When you arrive, make sure you do a bit of wine tasting at the cellar door before your meal. The bar staff were very helpful and insightful when pouring your wine and give great recommendations to pair up the right wine with your meal. We started off with a trio of dips which tasted of fresh beetroot, sweet potato and hummus. I was in the mood for a nice juicy steak that day so opted for the Angus Steak with a mushroom sauce for my main. It was deliciously melt in your mouth, nicely charred on the outside, tender and moist on the inside and packed full of flavour. If you have room for something sweet, you can admire the dessert selection which is akin to admiring a form of artwork. The delicate intricate design was something you'd expect to see from Heston Blumenthal's kitchen - and the taste is there too! I helped organised a gala event dinner for a work conference a few months back at the function room and it was spectacular. The rustic, old world charm with the stone walls, wooden barrels, against the glow of tealight candles just sets the mood for a beautiful intimate event. The staff were delightful to deal with and was efficient in our communications and catered towards every need. I would highly recommend Saltrams for a wedding or special occasion.

This is an adorable place, with such a cute entrance which is warm and welcoming. Tikka Talian offers an interesting fusion of Italian and Indian. You can get fusion options like an Indian pizza or you can get regular Indian and regular pizzas. The meal deals are worth looking at if you are ordering for a family. We have ordered from here a few times now. I have had regular Indian which was amazing and they have plenty of vegetarian options, and the mild is actually mild where elsewhere I find mild to be too spicy. The pizzas are great too, especially the gourmet vegetarian - yum. We will continue to order here and I hope to have a sit down meal one day.

We showed up early, there were four other tables, but they were doing a reasonable takeaway trade. It took us an hour to get our food - other tables were also delayed, and not happy about it. When we did get our food, it was awful. The frying oil must have been too cold because anything deep-fried was soggy. The lemon sauce for the lemon chicken tasted like it came from a jar - the bottom of the jar. The sambal prawns had nice prawns, but the sauce tasted like it hadn't simmered long enough. The noodle dish barely had any noodles (it was if they ran out). Neither of the servers checked to see if we had enjoyed our food, nor during our hour-long wait did they apologise or explain the delay. I brought the lemon chicken up to show we had only had one mouthful and that we weren't going to pay for it. The chef was loudly dismissive, and the servers didn't apologise, but they did take it off our bill after making us wait while they added things up by hand (their systems are as tired and dated as their décor - I appreciate kitsch, but things were tired and paint was peeling).

This is partly due to the lack of intimacy that makes Willunga so lovely and also in part to the food. Firstly, Seppeltsfield is like a mini village. Everything is large scale and audacious. You can see the investment in the recent renovation everywhere you look - the only issue is that it's removed some of the atmosphere. I couldn't put my finger on it until I realised that the design style is 'wedding' - it's pretty but inoffensive and lacking in any character. While service at Fino was impeccable and the staff attentive and gorgeous the food was only 'good' when I wanted it to be great. The Zeppole anchovy starter was tiny and dry, the potato dish was really just fancy cut crisps. For main, I had the pork belly which should have had a crispier skin (and didn't). Desserts though were delicious though. I wanted to like Fino more but the South Australian restaurant scene is booming at the moment and standards are every high. I hope they push a few boundaries in future as the potential is absolutely there.
