I've been going to Max exclusively for almost two years and never even think about going anywhere else. He always does a top notch job with the haircut in every aspect. I love that it's a classic barbershop with timeless service and quality. Max has also put a lot of love and effort into setting up the shop such that when you walk through the door, you are transported back to the 40s and 50s. It is an escape to the past while you're there, and with Max, you make a friend on your first visit. I don't go as often as I should, but he always remembers our past conversations and we pick up like no time has passed. I can't recommend this place any more highly. read more

I took my boy to get his hair cut here. For starters, the shop itself was very clean, and it felt nice inside. I loved the inside decor. It had an old school barber feel. There were lots of black and white photos on the wall with old school barber chairs. Max cut my son's hair and knew just what to do. He got right to work, and he did a great job. Arrived to this place at 855am thinking my kids appointment was at 9am. Owner comes out tells me it's at 930 I said no worries we will wait. He then proceeds to tell me that the normal $30 haircut is now $40. I asked asked him why he said it was $40 because of the holidays which was New Year's eve weekend for 2023. He said that if his 9 o'clock appointment doesn't come in he would take us in at 9 o'clock I said OK no problem 9 o'clock appointment comes in and I looked at my son and I was like $40 for a haircut is ridiculous I know there's inflation and crap but that's not cool so me and my son just got up and walked out to the car. He proceeds to follow me out to the car and starts yelling at me saying that he would appreciate it. If we told him that we were going to cancel the appointment I told him on your website says $30 why is it $40 he proceeds to tell me that, it's $40 because of the holiday he goes also it's also higher because you didn't tip me last time I came in I did that's a bunch of bullshit. I did tip you five bucks. I'm not gonna give more money for a freaking haircut I'm not gonna give you more than five dollars so he says do me a favor and don't come back. OK no problem. This is the worst owner of a so called business. the worst spot I've ever seen it's a haircut if you really need extra money go find a better job. Worst place I've ever gone to. Moving up to the high desert and trying to find a barber who can cut my beard the way I like it was easier than I thought. Max is a beast with the scissors and clippers. He is extremely effective and gets you in and out in less than 30 minutes! This is my second time coming and honestly he is extremely consistent. One thing to note is this is located at the old apple valley inn motel, lots of history. There are plenty of parking spots and haircuts are a little on the higher end as you are paying for quality Beard trim - 25$ Haircut - 25$ I paid 50 not including tax - like I mentioned Max is a perfectionist and won't have you leave until you look perfect! We recently moved to Apple Valley and had a hard time finding someone we could trust with our boys. I am so grateful that we found Max! He is great with my kids (10 and 5). One of my sons is on the spectrum and Max does a great job of working with him. We book the last appointment of the day to keep him from being overstimulated. Going to the shop has been a great lesson to them on being gentleman and making a haircut an experience. His shop is full of antiques which is nice, however it does require keeping an eye on littles if you are bringing them in. There is some seating outside if that makes you nervous. Let me start. I have been going to another very famous shop for over 20 years. They have been having growing pains. I heard of this place from a friend. My experience started with a phone call to set an appointment. My other shop was show up and wait which lately has been a turn off. Upon arrival, I found this little shop very quaint and a blast from the past. very meticulously decorated shop to show the heritage of a true barber shop. Very clean, jazz music, and just an awesome experience. I waited for about 15 minutes. I was then asked to seat and asked what type of cut/style I wanted. No problem. Barber, who I believe is the owner Max, was a true gentleman!!! Haircut was amazing and to be honest the only thing missing was the singing of a barber shop quartet!!! I ended up paying $30 for my cut. Yes, this was expensive, but I think well worth it. Your paying for a QUALITY job and overall experience. I sadly going to abandon my old shop and start going here. Very unprofessional and very rude. Went today for a haircut and apparently because its a holiday the price increased. When I mentioned that today isn't even a holiday, Max became very rude and told me oh well thats the rule. This isn't the first time max has been rude, if you are not satisfied with the cut its a very big inconvenience to him to fix it. He's got a very old school barber shop vibe but ya boy hooks it up with sexy ass fades. The only issue you will have is from all the whiplashed caused by your sexual presence when they turn their neck to look and through this process breaking said neck. This place has rich history of Apple Valley and the high desert, and the gentleman Max I spoke to turned out to be the owner and was just as kind and professional in person as he was over the phone. We had a great conversation and he does great work. Very satisfied with my haircut and very glad I didn't have to go through trial and error of bad haircuts to find a great barber. Max noticed right away and began the process of fixing my hair. This took a couple months until my hair readjusted.
