We stayed here for a week in July 2019 in cabin 1 close to beach. beach has everything you need to have fun! Trampoline, slide, kayaks , etc . Cabin was clean up to date. Beds were comfy, air conditioning worked when we needed to cool down! Had breakfast here and a few cocktails all were excellent highly recommend the bloody Mary's! My daughter loved the eggs Benedict! Everyone was very helpful and happy to be there we definitely will be back! Pet friendly too which is awesome!

We had a great time here on an ice fishing trip with some work buddies. Great accommodations and the restaurant has excellent prime rib.

We had our wedding ceremony and reception here (Sept 2014) and it was AMAZING. We ended our night playing yard games outside and making s'mores around a fire. It was a great time! Larson's Barn has a beautiful dance floor that we used for our first dance. Kathy is very easy to work with, even when we got there late to set-up the day before. There was a frost warning the day before the wedding and Kathy was sure to cover all of the flower beds. The next day although jack frost had come through all of the plants and flowers looked great. Since our entire group was from out of the area we also rented the small cabin and the under the barn apartment for the weekend. It was great for all of the bridesmaids and groomsman to be onsite, less stressful for everyone. We even had a hairstylist come out to the barn to do the girls hair. Everything was very convenient for being in the country of MN.

This biggest frustration was my sister paid a pretty hefty price for this place for the weekend and we couldn't get in until noon the day the wedding...why you ask, because they were showing it to another couple after we spent the entire day before decorating it for my sister's big day...I would not recommend this place to anyone

PREMIERE WEDDING VENUE…read more This new, easy to find, and picturesque farm venue will not disappoint you. The whole property is squeeky clean with an impeccably manicured lawn. You turn jn on a windy private road that takes you right over a substantial creek that could not be more enchanting. It is perfection in nature, and even the quaint bridge looks like it grew there. The hosta and floral gardens that line the driveway are delightful and finish setting the tone for the event. Ample parkjng is available , very close to the barn/reception. Not only is this barn new, it is AIR CONDITIONED! !! BOOM !! The architect and designer really nailed it on this facility. There is a comfy Bride's Room (with private restroom), a Grooms Area, a large walk up bar, large restrooms, a tall ceiling, and a small kitchen for the caterers. For me, the the most incredible feature was the giant sized barn doors located behind the head table. When they were majestically flung open, the sun and outside came in. It was almost spiritual, like when the Priest opens the Holy Doors. There were a couple lawn games for guests to enjoy, several tables under a shaded porch, a patio with a huge firepit, and lots of room for frolicking outside. Wine barrels were everywhere so there was always someplace to set your beverage. The ceremony site I saw was hidden and absolutely stunning. Perfectly etched out of the prevailing landscape. They had folding chairs, a metal arch that the florist decorated, and it was all shaded. I understand that there are a few different ceremony sites to choose from. Absolutely stunning. The beauty of this venue shines so bright. Everyone attending said this was the best wedding venue they've ever been to, and I would have to 100% agree. We booked with Ivory North for venue & photos before it was finished and I don't think I've ever made a better decision. April and Blake's love for each other and their family is so reflective through their work and truly draws them apart from other wedding vendors. In my job experience, I work with a lot of different brides and wedding vendors, and EVERYONE had nothing but amazing things to say about them. If you are even considering getting married here, you actually need to get married here. Don't bother anywhere else. It's worth the drive to Mora, I assure you. Shoutout to Ryan for running the operations day of and being so accommodating to our needs for the wedding! He was a fan favorite from everyone and definitely eased a lot of the random little concerns that come up on the day of. April and Blake, thank you again and again for coming into our lives and making our day so incredibly special. I cannot thank you enough!

So I thought I'd check in on one of my favorite chefs Matt Annand (featured in the MN Homegrown cookbook) and sadly Prairie Bay is closed. But he's now running the show at Notch*8. He's still bringing the good stuff - elevated but recognizable supper-club style wedge salad, tender brisket on focaccia with an onion soup jus that was so satisfying. (Literally- I could make a post about the jus) The show stopper? This off menu (but I'm told it could become a regular) desert has no name as of yet - but I'll give you my take... Zabaione takes a trip to the lakes region and cosplays as a roasted marshmallow - falls in love with the local berries and settles down in a house with a view. Make sense? The zabaione had a perfect balance/consistency- but the brûlée at the end was brilliant. I was here "out of season" for local fruit but I know Matt is committed to local sourcing - so an excellent dish will only get better with "in season" fruit. (I'd love to have seen a kernza flour + hazelnut cookie on top - but that may be gilding the lily) great job crew!
