After changing our appt 3 times, Amy finally did our hair. She pulled both our foils after too long & left us to continue processing until we complained about our scalps burning. I have fine, blond hair & she burned the ends off my hair & left an acid burn in my forehead. She also burned & blistered my daughter's scalp & neck (see pics). Amy let herself be distracted once people arrived, & we each had to tell her our scalp was burning & ask her to please wash it! Amy Nichole French has had her license revoked or reviewed 3 times. Amy French has a current license. She hasn't returned my phone calls & texts for 2 weeks now & she won't return my money either. I paid her $250 for both dye & haircuts. I was trusting enough that I gave her a $50 tip! What I didn't realize was how badly she had burned my hair and my daughter's scalp. She refuses to make it right.

The shop offers hair and waxing only, so there is no strong smell of artificial nails permeating the area. Oakland is a small town, but folks come from other area towns because Renee and Diann are so good. This shop has the feel of a corner coffee shop in that the owners are approachable, friendly, and kind. I always see someone I know. Gossip is not the main focus. I leave with an excellent hair cut. If you're looking for someone who puts on airs to do your hair, this is not the place.

I booked a cut and color…read moreon my ONE day off; the stylist lopped my hair off at my shoulders and then had the audacity to have a medical emergency and had to leave when she told me she was going to mix up color. one of her fellow stylists jumped in and finished my haircut and then told me to pay and reschedule for a color. now I understand that things happen, don't get me wrong. But that could have been handled a WHOLE lot better. The next day (!) someone called and let me know there would be a credit for the cost of my haircut if I wanted to call and reschedule the color, which is really the LEAST anyone could do, but honestly it was such an afterthought that I just have no desire to ever go back, credit or no. The haircut was ok (the second one) but I think I'm going to pass; this salon had one chance to make me feel pretty, and like I mattered. No one even offered to wash my hair, which I had specifically left filthy for the color. Boo

The owner also dropped hot wax on my right eye due to not paying attention. I received a burn on…read moremy upper and lower eye lid. If I had not seen it coming in time to shut my eye, my eyesight would have been ruined. As it was, it sealed my lid shut. This happens because he bounces off the walls and leaves you sitting in the chair while visiting with whomever comes into the shop. Or he is busy showing you things on his phone. A 40-minute style takes an hour or longer. Even though you have an appointment, every time I show up for mine, he is still in the middle of the person ahead of me. He was never on time. If he screwed his appointments up and called me to see if I would change my date to help him out, I always did. He, however, never called back to reschedule a new date even though he said he would. He would never call us back for a new appointment if we became sick or had to cancel. No matter how many times we contacted him, he never called back. This was out of spite. This, along with the prior review issues, is why we left. There are better hairdressers out there who are cheaper and respect their customers and co-workes. This owner is an unhappy, busy body with a mean streak. If a client he had issues with called while I was there if he looked at the number and he didn't want to speak to that person he would not answer the call. He would let it go to VM or ask his girl Morgan to take a message. He then would trash that client calling and talk badly about them.
