'd been looked after. She helped me select my new frames with the patience of a saint, watching me try on many, many options, and even bringing me more options from special, secret parts unknown (that's a trend at this shop - they've got treasure troves of frames hidden away). Once I'd selected the frames, Jojo herself came over to approve my choice and measure me for the perfect fit. They also gave me a great price on the frames, lenses and even that fancy reflective coating - not too shabby at all. I was told that my glasses would be ready in a week or so, but I got the call to come get them after just a couple of days. I went back into shop the following saturday due ot my own schedule, and was helped by Janice, another very sweet and very patient individual who educated me on eyeglass care, and even refitted AND fixed my old eyeglasses that I had bought from lenscrafters 2 years ago. That's what I call above and beyond service. I highly recommend Apollo for anyone's eye and sunglasses needs. While they're not "cheap", their prices are very reasonable, and your money is very much rewarded with high calibre service and care. read more

I got lenses replaced here, got brand new glasses here, got old glasses frames fixed here, it's just an amazing eye glasses store! I know you're thinking "it's in Chinatown, is the service bad?" The service is amazing! So much better than those chained eye glasses stores. People at this shop are very knowledgeable and patient. I should mention - they did an amazing job at adjusting my eye glasses frames. I got a pair from another store before, hated it because it kept on sliding down my face, I thought that pair just wasn't a good fit for me. I went to Apollo to get the nose pads fixed, they noticed it wasn't fitting on my face properly, did some adjustments, and it fits so much better now! read more

The staff were patient, friendly, and helpful. They have a wide selection of glasses, and I was pleased with the Ray Ban frame I purchased. The price point was a bit high for me - $350 for the frame and high index lenses with the coatings. If you have insurance, it should cover some of the expense. The staff are friendly and patient and they spend time helping you find just the right frames. I thought that this was a very good optical store. I was an optician in another province before moving to TO and am particular about my eyewear. I did not tell them this when I was in the store. I thought that the selection of frames was very good and the optician gave lots of options in terms of lense types and frames. I got a very good deal on my frames with designer frames at $160 for 50% off and was very pleased with the quqlity of the frame and the lenses. Very good value for your money at this store. I would go back to this optical store for my next glasses. read more
