Zero stars if that were an option. I have passed this place my entire life and always assumed it was a reputable local business. After today, I understand why so many people say it has gone downhill. My husband called in advance to confirm their buy/sell practices before we ever drove over. Because paying spot price for gold and silver is not typical, he explicitly questioned it and confirmed it multiple times over the phone to make sure there was no mistake. Each time, he was told they pay spot price. Only after receiving that confirmation did we load our family into the car and drive out of our way to do business there. Once inside, the story suddenly changed. Instead of apologizing for the misinformation given by their own employee, the staff responded with dismissiveness, mockery, and open disrespect. While I stepped out briefly to retrieve items we had forgotten, my husband was treated as if he were wasting their time or trying to pull something dishonest, despite the fact that he had done exactly what a responsible customer should do by confirming details ahead of time. What stood out most was not just the misinformation, but the attitude: condescending, unprofessional, and openly hostile. No accountability. No attempt to resolve the situation. Just defensiveness and ridicule. Businesses that deal in valuables rely on trust. When staff are poorly trained, contradict one another, and then humiliate customers for relying on information they themselves provided, that trust is gone instantly. This experience was embarrassing, frustrating, and completely avoidable. The empty parking lot speaks for itself. If you value professionalism, transparency, and basic respect, I strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere. I know we will -- permanently. read more

Would give zero stars if I could. I drive past the place every so often and saw the "we buy gold and silver" sign up front. I called to ask what they pay for melt prices of gold and silver and they told me that they pay spot price. I figured this was wrong and told the sales rep over the phone but she insisted over and over that they pay spot day-by-day. Because of this, I got my family in the car to go up there for buy/sell/trade. When I got there they looked at me crazy, said that their own employee was mistaken and proceeded to MOCK ME on how that's ridiculous. No apology, just hard confrontation saying "we only have one person answering the phone" (like that is my problem?). I told the sales rep to BE SURE because I have to drive up for any transactions. Needless to say, they had some joker behind the counter literally ridiculing me the entire time as I talked to the manager. This is why no serious business happens at these types of stores. I was COMPLETELY BAITED to come in and then ridiculed - no wonder this company has an empty parking lot every single day. I'm telling my friends as well as the entire internet - don't do business with people like this. It's clear they will no longer be in business in the next 1-3 years. closing thought - if you misinformed your own potential customer - you DO NOT mock them in store and make them feel stupid for coming in at all. At the end of the day - "THANK YOU, Apple Basket - I know where NEVER to buy/sell/trade now" - especially jewelry. I hope this post saves people down the line from serious disappointment - OR WORSE - dastardly customer service and blatant disrespect for a customer that even called in first for clarity. read more

It's a cute antique store but I also noticed that there were lots of things bought to be sold so it didn't really feel very antique-y in some places. It's probably because it's not a consignment shop or at least doesn't feel like one - all of the items are stamped with their Apple Basket price tag which makes me feel like they're not interested in negotiating and that's one of my favorite thing about antiquing. I actually walked out without buying a thing and that is unheard of for me but overall, a fun little spot to check out on a sunny afternoon. read more

Been coming here for years and spent hundreds on ceramic trees over the years. However, it does seem like the Moms in their 30s with a young child (extremely well behaved) does not get greeted or acknowledged. When the older women come in and out they are sure to greet them! I can hear everyone getting greeted around me but my son and I were not acknowledged once. I bet the cameras were watching us like a hawk though..that's usually how these antique stores are! How you make customers feel plays a big part in whether or not they return and recommend to others. read more

The Apple Basket is a place of dreams for many, they offer antiques, trinkets, Amish made tables, chandeliers, vera bradley, they've got cute signs, dish-ware, chocolate and more. Best of all, with every season the inside décor changes. I'd dare to say that the beautiful women that that run this store are the Martha Stewart's of Antiques. I am just wowed every time I've walked in. Right now, they have their Christmas decorations and every room is littered with Christmas decor and trees. Almost every room has a Christmas tree, each tree has its own color scheme from blue bulbs and lights to red and gold, and more. I wish I took pictures because it's the best decorated store I've ever been in. Each room offers something unique, the stairwell has signs from the current season to your love of coffee or wine. Another room has antique dish-ware that I remember using as a kid while at my grandparents. Another has crystal and best of all there's even a room for your love of doggos! They also offer Amish made furniture at a great price. My wife and I bought a house almost a year ago and we've been using a fold out table while we found the perfect table. When we came across the Amish furniture it was love at first sight for us. Growing up in western NY I was surrounded by Amish and Native Americans. My mom would always tell me that the Amish always made great hand crafted items but I hadn't seen it for myself until I bought this table. At the time of purchase I was told it would take up to 2 weeks or maybe longer due to the holiday. Fortunately it only took about 10 days but because I live rather far away it took me a few extra days to get down to pick it up. The table fit inside my 5ft truck bed, and I was able to get home with only three ratchet straps holding it down. I did bring it in immediately but there was a strong smell of stain that remained. Therefore If you have a heated garage it might be best to leave there for a day or two in order to let the stain dry up. I bought the 6ft pine table with accompanying bench. The table is beautifully hand crafted. The style is farmhouse with each board the same thickness. Whomever built it uses pocket hole screws so there isn't any real expert wood crafting done but nonetheless at the price paid, the table is still more than a bargain buy. The legs detach and they're numbered for ease of assembly. We love it and are looking forward to using it for years to come. read more

Such a fun little antique store! There are so many beautiful and unique furniture pieces including great chandeliers, bookcases, buffet tables, dining room tables, and so much more. They have a painter who Chalkboard paints the furniture, and no doubt does the best job I've seen anywhere. There's also a ton of really unique knickknacks and wallhangings. I really loved to go in and check out all the old vintage rings. You can find some really amazing engagement and bridal sets here, for way less than you'd pay at a fine Jewelery store. The staff is very friendly, and the owner, Charlene is so knowledgeable in so many areas. This is definitely a place worth stopping if you like antique and gift shops. read more

The sign on the front of the building says "Apple Basket Country Store" - but it's more antiques than anything. I wandered in looking for country themed decor and wasn't very happy with what I had found. It's really an antique store with a bit of country stuff. So if you're looking for predominately country themed or primitive decor, this probably isn't the place for you. My Dreams - right down the street has a much better selection of country decor. However, if you're looking for those crocs shoes - then you'll be happy here. They have a whole room downstairs and one upstairs devoted to crocs. There's another room that is feminine and has lotions, soaps and a few other girly things. Another room devoted to food and cooking items. Lots of spices and dips and cookware. Oh ... they carry cards. Greeting cards - and some of them are great. These aren't your standard Hallmark greeting cards. read more

Worth stopping in - the items here are unique enough to make the stop worth it - but the staff makes the trip extra perfect. NOt everything is an antique, they sell lots of new merchandise. When looking for something that nobody else would have - this is the place. We have bought holiday decor; jewelry; collectibles, clocks and may more - the owner is a wonderful lady. I LOVE THIS STORE!! Great store for finding the unique gift, prices are very good, great variety. I love the candle section and the pretty gifts upstairs. It is a pretty large store, in an old home or general store (not sure what it use to be) so allow some time to browse or you will miss something. I have shopped at the Apple Basket for years. I've watched it grow and stayed loyal. I love it. The staff is so friendly and helpful. They'll order for you if they don't have what you're looking for and help you search. What a huge variety. There's something for everyone. I have many, many gifts here over the years for every occasion. I love the feel of the place. It's a beautiful old building and they've done a wonderful job of taking care of it. I have to agree with Candace, having two rooms full of Crocs is over kill. I enjoy them as much as the next person. I would have to say that when I go to a country store I would enjoy seeing decor for my home not shoes. I have been a long time customer, I have daughters that enjoy the country style of living decor, yet the last few times I have visited the store I have not found much in the lines of decor. Much if I would like a troll bead, crocs crocs and crocs. My daughters are candle lovers and I knew I would always find the most unique candle burners I have found very few. Don't miss understand, I have enjoyed visiting the store, it always would take me back to my grandmother's house, though I have not felt that the last few times visiting the store.
